The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Fundraising and Events Lead to join our growing team. This is a new and exciting opportunity to shape the future of M7 Education’s fundraising strategy and be the driving force behind our next phase of growth.

You’ll take the lead in developing new income streams, building strong relationships with donors and fundraisers, and creating inspiring fundraising events and campaigns. Working closely with the CEO, you’ll have the freedom to innovate, test new ideas, and lay the groundwork for a future fundraising function within the charity.

This is a hands-on role that’s perfect for someone with experience in charity fundraising and event management who’s eager to make a tangible difference in education.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase income across multiple channels.
• Manage relationships with individual fundraisers, supporting their journeys and ensuring excellent stewardship.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver fundraising events — both third-party events (such as the SuperHalfs series) and M7-run initiatives.
• Research, write, and submit compelling grant applications to trusts and foundations.
• Lead creative fundraising campaigns that engage new supporters and promote M7 Education’s mission.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and community partners.
• Monitor fundraising performance, prepare reports, and evaluate impact to inform future growth.
• Contribute to the development of a future fundraising team, including volunteers and, in time, staff members.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in charity fundraising, with a track record of generating income.
• Proven experience in event planning and delivery.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• Confident working independently and taking initiative in a small, fast-moving team.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically about income growth.

Desirable:

• Experience in the education or children’s charity sector.
• Skills in communications, social media, or email campaigns.
• Understanding of sporting events and community fundraising (e.g. marathons, challenges).
• Experience writing successful grant or trust funding applications.

The Community Engagement Officer is an essential role in fostering strong relationships with current and prospective members of the School Library Association community. The postholder will provide frontline support, drive online and in person engagement through outreach initiatives, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the membership base. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about school libraries, children's books, education, and community-building. An expert communicator, you will be experienced in developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels and relish a busy role.

Coordinating and supporting our Branch network, you will collaborate on initiatives for development, delivery and new projects as they come online. You will be the first port of call for advice and expertise relating to school libraries and enabling our members to more effectively support their school communities. As resident children’s book expert, you will help with initiatives such as the SLA Information Book Award and member book related events. Supporting the delivery of online and in-person networking events and workshops for members, you will work with your SLA colleagues, in particular the Training and Events Officer, to deliver a high-quality member offer and to ensure member needs are reflected in all offerings. The ability to travel to training and events across the UK is essential. Duties include:

Branch network and member support

• Support the SLA Branch Network and member outreach
• Identify opportunities for developing initiatives to grow and develop the Branch network community, that will deliver on the SLA mission
• Develop strong relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders to support network growth and enable members to take full advantage of all relevant opportunities available to them
• Provide advice for SLA members on all aspects of school libraries, ensuring they are supported and can be as effective as possible in their school communities 
• Drive engagement and development of online communities as part of the branch network
• Coordinate the mentoring scheme and ensure it is promoted effectively, with necessary support and development available to mentees and training for mentors

 Training and events

• Support the development and delivery of a calendar of online and in-person networking and engagement events and workshops
• Represent the association at relevant events and for programmes (e.g., conferences, webinars, book awards)
• Support development of training programmes, toolkits and resources using member insight to inform

Outreach and communications

• Use sector insight to identify opportunities for development of research and other initiatives, maintaining links and horizon scanning
• Provide SLA consultancy aligned with strategic approaches, supporting schools with development of their libraries, reading and information literacy provision to help children and young people reach their full potential
• Contribute to SLA communications such as TSL, newsletters, updates, and promotional materials
• Oversee the book review process in support of TSL, our quarterly journal

An ability to foster collaboration and community engagement will be an important part of this role. All team members contribute to office admin, maintaining member data and general office support.

To be successful in this role you should ideally be able to demonstrate:

• experience of working in school libraries, the education sector and a strong understanding of the education landscape
• strong knowledge of children and young people’s literature across the age ranges
• understanding of the curriculum and teaching and learning outcomes
• experience developing and delivering inspirational training, online and in person
• experience creating training resources, toolkits, teaching and learning activities
• the ability to galvanise and inspire others with flair and creativity
• the ability to multi-task, manage own workload, prioritise and meet competing deadlines
• the ability to work hours flexibly around event and training delivery

The salary for this position is £19, 594.59 (FTE £29,000) for 25 hours per week, and comes with a 6% employer pension contribution.

This is a remote working role, with regular all team meetings which you will be required to attend, in addition to training and events across the UK and online. Working patterns can be negotiated. About your team 

You’ll be joining our brilliant South Region team, which covers our largest region from Kent to Cornwall, offering numerous opportunities to contribute your expertise in a variety of contexts, from urban and suburban to coastal and rural settings. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides, we’d like to see these numbers grow significantly over the next few years. 

In the south region we have the highest density of Christian holidays and festivals, with events that we organise and run directly and a variety of festival and missions that we support and partner with. You’ll have a fantastic opportunity each summer to get hands on engaged in these mission and festivals throughout the year. 

Our South Region also includes our vibrant capital, one of the most multicultural and ethnically diverse cities in the world, with over 300 languages spoken. With many like-minded missional organisations having a footprint in and around the capital, and all of the Christian movements and denominations represented here, London holds key strategic value and will be the focus of your ministry activities. You’ll be joining an exceptional and growing team of five staff. We are particularly interested in how sports, arts, and culture can be explored to further enable the mission both in London and across SU and would be particularly interested in candidates with expertise in either of these areas.

About the role 

Scripture Union England & Wales (SU) one of the UK’s longest-established children and youth ministry organisations is  working in partnership with Activate, an exciting local sport and wellbeing project, to offer this unique role to reach many more young people in the Bushy Park area and across the South of England through physical activity. 

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for using sport to help children and young people across the South of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. 

This unique role combines the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in a local context, delivering mission through sport activities and programmes, while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry across the South region. The ideal candidate will have equal passion and experience in both contexts. 

Key details: Employed by Scripture Union you will spend three days per week developing sports mission across London and the South. For two days per week, you will work on the Activate sports and wellbeing project working across the Bushy Park area.

Since 2015, SU has had a dedicated Mission Through Sport team which contributes directly towards this outreach to the 95. We have recently developed some innovative new resources, aligned with the RJ framework, which the post holder will be involved in both delivering and equipping others to utilise. These include our flagship programme called Holy Ground which empowers churches to adopt a local sports space in their community to connect with the 95 in their context. Half Time is our brand new Explore-Respond resource which uses sports-themed videos and fun games to help the 95 to explore the life of Jesus by journeying through Mark’s Gospel. 

About Activate 

Activate is a sport and physical activity-based programme, formed in 2018, seeking to build community through wellbeing that invigorates faith.  Activate seeks to release God’s people to join in his mission through sport and physical activity in the areas surrounding Bushy Park. This includes gathering, encouraging and empowering local Christians involved in sports ministry, including expressions of chaplaincy and missional communities centred around sports clubs, centres, educational settings and gyms.  A number of local churches across denominations and Dioceses have been supporters of the project. 

In the past Activate has supported sports projects in local schools, an activity-based church service, wellbeing cafe sessions, exercise sessions for the elderly and youth activities.  The successful candidate will be involved in re-launching Activate’s mission after a break due to staff changes. 

About your team

With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of a national-focused sports team at SU, as well as the south team with a regional focus and the local context with Activate. You’ll work out of the office of St Peter’s Church, West Molesey, benefiting from the support of a local parish-based team including clergy and youth workers. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas across the south.
