Action for Refugees in Lewisham works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in Lewisham. At the Rainbow Club supplementary school we aim to help children between the ages of 4 and 11 to improve their literacy, numeracy and social skills in a friendly and supportive environment.  We need your skills and enthusiasm to assist the teacher in the delivery of a literacy and numeracy class and work with other volunteers to develop a programme of recreational activities. The Rainbow Club runs on Saturday mornings during term-time.

Your duties will include:

• Arriving punctually for the 9am briefing by the Rainbow Club Headteacher;
• Working in a team with other volunteers and teachers to deliver literacy, numeracy, arts, sport activities – this includes ensuring children remain engaged throughout the lesson and carry out set tasks as instructed by the teacher;
• Working one-to-one with specific children if and when required;
• Filing classroom work and homework in children’s individual files and keeping all materials and resources tidy and properly stored;
• Liaising with parents as and when required for example distributing leaflets and news about future meetings and events and also assisting with parents' day;
• Following the teacher’s policies on discipline and classroom management;
• Supervising the children during break times;
• Supporting the children during class trips;
• Ensuring classrooms are clean and tidy at the end of each day – this may include being part of a regular team rota;
• Providing feedback and comments to the Rainbow Club Headteacher when required.

We’re seeking a Volunteer Grants Fundraiser Coordinator to work alongside our Operational Director to identify suitable funders and shape compelling applications for our inclusive, sustainability-focused programmes. You won’t be on your own, you’ll collaborate closely with the Operational Director, using our project briefs, impact data, and templates.

What you’ll do

• Prospect & shortlist relevant trusts/foundations against our priorities

• Read and interpret funder guidelines, eligibility and scoring criteria

• Shape applications to reflect funder requirements and Willowbrook’s needs

• Draft/edit clear, concise proposals (including character-limited answers)

• Help assemble supporting documents and track deadlines/outcomes

• Join a brief weekly check-in with the Operational Director

About you:

• Strong written English and clear, persuasive style

• Able to decode funder requirements and tailor responses accordingly

• Good research and organisational skills; comfortable with simple trackers

Debt Advice Foundation is a registered national debt advice and education charity, based in Darwen, Lancashire.

The charity aims to tackle the causes and impact of problem debt.  We do this through our DebtAware education programme, which provides children with the knowledge and skills they’ll need to manage their money with confidence in years to come and through our free debt advice telephone helpline, for those that are impacted by debt today.

The role

What we are looking for

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking of our board.

You do not need previous governance experience.

Personal skills and qualities

• Enthusiasm for our vision and mission.
• Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.
• Effective communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with your Board colleagues is essential.
• A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to network on behalf of Debt Advice Foundation and connect the charity to relevant organisations.

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for an unlimited term of office.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

 Time commitment

 Attending four board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held at the charity’s office in Darwen, Lancashire.

Committee membership

Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

We want to increase the number of volunteers in Cranleigh and Woking areas as well as Guildford, Successful candidates would be expected to attend at least one training night per month at Guildford from 20:00 for 2 hours.

Interviews will be conducted at Guildford. Please bring documents for an ID Check.

Online learning will be required before a 2 day course will be taking place at the weekend in January

Do you live on the Wirral? Do you want to be the difference between a life saved and a life lost? We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across The Wirral (including Birkenhead, Wallasey, Heswall, West Kirby and Bromborough). We welcome anyone but especially interested in applicants that are available during the week.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - November
Training for role - Training for Role will take place in January/February 2026.
