We’re growing our strategic people capability and are recruiting two People Business Partners on a two-year fixed-term contract.  One role will suit an experienced, all-round HR Business Partner. The second role will suit an all-round HR Business Partner who also brings proven Learning & Development expertise to help us drive a culture of continuous learning and develop high-performing leaders across the charity.

About the Roles

As part of our Business Partnering Team within the wider People Team, both roles will provide informed, consistent, and strategic support to allocated directorates—helping senior leaders build engaged, high-performing teams in a HR Business partnering capacity.

As a successful applicant, you’ll embed yourself in your directorates: acting as a trusted adviser to Heads of, facilitating problem-solving conversations, and ensuring managers are empowered for day-to-day people needs.

You’ll be the single point of contact for people matters in your directorate. You’ll use metrics to provide your directorate with insights to ensure conversations start with data and decision making is data informed and constructively challenged when required.  You’ll be supporting delivery of HR processes, managing complex cross-functional projects, driving positive change in the employee journey and supporting the charity to attract, hire, and retain top talent.

L&D-Focused Opportunity: If you bring solid Learning & Development experience, you’ll also play a key role in identifying skill gaps, shaping training plans, and supporting the development agenda across the charity—accelerating our learning culture.  

About You

You’re collaborative and resilient with the ability to operate strategically while staying hands-on. You have proven experience as a HR and/or L&D Business Partner (or similar role) and are confident building strong relationships with senior leaders and managers across multiple functions.

You stay calm under pressure, manage challenging situations constructively, and juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment—planning ahead yet adapting when things change.

You work autonomously, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions grounded in employment law and HR best practice. Proficiency with HR Information Systems is also essential.

You bring the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, and commitment—and you’re motivated by teamwork, transparency, and doing the right thing for our people.

You hold a CIPD level 5 (or have equivalent experience) with demonstratable HR business partnering success. Previous experience in L&D information systems (preferably Kallidus) will be beneficial, particularly for those wishing to apply for the Learning and Development focused role, though not essential.

You hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes. You are willing and able to travel regularly for in-person meetings and events—often to Downton (SP5 3RB) or London, with occasionally travel to other UK locations. Central London travel will be by train.

You are also comfortable staying away from home overnight on occasion, when required to support events or team activities.

At Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) we champion animal welfare around the world. We send vets where they are needed most, provide expert veterinary training in hard-to-reach places, and ship urgent aid supplies worldwide, every day of the year.

We deploy teams of vets and vet nurses, send equipment and supplies to help struggling organisations on the front line of animal welfare, and train vets at our international training centres in India, Thailand, Malawi and the Galápagos Islands.  We also work on strategic one health projects such as rabies elimination campaigns with Governments and NGOs all over the world.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 Policy and Governance

• Assist with organisation of trustee meetings.
• Maintain up-to-date records of policies, procedures, and statutory documentation.
• Support compliance with Charity Commission requirements.
• Coordinate risk management processes, policy reviews and ensure timely updates and dissemination.
• Work closely with colleagues to provide technical advice and ease the implementation of policies at WVS projects around the world.

We are seeking a Stakeholder Engagement and Comms Manager

The National Safeguarding Team provides professional safeguarding advice to the Church of England on matters of national policy as part of its wider transformation plan, which includes the development and implementation of national policy, training, quality assurance and audit, and work with survivors. The national safeguarding team also leads complex casework and supports dioceses in their safeguarding of children and adults.

The Redress Scheme project is part of the Church of England's Safeguarding Programme, which aims to embed structure, quality assurance and continuous improvement in line with its Safeguarding principles. Following the Church of England's recently approval of a comprehensive redress scheme for survivors of Church-related abuse, the project is now moving into the implementation phase, and we are looking for a new member of the team to help us prepare for the opening the Scheme.

The role will work with multiple NCI departments involving, for example, HR & Payroll, Finance & Resources, Legal, among many others as well as Safeguarding Bishops and Safeguarding teams of the Church of England in support to the mission of the Church of England and this Programme's in particular, as well as external stakeholders, including the media. To assist this project, there is a requirement for a Stakeholder Engagement and Comms Manager role to be performed by a specialist with relevant experience and expertise.

What you'll be doing

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Church's Redress Scheme. This high-profile project requires a strategic communicator and relationship-builder who can lead engagement efforts across the wider Church and National Church Institutions (NCI) staff, ensuring clarity, sensitivity, and impact in all communications.

As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive stakeholder engagement and communications strategy, acting as the face of the programme and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed, consulted, and supported throughout the Scheme's development and launch.

Summary of main responsibilities

• Lead stakeholder engagement across diocesan and cathedral safeguarding teams, NCI staff, and external media.

Your Salary

• A salary of £59,248 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

• Overseeing administrative tasks for all research projects
• Supporting the Programme Development Team Lead in management of all research projects
• Liaising with the Support Coach team to connect with facilitators/parents for data collection e.g. supporting with the running of focus groups
• Using Kids Matter’s CRM to confidently record communication with consultants and Research Assistants
• Supporting the data gathering process for all our evaluation data including maintaining data integrity by performing regular data audits and cleaning parent data ready for the Research Assistants to analyse

We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and creative individual with experience of working with children and families to join a small but highly motivated team. Our mission as a charity is to create brighter todays and better tomorrow for the children and families of Noah’s Ark. The Sparkle Fund plays a vital role in the first part of that mission, creating brighter days for inpatient families by delivering our ‘over and above’ service on the wards. Due to the popularity and success of this project and following a very successful The Big Give campaign in December 2024, we are looking to expand the team.

There are many ways in which you will be providing joy, fun and moments of sparkle to the patients and families in the hospital. The role is very varied, and no two days are the same! In any given week you could be organising hospital wide activities for Easter, celebrating a birthday with a long-term patient, arranging for a massage therapist to provide a break for parents, and distributing essentials packs for a family arriving to hospital in an emergency.

Position: Programme Officer

Reporting to: Senior Programme Manager

Location: Sidcup, Greater London, and hybrid working of 1 day in the office and 4 days remote (subject to change)

Contract Type: Permanent and full-time

Starting Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 gross per annum (based on experience) plus benefits

Purpose

The Programme Officer will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of project delivery activities across our portfolio, predominantly in Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. 

The post holder will support project delivery, ensuring quality expectations (internal and client), delivering within the scope and budgeted resources of projects, and in line with project timelines. The post holder will work closely with other members of the project delivery team, our technical team, delivery partners, and consultants to ensure projects maximise their positive impact.

The Programme Officer will also support the Senior Programme Manager to disseminate good management practice across the organisation, and advise on delivery approaches.

Main Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Programme Officer include the following:

Project Support

• Provide support to Programme Managers in the delivery of projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope and comply with client contracts
• Take on the project management of assigned select projects within a determined budget/complexity threshold, ensuring that they are delivered to time and quality
• Set-up and monitor project workplans, including change requests ensuring that approvals are formally recorded and filed
• Manage day-to-day relationships with delivery partners and internal team(s) and build a solid understanding of delivery needs and timelines across projects
• Monitor and support timely client and consultant billing and invoices attached to delivery
• Support onboarding of consultants for new projects, including due diligence checks and contract preparation based on set templates
• Ensure project management software and tools are accurate and kept up to date for allocated projects
• Provide timely responses to client queries and alert the Head of UK/Kenya Programme Management of any potential risks
• Lead duty of care and travel planning for staff and consultants, working alongside administrative officers
• Liaise closely with technical colleagues, Head of team, and Programme Managers / Officers on project support needs.

 Project Financial Management

• Monitor project budget performance, capturing variances and liaising with the Finance Team and Head of UK/Kenya Programme Management
• Monitor and support the processing of consultants’ expenses/fees against contracts and client invoices against contracts
• Make recommendations to ensure financial outcomes are met with respect to time, quality and cost, and provide early warning of project overspend
• Prepare internal project update reporting including finances and resourcing using required management tools. 

Organisational Support and Business Development

• Provide support in strengthening policies, procedures, and management tools for Development Pathways
• Coordinate with wider project teams to ensure technical capacity is well planned across Development Pathways’ portfolio of projects 
• Signpost colleagues to relevant project management tools and processes, when required
• Support project closure processes as required, capturing and sharing lessons internally
• Provide ad hoc input to evolving organisational requirements as directed by senior members
• Assist with the identification and monitoring of business opportunities in donor markets, as requested
• Update SharePoint and ensure project data sheets are developed and up to date to facilitate bids for tenders
• Collate and share project information to support the Business Development and Communications department.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

The Programme Officer will require the following combination of applied skills, knowledge, and behaviours to successfully contribute to team goals:

Required:

• An undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject 
• Up to 2 years’ experience working on project support or delivery within international development,  research and/or the consultancy sector
• Ability and confidence to work independently and manage their own workflows
• Good communication skills and an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at the individual level and in representation of the organisation
• Excellent drafting skills.
•  Ability to understand and effectively analyse and utilise financial information
• Proven ability to resolve problems, anticipate barriers and create practical solutions
• High IT proficiency (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), SharePoint, etc.)
• Demonstrated attention to detail ensuring quality standards are maintained
• Ability to travel internationally when required.

Advantageous:

• 1-2 years direct project management experience
• Proficiency in additional languages, especially Arabic or French.
