Position Title: Family Liaison
Reporting to: Volunteer Leadership Team - Family Support Lead

Location: Swanley or able to travel to Swanley
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Organisation Overview
Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is a local charity formed in March 2017. We are a small and growing charity, whose volunteers and supporters have come together to welcome and help support the refugees who have fled the fighting and persecution in Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine, and are now resettling in our community.
Starting with just one refugee family, we have expanded our efforts over the years and are proud to have supported about 50 families as they settle and rebuild their lives in our community.
Purpose of Role:
Would you like to make a crucial difference for the better to the life and welfare of a refugee family as they settle into life in Britain helping them to achieve independence and social integration in their new surroundings? As a Family Liaison, you will be a vital friendly link and mentor for the family to help them navigate through difficulties that they may encounter on their path to independent living in our district. It is a very important and rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities: ● Where the family is new, help them to settle in and pass on requests for help and equipment. ● See over the welfare and requirements of the family which will change incrementally over time. The level of support should gradually diminish as the family becomes more independent. ● Liaise with local government support workers (Refugee Council) as needed while the family is still receiving support from them. ● Liaise with the team around the family - general support, language and education - so that they work together; moderate a Whatsapp group for all volunteers supporting the family, whatever their role. ● Encourage and monitor the family’s path to independence ● Liaise with Education, Language and Employment specialities.
● Keep the Volunteer Leadership Team (VLT) Family Support Lead up to date as needed.
Skills & Qualities Needed
You need to be:
● compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental

● flexible and adaptable to different family needs and cultural backgrounds.
● reasonably IT literate
It would help if you had a background in health, teaching, social services or other service related charities - BUT it is not essential, a practical attitude is needed.
Time and location
The weekly commitment might be 1-2 hours particularly initially, tapering down as the families become more independent. This is not an online job and the family is located in Swanley.
Support & Training Provided As well as general training for SWR volunteers on the essentials such as safeguarding and cultural awareness, we run workshops to find out more about how we can help children in their path through education, language learning and other matters that may be relevant. The VLT will ensure that the Family Liaison has support and backup as required and a mentor will be appointed to help a new Family Liaison in the initial stages of taking up the role.

Located in a semi-rural location, high on the edge of the Pennines, Derwentside College is based on a single site in the heart of the town of Consett. Our Board is led by our Chair, David Allsop, who has worked tirelessly with our Principal & CEO, Chris Todd, and other colleagues across our leadership team and board to refocus our direction and culture, and to grow our aspirations as a college.
Given the depth of our ambitions, we are now seeking to recruit further governors to our board. We are now welcoming applications from individuals with professional expertise in inclusion who can bring a new set of questions to ensure we remain a college serving everyone in our community and wider region.
Who we are looking for
To achieve our organisational aims, our Board must continue to consist of experts and experienced professionals who can provide the appropriate levels of challenge and questioning to enable us to grow, develop and improve.
Following a recent successful governor recruitment process and subsequent consideration of the expertise we need across our Board, we have identified that the area of inclusion is a priority for us. We seek candidates who can bring their professional expertise to scrutinise our practice and offer insights on how we can be more innovative in this area of our delivery.
We will welcome candidates from all manner of professional settings, but would be particularly interested in those who are delivering inclusion strategies in educational and charity settings.
- Expectations and Commitment
Time commitment: 10 hours per month
We ask our Board Members to commit to a four-year term of office. Appointed individuals will need to be able to attend five Corporation Board meetings per year, including our strategic away day in May. Board meetings take place on a Tuesday in person at the College and usually outside of the working day.
We estimate that our Governors dedicate around 10 hours per month to their roles, although with this particular focus, we may ask the appointed candidate to take on a ‘link governor’ role, which at times will lead to a need for greater time commitments.
Whilst previous governance experience is welcomed, it is not essential. All new governors are supported through a comprehensive induction and training process, with ongoing support thereafter.

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.
We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.
Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.
Volunteer recruitment dates
The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 25 January 2026. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 26 January and 6 February 2026. This is an opportunity for you to meet our regional team, to find out more about you and for us to share more information about the volunteering role.
Training:
You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. The next training sessions for volunteering for people applying to be a prison based volunteer will take place as follows.

Why we want you
Shannon Trust’s vision is of a future where everyone can experience the positive impact of learning. As a prison volunteer your role will be at the heart of our organisation as you support our mentors in prisons. This will include delivering training to new mentors and supporting existing mentors to develop and deliver our Turning Pages and Count Me In programmes. You will be volunteering alongside Shannon Trust facilitators and / or frontline prison staff to empower mentors and ensure no one is left out of learning.
What you will be doing
- Delivering initial, and ongoing, training to mentors in prisons
- Supporting and encouraging the Shannon Trust facilitator and mentors to attract new learners and expand the reach of the Shannon Trust programme
- Arranging and leading mentor meetings to develop mentors’ skills, share good practice and to provide support to mentors to find solutions to concerns
- Supporting facilitators to engage prison staff and people in prison to set-up, maintain and develop the Shannon Trust reading and numeracy programmes across the whole prison, and contributing to progress planning for how to progress and achieve this
- Using your skills to build positive relationships with frontline prison staff, people in prison and other organisations
- Training and supporting mentors to collect and submit data and learner feedback
- Supporting with the planning of, and attendance at, celebration events
- Collecting and sharing good news stories and feedback
- Attending area meetings and sharing good practice with other volunteers
- Engaging with quarterly reviews to receive support and discuss progress
- Acting as an ambassador for Shannon Trust in all that you do, sharing the vision and values of the charity throughout your volunteering
The skills you need
- A commitment to providing non-judgemental support to people in prison
- Able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years and have flexibility to visit the prison at times required
- Strong communication skills and are able to use these to inspire others
- Able to deliver engaging training and identify training and support needs for mentors
- Able to manage own time and prioritise
- Able to keep up to date with Shannon Trust news and communications and share relevant information with the wider prison team

We’re looking for new Trustees for the Board of Spear Bournemouth Trust, which runs the Spear Programme in partnership with Resurgo Trust, equipping and empowering unemployed 16 – 24-year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.
Responsibilities
Governance and meeting attendance
- Attend Trustee meetings (approx. 6-9 times a year)
- Responsibility for the governance of the Trust, including meeting any legal and Charity Commission requirements
- Ensure the Trust complies with all legal duties including annual reporting, audits, insurance and data management
Local relationship building
- Build relationships with individuals in local churches to build and develop a network of supporters for the Spear Programme
- Act as a spokesperson for Spear Bournemouth, building the charity’s profile locally
Income generation
- Develop and manage relationships with local donors or companies (working with Spear coaches and other trustees)
- Steward relationships with funders, keeping them engaged in the work of Spear Bournemouth
- Input into a fundraising strategy (with significant input and support from the Resurgo team) to fundraise ~£120,000 per year to cover the costs of the Spear Programme

- Develop strong working relationships with fellow Trustees
- Support the Spear coaches in line with Resurgo’s coaching approach, ensuring the centre continues to thrive and deliver outstanding impact
Active participation in and support for church team and mission
- As the Spear programme is run in partnership with local churches, the Trustees will ideally have a personal presence in a Bournemouth-based church and actively work with and support the mission of Love Church, a key partner. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events

Role Summary.
We are looking for a dedicated, technically strong volunteer to maintain and develop our infrastructure. You’ll be “behind the scenes,” managing servers, automations, tool integrations, and internal systems that keep Roots running smoothly.
This is not a software development role - you won’t be building new apps, but you will need to be hands-on with systems, scripts, and configurations.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The King’s Trust couldn’t function without the support of thousands of volunteers across the UK, who are able to offer a vital network to young people facing significant barriers to jobs, education or training.
Our employability and progression mentors provide one-to-one support, guidance, encouragement, and inspiration to a young person who has completed a King’s Trust Programme. As an employability and progression mentor, you will offer knowledge, experience, and support to young people as they develop the skills, confidence and motivation to succeed - either in education or further training, through work experience, volunteering or by securing a job of their choice.
Ideally a Progression Mentor will commit to around four to six hours per month for a minimum of 6 months. Relevant experience can be developed during the role but ideally a volunteer will have experience with building trust with young people from a range of backgrounds, mentoring skills, be a good communicator, be able to give and receive constructive corrective feedback and have experience of job searches, application process and interview experiences.

Lead the programme portfolio that changes how schools and employers support ADHD - and set the quality bar for a growing, mission-driven organisation. You will turn a robust business plan into measurable outcomes, while shaping a delivery model ready to scale nationally.
About the role
As Head of Programmes you will design, launch, and continuously improve ThriveSpark’s education and workplace offers (CPD for schools/MATs, employer licences, public courses, and a digital toolkit). You will build the associate facilitator bench, embed safeguarding and quality assurance, and evidence impact for clients, trustees, and investors. The role is voluntary at the outset with a clear pathway to a paid appointment as revenues scale.
Key responsibilities

Translate strategy into modular, evidence-based programmes with clear learning outcomes and delivery standards.

Own programme roadmaps, fidelity, and version control; maintain delivery playbooks and safeguarding protocols.

Recruit, onboard, and support an associate facilitator network; schedule delivery and optimise utilisation.

Set and track KPIs (attendance, attainment, exclusions, workplace retention, self-efficacy, NPS) and publish impact updates.

Partner on bids and proposals (MATs, local authorities, employers); provide pricing inputs and monitor unit economics.

Manage risk and compliance (UK GDPR, DPIAs, H&S), ensuring 100% safeguarding compliance.
About you

Significant experience leading programmes in education/training, social impact, health, or HR/OD.

Track record of designing scalable, outcomes-driven provision and running quality assurance at pace.

Excellent stakeholder skills with SENCos, MAT leaders, HR/OD and commissioners.

Confident with data, evaluation, and budgets; comfortable balancing impact and unit economics.

Deep commitment to neuro-inclusion; trauma-informed, culturally competent practice.

Desirable: work with MATs/LAs/NHS/large employers; DSL/safeguarding, SEND/EDI, or delivery management credentials.

Dorton college’s specialist approach which blends mainstream and specialist education creates a unique environment for students to grow their independance.
You will be helping young people to navigate their educational environment: preparing resources, assisting with movement and making sure young people are engaging with
Alongside this, you can also have the opportunity to get one on one experience, helping students to take notes and engage with the lesson, and supporting and running small group activities.
Moveover, Dorton college prides itself on helping our students to grow their independence. Volunteers would also have the opportunity to get involved in sessions designed to help grow learners independant skills such as cooking sessions, local community visits and utilising public transport.
This is a fantastic role if you are looking to gain experience in education or health and social care, especially in the SEN sphere.
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for volunteers who can contribute 1 half day per week, and as explained below, there are safeguarding checks to complete before you can start.

Volunteers Facilitators for elop’s Training & Education Service
elop’s Training and Education Service delivers workshops; training programmes; and consultancy to professionals and organisations working with the LGBT+ community. As a specialist in LGBT+ Mental Health and Wellbeing, we want to raise awareness of the challenges faced by our community and help organisations become more LGBT+ inclusive and affirmative. Our training programmes get people talking, thinking and planning for change that makes a real difference to LGBT+ people’s lives.
All our volunteer facilitators must positively identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/ or trans (Schedule
