We are recruiting for a number of roles in our GMIRS Wellbeing Service, providing support to people on probation. There are roles at both project worker and team leader level.

Back on Track is part of a partnership of charities working in local communities across Greater Manchester to deliver the GMIRS Wellbeing Service. The service aims to reduce reoffending by working with people to improve their physical, emotional, and mental health and wellbeing, foster healthy relationships and move forward in their lives.
 
We are looking for three project workers (salary £27,800 – £32,000) who will build strong relationships with people who join the programme, provide 1:1 wellbeing support and guidance, and support with practical challenges including debt, low level housing needs, finance and benefits.

We are also looking for two team leaders (£31,400 – £33,650) who will bring knowledge and experience to directly support participants of the programme, offer support and guidance to project workers, and provide coordination and developmental support to the Manchester GMIRS Wellbeing Service.

In all roles you will be working with people who have a range of needs. This will include people who have experienced trauma, who have been homeless or lived in poverty, and people who face difficulties with mental health and problematic drug and alcohol use.

About the job

We are seeking a confident and experienced Modern Slavery Case Worker Assistant with a wide range of skills and importantly, a ‘can do’ approach. As a Modern Slavery Case Worker Assistant, you will provide high quality practical and emotional support to potential victims of modern slavery within a safehouse setting.

You will work as a member of the team providing a safe temporary environment for vulnerable adults who have experienced trauma and exploitation. The role will involve assisting service users with increasing practical skills and self-confidence to empower and enable independent and safe living.

This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Applicants must be willing to work flexibly, which will include on call duties, evenings, weekends and bank. Both roles will work between two properties approx. 4 miles apart on a Rota basis. A full induction and continuous training will be given.

The 30 hour per week post will be shifts from 4pm-10pm, 5 days per week, however, the initial induction will consist of day shifts until knowledge of safe house is comprehensive.

You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults, the ability to work within a ‘risk associated’ environment and ideally experience of working within a residential or community setting with non-UK citizens. Relevant social care qualifications or suitable experience of supporting vulnerable people is essential.

YMCA West Sussex Transitional housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people aged 18-25, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. Our staff team comprises of Supported Housing Support Workers, Mobile Night Workers and two Managers. We offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.

In delivering the role, you will work with the Deputy Supported Housing Manager and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our transitional accommodation service. You will have your own caseload of residents, working creatively and effectively alongside young people to develop their assets and talents and to acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the service by providing consistency and reliability. You will have a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk. There will be times when lone working will be a requirement for this role.

This includes delivering one to one sessions and group work sessions to assist residents to develop personally and socially in order that they grow in confidence and move towards independence. Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays. There is a small amount of lone working, but you will get to know the team and project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

Are you passionate about improving support for families affected by substance misuse?

This could be the perfect role for you! The Family Support Worker is an exciting role within a growing and dynamic team, where you can help to make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Lambeth. 

Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

The successful candidate will have personal lived experience of mental health problems, as well as experience of managing staff or volunteers. You will need to be able to travel around the local area to meet your clients in the community and work in hospitals.

You will use your lived experience to help people build skills to develop independence, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, get more involved in their local community and stay healthy and mentally well. Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, facilitating access to community activities and providing practical and emotional support. Lambeth Step Forward Recovery Cluster is an accommodation based service, set across Lambeth including hub sites situated in Brixton and West Norwood. The service provides care and support to over 60 customers living with enduring long term mental health. We also provide a service for two short-term post hospital discharge schemes for customers, who need support following hospital admission.

The role of our Support Worker play's a crucial role in fulfilling our customers expectations, making a positive difference and where appropriate supporting customers to step down to a lower level of support. Our Support Worker's are guided and mentored by 2 team leaders alongside a Contract Manager and as part of the team you will be developing and sustaining a good quality service to all our customers. We are looking for a Housing Mobile Night Worker to provide floating support to our teams in high support 24-hour projects as well as medium support and transitional housing units to ensure that our properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be working across Brighton and Hove as well as Worthing to support the static night worker during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties.

Working on site you will be responsible for ensuring the service is safe by keeping clear records of night time activity within the building. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures.  You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.

Our Mobile Night Workers work on four nights on, four nights off rota, working 8pm-7am including working over weekends and bank holidays. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of and help shape a new DHSC funded project - Early Support Hubs - providing innovative ways to support Young People’s (11 – 25 years) Mental Health and Wellbeing across the borough of Hackney.

This Early Intervention approach will enable young people to access support in a timely way within their own community and we will work collaboratively with the Hackney Super Youth Hub enabling a one stop shop experience for local young people.

We are looking for passionate and motivated Therapeutic Youth Workers who are committed to supporting positive change for local young people to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

· Undertake 1:1, group, detached and outreach work with young people

· Provide one-to-one key-working up to 12 sessions, combining youth work values and principles with a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to help address a wide range of issues that may impact on young people’s mental health and wellbeing e.g. housing, employment, physical health, education, finances and relationships.

· Use a supportive, young person-centred approach. e.g. explaining what services are and what they do, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date, filling out forms together, making personal introductions, accompanying young people to initial meetings/sessions, being with them during phone calls etc.  

· To work with the Hackney Super Youth Hub, to support young people and liaise with appropriate professionals in the network.

· To maintain confidential, up to date and accurate records of all sessions and plans.

· Be an advocate for young people, supporting colleagues to understand adolescence, and how to engage with young people, particularly with concerns around:

o mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

o Supporting vulnerable groups who would not otherwise receive support (levelling-up).

o Improving children and young people’s engagement with EET.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):

· QCF Level 3 Diploma in Youth work or equivalent and have experience of youth work in a youth work setting

· Experience of working with young people, delivering therapeutic groups and/or 1 to 1 interventions in a youth work or similar setting.

· To have an active interest in working with those affected by mental health issues and recognise the impact this has on their life.

· Experience of building positive, impactful relationships with young people responding to their needs

· Excellent, up to date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding needs and risks young people may face.

· Experienced in working as part of a safeguarding team around a child, i.e. Childrens services, education, CAMHS, etc

· Experience of working in with an outreach role, in the community and school settings.

· Confident working well independently as well as in a team setting.

· Ability to use own initiative and be able to respond to change as part of a pilot initiative.

· Computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite (incl. Outlook and Word), with ability to accurately input sensitive data electronically

Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person centred risk assessments; support plans and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people. Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. Furthermore they will actively seek out ways to work with the team and stakeholders to improve the experience of young people in the service.
