Purpose of the job

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is a unique and dynamic membership organisation which comprises 15 of the UK’s leading humanitarian agencies.

Purpose of the role:
We are seeking a Peer Support Worker who has personal lived experience of mental health challenges. This individual will act as a role model for service users, utilizing their own recovery journey to instil hope and resilience. By sharing their life experiences and the lessons learned throughout their recovery, they will motivate others.
The Peer Support Worker will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team within the Unit, assisting in-patients in developing essential skills and coping mechanisms, while promoting overall wellness through strength based and non-directive conversations. They will provide both practical and emotional support, facilitate access to community resources to help individuals maintain their independence while ensuring their wellbeing.

The ward is for people, aged 18-65, who have severe mental illness. We provide 24-hour rehabilitation, treatment and care for people who live in the London Borough of Croydon.
Our service is for people who would benefit from six months to two years rehabilitation. We help people to maintain their health and move towards greater independence in the community.

Job Purpose:
The Community Fundraising and Events Lead role is key to us as we explore fundraising opportunities on a local level in our communities. The successful candidate will support Community Fundraising Volunteers as they take part in various challenge and fundraising events across England, Scotland and Wales, helping us to reach our goals of growing our unrestricted revenue base. We work alongside people to help them escape poverty, build confidence, and find community.
Our principal activity is the prevention of food poverty and food insecurity by offering culturally appropriate food, fresh fruits, and vegetables as well as dietary and religiously appropriate food which we have continued to run at our five-week sessions to local people for as long as they address the underlying cause.
We also provide a range of wraparound support, including advice services, particularly around employment and immigration through our Back2Work Team, Holiday Clubs for Children, Youth Groups, a Clothing Bank and our Spring Up Women’s group.

About the role
We’re recruiting for a Regional Manager - a role that some people may consider daunting, but we'll support you every step of the way. All that we ask is that you dive in, embrace our culture and use your natural leadership skills to develop your team.
As Regional Manager, you’ll lead a diverse team across group of up to 16 shops within our London region, inspiring them to deliver ambitious targets and exceptional standards. Reporting into the Head of Operations, you’ll be accountable for all aspects of performance across your region:
· Consistent sales growth through innovation, sales analysis, improving operational efficiencies and controlling costs – generating income to fund Mind’s vital mental health support services
· Creatively finding new ways to acquire stock donations and to recruit volunteers
· Actively looking for new shop locations including large format shops, using your knowledge of the region
· Working with local Minds to promote their services and to understand the potential of developing meaningful partnerships.
We’re looking for someone who is an experienced leader, with a track record of delivering results through developing and motivating their people. We’re also looking for someone who is commercially aware, has strong strategic planning skills, understands retail and who lives and breathes our values:
