About the role

The Refugee Council supports separated children across England and part of our service is a team of staff based at the port of Dover, working 24/7 to provide a temporary safeguarding service for children arriving there, ensuring that their basic needs are met while they await transfer to the care of a local authority. The unit is reactive to the needs of clients, who may arrive at any time, and staff are expected to cover a variety of shifts.

As a Support Worker, you will assess the basic needs of newly arrived clients and provide an appropriate service, including food, clothing, and access to hygiene facilities. You will work in the best interests of the child and ensure all safeguarding issues are responded to, reported and accurately recorded.

SLRA is a well-established local migrant support organisation working with and for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants who are at risk or in crisis because of immigration issues. We provide specialist immigration advice as well as a broad range of practical, social and therapeutic support services. We also campaign for a fairer immigration system, involving local people with lived experience in influencing local and national policy and practice.

Our specialist Youth Service provides holistic, one to one casework and a programme of activities and trips. The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) gives old buildings a future. The Director of Income Generation and Engagement will be responsible for diversifying and developing RLSS UK’s income streams, predominately through fundraising. Mind in Enfield and Barnet is seeking Community care coordinators for some of our most vulnerable users of emergency services. These roles have been developed to further support our service users alongside our statutory partners at North Middlesex NHS Foundation Trust Emergency Department, to increase their wellbeing, confidence, social integration, and independence.

The successful candidates will be responsible for working with service users during periods of crisis and support them through their journey of recovery to ensure that they are receiving the support most beneficial to them. This will be achieved through a person-centred approach to ensure that the views of service users are central to the planned support they receive.

Coaching and Engagement

• Coach an agreed number of young parents to articulate and achieve their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives with their children
• Work proactively, creatively, and effectively with young parents to help them to develop a consistent and positive approach to parenting aimed at addressing behaviours and overcoming challenges
• To promote and facilitate parental understanding of a child’s needs and to support parents to provide an appropriate environment in which children feel safe, and which encourages the development of both the child’s and parents’ self-esteem and resilience

• Coach young parents to develop strong networks and connections outside of the service, which will sustain them once they move on. Encourage and proactively assist in the development of skills needed to successfully live, learn, and work.

We're seeking a dedicated professional to coordinate and deliver community engagement activities that increase awareness of Tuberculosis (TB), Hepatitis B, HIV, and sexual health. You'll work directly with ethnic minoritised communities to increase awareness and improve uptake of vaccination, screening and treatment services.

• Lead community engagement initiatives and health promotion interventions
• Develop strong relationships with community groups and healthcare partners
• Develop culturally sensitive information and resources including social media content, and promotional materials
• Deliver both one-to-one and group interventions tailored to community needs

You’ll also have the opportunity to be part of our holiday activities and residentials, work alongside a dedicated and creative staff team, and contribute to a space where young people feel safe, supported, and inspired.
