Hours and Salary

This is a part-time role working Tuesday to Friday (28 hours per week) £18,214.56 (£26,020.80 FTE). Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Support in fundraising materials preparation and distribution
• Provide support for fundraising initiatives, campaigns & events during the year (with a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends to fulfil this function)
• To work collaboratively with the team and support the Fundraising Lead in fundraising activity to help grow income to £175k+ per year.
• Support in writing funding proposals and donor communications.

Our ideal candudate will be someone with...

• a proven track record as a Personal Assistant or Fundraising Assistant experience

Engagement Officer

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the London Locality Impact team to support our work with colleagues across the locality, stroke communities and health care system, and in supporting people affected by stroke to provide the voice of lived experience.

Position: S11279 Engagement Officer

Location: Home-based, London - Frequent travel will be required as part of this role (includes team meetings and other external work related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week

Salary: circa £23,088 per annum (inner London weighting £3,160 per annum or outer London weighting £1,820 per annum may be applied in accordance with where you live)

The Role

Reporting to the Engagement Lead, the Engagement Officer will work with colleagues across the locality to deliver against planned activity and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Engaging with service providers, clinical partners, community groups for stroke survivors and carers in the locality. including managing relationships with voluntary led support groups, developing the London groups network.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Enabling sustainable and supportive stroke communities to flourish in the locality
• Supporting stroke survivors to be able to take part in a range of different opportunities to provide the voice of lived experience.
• Building and maintaining key relationships with key stakeholders.
• Identifying and developing opportunities to connect and facilitate stakeholders to influence and support change to improve the lives of those affected by stroke

Through your work, you will help us ensure Syrian communities have the education and medical care they need, every day, and when emergencies strike – this is critical as Syia begins to rebuild following the fall of Assad in late 2024. Action Syria has over a decade of experience working with local partners in the Middle East making a positive difference to over 25,000 people affected by conflict, displacement and natural disaster annually. 1. Lead the Communications and Marketing function and strategy:

• Review and refine our Communications & Marketing strategy to ensure it is fit for purpose and responsive to the new chapter unfolding in Syria, positioning us as a leading voice among charities engaging in the region;

Role description

As our philanthropy coordinator, you will play a key role in building new partnerships with philanthropists and high-net-worth individuals, with an immediate focus on the UK, US, and Europe. You will design and implement a comprehensive strategy to build a robust portfolio of individual donors, Family Foundations, Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and other personal giving vehicles. 

A proactive and thoughtful relationship builder, you will maintain long-term relationships and lead bold strategies to engage new audiences, including millennial and next-generation philanthropists. You will steward Open Briefing’s first global development board, working closely with our CEO and director of development to engage members around a dynamic programme of activities designed to make Open Briefing more fundable and findable. 

Together with our director of development, you will drive forward a multi-year fundraising strategy to resource our work with activists and organisations on the frontlines of human rights, social justice, and environmental action. 

Your primary responsibilities will include: 

• Designing and executing our philanthropy fundraising strategy. Lead a strategy to identify, cultivate, and solicit high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) —including through Donor Advised Funds, Family Offices, Family Foundations, and other giving vehicles—with an immediate focus on the US, UK and Europe. 

• Prospecting and donor acquisition. Manage HNWI prospecting, generate new leads, develop solicitation plans, brief senior leadership in advance of meetings, and coordinate cultivation and networking opportunities.

• Stewardship and relationship management. Build strong relationships with existing and potential donors through tailored stewardship plans designed to grow income over time. Manage donor tracking and communication systems. 

• Nurture and grow our development board - Work alongside our director of development and CEO to identify and engage members and steward the Board through a 12-month action-orientated development campaign. 

• Budget Management. Manage a programme budget for cultivation and stewardship events and activities.

• Collaboration and Communication. Work closely with our communications coordinator, director of development and programme teams in the production and dissemination of donor-relevant reports, updates and other content; and contribute to the conception and organisation of donor-facing online and in-person events.

• Team support. As a key member of our development and communications team, undertaken other duties as reasonably requested relevant to team and organisational goals. 

Person specification 

Essential 

• You will have extensive experience managing a HNWI or major gift portfolio. 

• You will have a proven track-record of personally securing four, five, or six-figure donations from HNWI and/or major gift donors in the UK, US and/or Europe. 

• You will have experience working within a nonprofit focused on human rights, social justice, and/or environmental action. 

• You will have excellent verbal communication skills, including English language skills, both spoken and written. 

• You will have experience working with senior stakeholders and board members to support fundraising activities. 

• You will have an ability to work both strategically and operationally.

• You will have creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude.

Desirable

• You may have experience working within a global nonprofit. 

• You may have knowledge of the human rights, social justice, environmental justice, and/or international development funding landscape. 

• You may understand grant-making and grant-management processes, especially with respect to private philanthropic funding, including family foundations, DAFs, and Family Offices.

Terms and remuneration

This is a remote, home-working role. You will be contracted for 40 hours a week on a full-time, fixed-term contract. Flexible working is available and encouraged.

You will be supporting the administration of a summer appeal going out , we are looking for an immediate candidate who can start in June, initially the contract it will be for 2 months .

The Role
To act as the first point of contact for Individual Giving and provide on-going support to donors. This includes but is not limited to, thanking donors, responding to enquiries and providing support and advice in relation to donating to the charity
To deliver and fine tune stewardship for all one-off and regular donors. Stewardship must thank supporters in a timely manner and provide information and inspiration to show how the donor how their gift makes a difference. This includes sending emails and letters, welcome packs, and personalised email updates and resources.
To support the Head of Public Fundraising with appeals and other Individual Giving projects that the charity will be running an appeal in June and in November and December in the lead up to Christmas.
To utilise Raisers Edge database to record and track donor interactions.
To manage income processing for one-off donations, cash and cheques.
To work with the Database Manager to tidy donor records and maintain accurate records.

The Candidate
Knowledge and understanding of Individual Giving fundraising
Knowledge and understanding of the importance of donor care
Track record of communicating with supporters by telephone and through written communications Experience of delivering stewardship plans to maximise income and engagement
Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection legislation
Experience with a CRM system (i.e. Raisers Edge)
Good planning and organisation skills

Our members are central to our past and our future. Formed by carers of people living with a diagnosis of schizophrenia in 1972, our first members laid the foundations for the Charity that exists today, which now helps thousands of people severely affected by mental illness.

Our many thousands of campaigners, supporters and donors, along with our members, give Rethink Mental Illness its mandate. Members are an important source of volunteers for our governance and peer support groups. They help shape the direction of our work through our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the work of the Board of Trustees and other committees. Membership also provides people with a sense of community and belonging to our organisation that helps them to cope with the demands of living with severe mental illness, whether they have direct experience, or are a carer, relative or friend.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual to join our Individual Giving team as the Individual Giving Assistant – Supporter Acquisition.

This role will play a key part in supporting the recruitment of new supporters to the Charity through a range of direct marketing channels and propositions. The post-holder will provide vital administrative support, help deliver campaigns, ensure excellent supporter care, and play an important role in front-of-house operations at both our Chelsea and Sutton offices.

The Finance Manager is responsible to the Executive Director and responsible for:

1. Ensure Financial Sustainability—Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's long-term sustainability, aligning budgets with the charity's mission and strategic goals.
2. Strengthen Financial Governance and Compliance - Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, charity law, and donor requirements, including timely preparation of statutory accounts and audit processes.
3. Enhance Financial Planning and Budgeting - Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning, providing accurate forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support leadership decisions.
4. Optimise Resource Allocation - Provide insight and analysis to guide the efficient use of funds, ensuring that resources are directed to the most impactful programs and services.
5. Develop Transparent Financial Reporting—To build trust and demonstrate accountability, deliver timely and transparent financial reports to stakeholders, including the ED, trustees, donors, and regulators.
6. Support Fundraising and Donor Stewardship - Partner with fundraising teams to manage restricted funds, track grant expenditures, and support financial reporting to funders, ensuring alignment with donor expectations.
7. Promote Financial Literacy and Capacity building - Build financial awareness and capacity across the organization by training non-financial staff and ensuring budget holders understand and manage their financial responsibilities effectively.
8. Risk Management and Contingency Planning - Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies, including establishing reserves and contingency plans for economic uncertainties or funding shortfalls.
