Senior Migration Officer

Location: London, with working from home, regular travel in England and Wales, and rare travel overseas.

CSAN is the official agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice affecting people in England and Wales. We’re facing a steep rise in poverty and significant pressures on social, economic and church resources. At this time, the Church is called to raise a prophetic voice against poverty and the rhetoric of division and work for the building of a more just society.

In 2021, CSAN launched its strategy to extend the social mission of the Church in a post-COVID society. We are developing the infrastructure of the social action network of the Church in England and Wales, including new alliances for diocesan Caritas agencies, advocacy and migration. As our Senior Officer for Migration, you will help to raise awareness of migration issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching and lead on our Ambassadors Programme against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, as well as prepare briefings and campaign responses to Government legislation.

Over the last 20 years, CSAN has established a network of 50 diocesan and direct service charities, with a combined annual expenditure on social mission estimated at £400m, excluding the work of schools and religious congregations. Our members build up local community life in diverse ways, and many of them support individuals in difficulty, including with housing, prison and detention, social isolation, ill-health, violence, disability, employment, care, therapeutic and welfare support.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Migration Officer are:

1. To provide timely information to the CSAN team and the network on UK Government resettlement programmes and legislation on immigration.

2. To support CSAN’s work to improve public policy and practice on immigration, with compelling evidence from our network, and enabling effective participation in advocacy for a humane system.

3. To work closely with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on issues of migration and human trafficking.

4. To lead the implementation of the Gubay-

funded CSAN Ambassadors against Human Trafficking programme, preparing and delivering programme materials.

5. To support cross-cutting key workstreams and alliances in CSAN, especially the Domestic Abuse alliance and racial justice, in partnership with the Bishops’ Conference.

The work of the small national team requires a high level of integrity and teamwork, respect for and capacity to navigate complex civil and church contexts at pace, and a stable commitment to personal formation and training. Our Senior Migration Officer will bring a professional track record of relevant research and analysis, production of compelling communications, and diligent administration. A satisfactory basic DBS check and references are required.

Headway Gloucestershire was established in 1987 and since then we have been working to make a positive difference to the lives of adults with an acquired brain injury. We provide specialist recovery support and respite through our centre based Day Service and outreach support through our Community Links Service. We provide group and one to one sessions to support individuals.

Open every weekday, Headway House is at the heart of Headway Gloucestershire.  We provide a structured programme of activities for individuals to choose from. Our programme is designed to support participants to work toward their own recovery goals and gain insight into strategies that support individuals to manage the physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and behavioural outcomes which can occur following an acquired brain injury. Peer group sessions enable us to harness the recovery benefits of peer contact and support.

We have been successful in receiving three years of funding to deliver services in up to five locations in Gloucestershire and are recruiting a part-time Support Worker to support the delivery of our Hubs – to meet and support the recovery needs of individuals with acquired brain injury in their community. The Support Worker will be responsible for the delivery of group sessions designed to support individuals with acquired brain injury work toward their recovery goals. Responsibilities include: -

• To deliver professional, impartial, enabling and outcome focused support to Individuals with acquired brain injury. To provide support for clients with complex needs to support their recovery, wellbeing, independence and autonomy.
• Supporting the Hub Lead to schedule, develop and deliver sessions.
• Provide Key-working to individuals: - to use an enabling approach to support individuals to plan and work toward their recovery goals ensuring that planned activities are delivered and support is tailored to meet the needs of each individual survivor to maximise our contribution to their recovery.
• Providing cover at Headway House where required.
• Ensure that safeguarding training and understanding is kept current and that individuals are safeguarded.

Primarily carrying out the role in community Hubs, you will work to clearly established quality standards. You will be joining a motivated and dynamic team of staff and volunteers working to making a difference to individuals with acquired brain injury in Gloucestershire.

Job purpose: We are seeking a motivated, experienced Communications, Community Development and Support Officer to join a dynamic team to deliver WA-UK’s objectives. 

The appointee will develop and manage WA-UK’s Communication & Community Development strategy in coordination with the Fundraising Officer, the Programmes Officer, and in partnership with Taawon.  We’re looking for a team player who will devise communication strategies and produce content that informs and inspires multiple audiences including supporters, donors and other stakeholders.  You will set outreach targets, play an integral role in advancing campaigns – off-line and on-line – to advance the objectives of the charity and actively manage the website.  The post-holder will also provide administrative support and ensure the smooth running of the office

Duties & Key Responsibilities

Communications, outreach and community engagement

Guided by WA-UK’s objectives and strategic priorities and working in collaboration with its key partners:

· develop and lead on implementing WA-UK’s communication and community development strategy;

· produce content that informs and generates knowledge for the benefit of multiple audiences including supporters, donors and stakeholders; and utilise different mediums through which to disseminate that content;

· set outreach targets and grow and diversify the charity’s audience;

Northern Ireland has an amazingly rich heritage of church and chapel buildings that we want to see well maintained, valued and in use. We’re looking for a Support Officer – based in Northern Ireland – who can help us to complete the delivery of our pioneering The National Lottery Heritage Fund project. This role will support churches of all denominations with maintenance and tourism advice, training and events and be a key contact for churches looking for heritage support in Northern Ireland.

What You’ll be doing

Strategic Leadership:

• Design, drive and deliver MAF’s Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy to significantly grow income and deepen engagement
• Identify opportunities for innovation in donor acquisition, engagement, and retention 
• Contribute to organisational strategy as part of the Senior Leadership Team 
• Support the CEO, Trustees and other senior stakeholders in leveraging their networks and relationships 
• Match donor passions with compelling giving propositions—from medical flights to capital appeals 

Team Leadership:

• Lead, develop and support a dedicated team of fundraisers and administrators 
• Foster a high-performance culture grounded in collaboration, ownership, and Christian mission 
• Build a team known for excellence in donor stewardship and partnership development 

Cross-Organisational Collaboration:

• Work closely with Marketing, Programmes, and International Teams to build powerful cases for support and share donor impact 
• Represent Philanthropy and Partnerships at Board level, offering insight, reporting, and influence 

Donor Management:

• Personally manage and grow a portfolio of significant donor relationships (major gifts of £25,000 to £1 million+) 

· Develop strategies to increase fundraising support for people related activities, including our need to drive overseas recruitment and take overall accountability for the staff income budget”.

• Ensure your team delivers an excellent donor experience—tailored, proactive, and relational at every stage of the journey

Peer support Workers hold a key position in the Trafford Living Well service, working with individuals and groups, to help people to reach their individual recovery goals.

Peer support workers support individuals to establish greater control over their lives, helping to identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value and purpose whilst recognising that everyone’s recovery is a uniquely personal process.

As an integral and valued member of the multi-agency team, the post holder will support team members by role modelling and using lived experience of mental health services to shape the service's quality.

About WA-UK

The Welfare Association (WA-UK) is a UK registered charity supporting transformative development projects and humanitarian relief interventions to empower and benefit Palestinian communities in the West Bank, Gaza and the refugee camps in Lebanon.  WA-UK partners with Taawon and its network of local Palestinian organisations and international actors operating in the region.  WA-UK projects in the sectors of health, education and development are the outcome of a locally led needs assessment exercise and are designed in consultation with its partners and implemented by local actors.

Job purpose: We are seeking a motivated, experienced Fundraising & Public Interface Officer who will work with the Board to deliver WA-UK’s objectives by growing its income from a diverse funding pool including but not limited to trusts & foundations, legacy and individual giving and community giving.  You will develop WA-UK’s fundraising strategy (online and offline) and lead on its implementation. The post holder will be responsible for increasing the charity’s public profile and oversee the daily operation of the charity.  Leading a small innovative and dynamic team, you will also be exposed to other areas of work events and communications. 

Duties & Key Responsibilities

Development and implementation of fundraising strategies

Guided by WA-UK’s objectives and strategic priorities the postholder will:

· develop a fundraising strategy, set targets and take proactive steps to implement the strategy;

· consolidate, strengthen and build on donor and stakeholder engagement and maximize income generation through strategies developed in coordination with partners; 

· develop a portfolio of donors and ensure that their objectives and needs are met;

· lead on the growth and quality of institutional funding sources; consolidate and strengthen existing institutional donor relations; revitalise any dormant institutional donor relations;

· support the programme officer to prepare, submit and present proposals and concept notes to donors;

· with the programme officer, maintain and manage a donor reporting calendar to ensure production of timely and appropriate reports that demonstrate the impact of their grants;

· significantly expand the charity’s funding and support base; aim to increase regular monthly/ annual donations;

· with the communications officer develop and implement strategies to grow and retain support of individual and community donors;

· identify, research, and develop major givers, whether giving as individuals or through trusts or companies;

· ensure that all major donors are provided with the highest level of stewardship;

· with the communication officer and key partners, plan and deliver campaigns and events; develop online strategies and coordinate messaging to raise funds for appeals and projects.

· ensure the upkeep of a database and filing system on all existing and prospective donors;

· monitor and apply for grants to enable the charity to advance its objectives.

Public interface and outreach activities

The postholder will:

· promote the charity’s public profile including through participation in diverse fora including with other stakeholders, charities, NGOs;

· attend networking events if/when needed and speak on behalf of the charity; and

· plan for and run at least two public outreach and/or fundraising events per year including with partners.

Leadership for staff and supporting the board of trustees

The appointee will:

· lead and manage a small team of staff;

· oversee the daily operation of the charity including compliance with relevant laws and regulations;

· ensure the financial stability of the charity;

· provide regular briefings to trustees and if required prepare documents and agendas for board meetings; and

· contribute to the content of reports issued by and for the board including the annual reports.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we reopen services that unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. As a coordinator, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering our community service across the East Riding of Yorkshire through drop-ins offering:

• practical hearing aid support
• information on hearing loss and tinnitus
• hearing checks

You will be responsible for co-ordinating up to 15 drop-in services and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across the county of East Riding.

You will: 

1. Coordinate our volunteering team to deliver a high level of service at our RNID Near You drop-in sessions.
2. Recruit volunteers across the East Riding of Yorkshire to strengthen existing sessions and open new sessions as required.
3. Work with NHS audiology to induct and train our volunteers to high standards.
4. Promote our sessions to ensure maximum engagement from local hearing-aid users.
5. Ensure all paperwork is processed correctly and reports to stakeholders are timely completed.

You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals, and service users. You have experience managing your own workload and are able to work flexibly when required. You can motivate volunteers to assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, to give clear guidance and take into account individual wishes and health needs.

You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word. You will be able to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers and deliver an excellent service across East Riding of Yorkshire. While home based, regular travel to venues where we provide drop-in sessions will be required.
