Camden Learning is therefore looking to appoint a new Independent Chair to lead its Board and support the Executive team.

We are looking for a Policy Manager to join our dynamic and well-respected policy team. Our team’s mission is to ensure people affected by dementia benefit from the progress in research, by providing evidence and insights to influence decision-makers. This ranges from making the case to increase investment in dementia research, promoting the concept of good Brain Health to reduce the risk of developing dementia through to preparing health systems to be ready for future dementia treatments.

Policy and Public Affairs team encourages creativity and new ways of doing things. The post holder will have opportunities to take initiative and work on projects that take the charity in new directions. The postholder will report to the Head of Policy (Access and Innovation), working across the wider Policy and Public Affairs team. The team takes a matrix approach to our work, using the skills and expertise across the team to maximise impact of a project. The role is based near Cambridge and will include work in London and elsewhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio

As an agile organisation the portfolio of the team is constantly evolving. Currently focus areas for the role will be :

· Increase government investment in dementia research, working with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s research team to articulate priorities for spending and ensure we have robust policy proposals which government can implement. There will be a particular focus on clinical trial infrastructure and recruiting a more diverse range of participants in research

· Clinical engagement, by managing and growing our clinical engagement activities and the planning of our annual clinical conference.

· Strengthening the team’s patient and public involvement and engagement work. This will involve champion PPI across the wider team, managing our current public and patient forums and leading a programme of work to ensure our engagement is innovative and sector leading. 

· Leading work to ensure our Stats Hub is accurate, timely and best supports our policy and data analysis work.

Policy development

· To develop and manage programmes of work on key strategic policy areas that position ARUK as a key influencer both nationally and internationally.  This may include the commissioning of external evidence generation.

· Provide expertise on the relevant evidence, insight and policy context to enable the development of new innovative policy ideas and solutions that deliver on our strategic priorities.

· Manage the development of substantial and credible policy outputs, including briefings, reports, submissions to government departments and their agencies, parliamentary committees, and other UK and international organisations as appropriate.

· Working with the communications team to ensure our policy work is disseminated to our key audiences via a range of appropriate channels in order to maximise our reach and impact.

· Develop and maintain mechanisms to keep abreast of the policy environment relevant to the portfolio of the post.

· Analyse, interpret and make judgements on complex project activities, delegating and managing the policy advisors to achieve set deliverables through their management of day-to-day activities. As Policy and Public Affairs works in a matrix structure this may include managing deliverables with policy advisors across the team.

· Support the join-up between projects and across the wider team to ensure shared knowledge and the opportunity to maximise influence and impact.

Stakeholder engagement and management

· To develop and manage stakeholder engagement of key policy contacts, developing relationships within the research and the wider clinical field across a range of organisations.

· Actively promote patient and public involvement in the development and delivery of projects.

· Work with Public Affairs colleagues to strengthen existing and emerging relationships with political and other parliamentary stakeholders to maximise the impact of our policy work.

· To attend external working groups and help develop partnerships beneficial to ARUK.

· Work with other charities to ensure ARUK is playing a leadership role in shaping government medical research policy.

Research and data analysis

· To oversee the analysis of necessary data and understanding, working with other ARUK colleagues, to produce accurate, timely and insightful policy materials, briefings and media stories.

Line Management Responsibilities

· To line manage and develop a Policy Advisor, providing coaching mentoring and performance management as appropriate.

· Work with Heads of Policy and other Managers to support our team mission, wider team development and our commitment to excellence.

What we are looking for:

· Educated to Degree Level – or equivalent

· Experience and success in policy development and influencing change.

· Experience of building constructive relationships with stakeholders across multiple organisations, especially within a biomedical research or health setting.

· Experience of writing and reviewing complex policy reports.

· Understanding of range of channels for communicating policy work.

· Experience of line management

· Experience of delivering consultation responses and working with government teams to embed ideas.

· Confidence working with computers – good knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Program Manager will work across the whole organisation, towards the successful development of the values and the proven model in a second site; and its partnership with the Essex site will be an important part of the role.

Camp Jojo is growing from a young, largely trustee led, organisation to a staff team led organisation. Again this role will be a fundamental part of that transition. This is a predominantly an operational post, and not responsible for the finances of organisation, though it will deliver operations within the board approved budget. They will also sit on, or chair, several of the Committees of the charity; including the Senior Operations Team.

The role will offer leadership to key functions of Camp Jojo, Camp Jojo staff and contractors, and to members of the Camp Jojo Board, in relation to the work of the charity. Whilst the majority of the work will be remote the incumbent will be required to attend some meetings and events in person, including at both sites. They will also be required to attend at least part of the actual camp events. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.

The Program Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, interact professionally with the Camp Jojo community and be very good communicators. They will deal with model consistency, values, and operational issues across both sites. 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. The Legal Counsel is responsible for advising and challenging senior colleagues, ensuring the provision of sound legal advice and guidance. They will oversee legal compliance, manage legal risk mitigation efforts and take ownership of legal processes to enable the smooth operation of our organisation.

This position will take accountability for developing and implementing the charity’s legal strategies, ensuring that legal risks are proactively identified, managed, and mitigated effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

 Compliance and Regulations

· Take ownership of monitoring and advising on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the charity, including but not limited to charity law, data protection, health and safety.

· Oversee the development and execution of strategies to address legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.

· Ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks, to include the creation and maintenance of a legal register.

· Proactively identify, monitor, address, and report on legal (and where appropriate other business) issues of significance.

Contracts

· Take responsibility for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts including, but not limited to commercial, research, collaboration contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and mitigating potential risks.

· Oversee the provision of timely and pragmatic legal advice on matters of contract law, intellectual property rights, employment law, governance, and other relevant areas, ensuring alignment with our organisational goals.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

· Take ownership of managing legal disputes, litigation, and other legal matters, ensuring effective collaboration with external counsel to safeguard the charity’s interests.

· Identify and address legal risks proactively and escalate more complex legal matters when appropriate.

· Provide specialist advice to ensure foreseeable legal risks are effectively identified.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

· Be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the integration of legal input into decision-making processes.

· Take responsibility for developing and delivering training sessions and workshops to ensure employees and stakeholders are well informed on legal matters, contracts, policies, and procedures.

· Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 What we are looking for:

· Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK, with a current practicing certificate, sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice, and relevant post-qualification experience in-house and / or in private practice.

· Strong knowledge of contract law, and the drafting of agreements, negotiating contracts and developing compliance.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of UK legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to charitable organisations.

· Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and accessible advice to non-legal stakeholders.

· Extensive demonstrable post-qualification experience.

· Solution focused, pragmatic, and able to apply legal knowledge and good practice in day-to-day work.

· Able and prepared to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues which affect the organisation.

What you'll do:

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for building strong working relationships across the business and advising, coaching and training stakeholders and the People team on best practice on all aspects of HR case work. This includes (but not limited to) disciplinary, grievances, absence management, probations, restructures and TUPE as well as training and coaching managers to enable them to successfully manage their teams whilst effectively managing risks.

About you:

Offering best practice and pragmatic advice on all areas relating to HR Case work with the outcome of aiming to manage risks and reach successful resolution
Working with managers and staff to resolve conflict and grievances at the lowest level of formality possible
Addressing employee raised issues/concerns
Coaching and advising managers on policies/procedures, best practice and identifying risks/costs
Ensuring compliance with employment law and policy and processes
Ensuring all casework is dealt with in a timely and pragmatic way
Facililate change - supporting and advising on restructures, TUPE etc
Being a 'trusted advisor' to the business on all aspects of employee relations
Support on succession mapping: Provide support in identifying current and future skills requirements, succession gaps.
Support on HR induction and other HR related training
Building a good working relationship with the wider People team to ensure the effective working of the whole team
Ensure people management practices reflect employee brand, values and expected behaviours
Health & Wellbeing: Provide guidance to business on best practice approach to dealing with and supporting life events and issues relating to health and wellbeing, including reasonable adjustments and referral to Occupational Health.

Essential:

Excellent HR experience with a strong emphasis on Employee Relations
Ability to effectively influence, challenge and negotiate within their business area on a range of people/HR issues

Essential Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in gaming, influencer marketing, or a related field, with a strong understanding of the gaming industry.
• Passion for gaming and knowledge of trends, platforms, and community engagement practices.
• Proficiency in analysing data to assess performance, determine strategies, and make informed decisions.
• Experience with social media platforms, content creation tools, and gaming comms software.
• Experience in leading and inspiring creative teams while managing projects and resources.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, social media platforms, and analytics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and partners.
• Ability to develop and execute a long-term vision and strategy in gaming and influencer marketing.
• Strong relationship-building skills to connect with influencers, gaming communities, and industry partners.
• In-depth knowledge of current trends in the gaming industry, including emerging technologies and popular games.
• Understanding of influencer dynamics, audience engagement strategies, and campaign management.
• Familiarity with content creation processes, including video production, streaming, and social media management.
• Background in project management and/or team leadership.
• Understanding brand development and how to align marketing efforts with business objectives.
• A personal interest and enthusiasm for gaming trends and communities can enhance authenticity and engagement with stakeholders.
• Flexibility to adapt to rapid changes in the gaming and social media landscape is important.
• Using technology to support planning and prioritisation such as project management tools, including the ability to use MS Office tools such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to support delivery of work.

Core Purpose
As a visionary leader, the Head of Gaming is responsible for shaping and scaling our gaming strategy, 
unlocking £1m annual income within 3 years. The role drives innovation forges strategic partnerships and 
aligns gaming initiatives and the power of play with Make-A-Wish UK’s mission to deliver life-changing 
impact for critically ill children. Working closely with senior leaders, the Head of Gaming champions cross-functional collaboration, embeds data-driven performance and fosters a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities for the role are:
Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement the overall strategy for gaming aligned with the overarching Make-A-Wish UK organisational goals and market trends.
• Monitor and identify growth opportunities within the gaming sector that are unique to Make-A-Wish   UK, including (but not limited to) development of strategic partnerships,   product diversification to drive sustainable income growth, and market expansion to position Make-A-Wish as the go-to charity for the gaming sector.
• Collaborate with the extended leadership team to execute the gaming strategy and ensuring the journey and development priorities align with our overall Income & Engagement goals and growth targets.
• Establish Objectives, shared KPIs and other performance metrics that drive alignment with common priorities and focus across teams to deliver on growth targets.
• Attend appropriate industry events and conferences to cement Make-A-Wish UK as contender within the UK videogame sector.
• Lead stakeholder management of high-value and   high-profile gaming contacts, including senior Make-A-Wish advisors within the gaming industry

 Team Management:

• Lead and motivate the Gaming and Influencer Officer by providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
• Promote a creative and collaborative work environment to drive innovative partnerships, creativity and innovation.

 Gaming Group Wish

• Oversee the entire gaming group wish development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget.
• Scale the group wish within the sector and develop commercial opportunities that resonates with the gaming audience.
• Leverage storytelling to engage with gaming influencers within the gaming community

 Partnership Development:

• Establish and nurture relationships with external partners, including publishers, hardware manufacturers, distributors, and platform holders.
• Identify, negotiate, and maintain relationships with gaming influencers and content creators.
• Collaborate with Brand and Corporate Partnerships to ensure the content and pitch is engaging for partnerships, campaigns and promotions.

Campaign Execution:

• Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of gaming-related marketing campaigns.
• Ensure that campaigns align with the company's objectives and target audience.

Performance Analysis:

• Monitor campaign performance metrics and provide insightful reports to stakeholders.
• Adjust strategies based on performance data to improve engagement and ROI.
• Continuously analyse, refine, and optimise workflows, tools, and processes across gaming to increase lead time to value, reduce blocks, improve resource allocation and enhance productivity.
• Proactively identify and monitor risks that could impact product development timelines, from technical challenges to resource gaps, and proactively develop mitigation strategies

 Income generation:

• Identify and prioritise opportunities for the   growth of income, gift in kind and networks in areas of Gaming for Make-A-Wish. This includes collaborating with the corporate partnerships team and relevant internal teams for new Gaming partners and sponsors for MAW.

Budget Management:

• Manage the budget for gaming and influencer marketing initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources in line with operational needs.
• Ensure cost-efficiency and return on investment for game projects.

Wishgranting:

• Support connections to help grant wishes for children with gaming-related wishes by establishing relationships with industry partners, networks and individuals who can help.
