The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), a registered charity, is an international forum where science meets business. The Role:
SCI is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Press Officer to lead on its external and social media engagement strategy.
You will lead SCI’s engagement with media outlets – including national papers, trade publications and broadcast – to increase our public profile, promote our work and build support for our campaign to accelerate the commercialisation of the UK’s science base.
You will manage SCI’s press office on a day-to-day basis – scanning the media and political landscape to find opportunities for SCI to leverage its unique expertise and perspective as an organisation at the intersection of science and business. Part of the role will include public affairs (20%) where you will also support SCI’s Head of External Affairs with political engagement as required – coordinating and facilitating SCI’s engagement with key politicians and political contacts.
This role is suited to someone with at least 3 years of professional experience in communications, with an excellent news sense and a solid contact book of journalist contacts.
Responsibilities:
• Closely monitor the news agenda, seeking out opportunities for SCI to comment on fast-moving events and raise the profile of our policy positions and significant research into the potential of the UK’s science base.
• Develop and build national, trade and regional media contacts, hosting journalists at SCI offices in Belgravia.
• Establish KPIs for SCI’s media engagement and monitor and demonstrate progress in meeting them.
• Work with the Social Media team to develop and draft content related to our policy priorities for our social media channels.
• Support the wider team on other ad hoc tasks such as political monitoring and public affairs support.
Knowledge, skills and experience required for this position
• A demonstrable passion for and understanding of science, its purpose for the economy and society, and communicating that to public and political audiences.
• Minimum of 3-5 years in a press office or media-related environment.
• Confident in working in a fast-paced environment and ability to be quick and agile in responding to news opportunities as they arise.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Able to quickly establish rapport and build strong collaborative relationships.
• Excellent time management skills: ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload.
• A strong team player who is also a self-starter who can work independently and confidently. An attitude that actively seeks continuous self-development and ways of doing things better.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to condense complicated subject matter into succinct, accessible copy.

About you and the role:
This role is an integral part of an ambitious programme to empower and train up the country’s school kitchen workforce through our School Chef Educator Programme, a hybrid course set over 10 weeks, including in-person sessions, webinars and self-guided e-learning on our learning platform. The programme has successfully trained over 130 school chefs nationwide, from London to Yorkshire, the West Midlands to Cornwall.
Our ultimate goal is that every school in the country has a person leading their kitchen who is a recognised food educator, playing a crucial role in shaping kids’ eating habits for life.
Your role will be to deliver the School Chef Educator Programme both in-person and online to school kitchen workforces across the country, helping to inspire them to achieve higher levels of knowledge and standards of food quality.
Supported by the Programme Manager, you will maintain and develop the online learning platform, design new and exciting training materials and learner experiences in order to maintain relevance and attract new customer bases across the school food sector.

Strong relationships with students, colleagues, and suppliers are vital.
You will also manage catering bookings and ensure services meet high standards, from enquiry to delivery. Compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and equipment maintenance is essential. Issues must be reported promptly, maintain a safe environment, and ensure all staff follow uniform and cleaning protocols.

We are recruiting for Floating Support Worker who will support the Ascent Pan London Service in building sustainable referral pathways and joint working protocols with a range of partners working with survivors of domestic abuse
You will provide capacity-building in the form of advice, advocacy, support, and briefings across the London boroughs to statutory agencies and community organizations around the needs of Eastern European domestic abuse survivors, to embed best practice across our communities.
It is desirable for candidates to be proficient in one or more Eastern European languages.
You will have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to women as well as up-to-date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of gender-based violence. You will have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries and be a proactive team player. All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality which underpin all of our work.
The post holder will provide a high-quality personal welfare support service to Eastern European survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence and abuse and their children. The post holder will empower Eastern European survivors by providing them with emotional and practical support, including support to access safe accommodation.
The post holder will provide capacity building in the form of advice, advocacy, support and briefings across the London boroughs to statutory agencies and community organizations around the needs of Eastern European domestic abuse survivors, to embed best practice across our communities.

The Role
Support the Head Of Philanthropy and IG, and work alongside another Fundraising Manager to lead the Major Donor activity for the team.
This role has a strong focus on relationship cultivation and stewardship with the aim of increasing donor engagement and funds raised.
You will identify and research potential major donors to further grow the warm donor base.
Develop strategies to engage and solicit major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Develop and implement personalised engagement plans for major donors.
Provide regular updates and reports to major donors on the impact of their gifts.
The Candidate
They are ideally looking for 2-3 years of Major Gifts fundraising experience.
Experience managing and cultivating relationships with existing and prospective major donors.
Available to travel abroad for global meetings and events.

This Policy and Research Manager role is available on a 9-month fixed term contract and full-time basis. This role is available on a hybrid arrangement where you would attend the Fitzrovia office 2 days a week. The salary on offer for this role is circa £50,000.
We are looking for an experienced policy and research professional to lead their Policy & Research Team. You and the talented team will play a crucial role in understanding key topics affecting student life.
You will plan, develop and deliver a programme of effective policy roundtables and events to support with spreading information about the organisations research programme. You will also offer guidance on shaping and influencing policy and analyse trends and policy developments.
In terms of research, you will commission, supervise and undertake large-scale research. You will manage and supervise team members, monitor budgets, expenditure and financial procedures.
To be considered for this role, you will have a university degree in a social science or similar discipline or demonstrable experience in policy and research. You will have knowledge of research methodologies, experience undertaking research studies, and an analytical mindset.
You will have excellent communications skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have the ability to work as a part of a team and on own initiative. You will have strong IT literacy with experience using Microsoft Office and online platforms.
Desirably, you will have previous experience of working in a students’ union or similar organisation. You will have experience in line management. You will have knowledge/understanding of current policy issues and trends in Higher Education and the student experience.
