Its a great time to join Shooting Star Children's Hospices as we launched our Specialist Bereavement Service at the end of 2023 and we are now supporting more bereaved families than ever before, alongside our usual caseload of life-limited children and their siblings. Our team of arts therapists is expanding to ensure we can deliver care to those who need it.

We are looking for a Maintenance Team Member interested in being part of a vital team helping to support the day to day running of our properties for vulnerable families accessing our children’s hospice care, who has experience of working within maintenance environment. Ideally (but not essential) the successful candidate will possess some form of maintenance skill/qualification/experience (Painting & Decorating/Carpentry /Plumbing skills etc).

There is an out of hours “On Call” element to this position whereby the successful candidate will be required to go onto the “On Call” rota shared among other members of the maintenance team.

A full UK driving licence is essential as some work will take place at satellite sites.

IAG Delivery and line management

· To be accountable for achieving agreed outcomes, outputs and personal targets – including recruitment, employability training and learner progression targets

· To manage a caseload of participants requiring Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG), confidence building and employability training

This is a new, senior role at the Fair Education Alliance that will shape and lead our regional collaboration model. You will report into, and work closely with Gina Cicerone, Co-CEO.

· Account manage key flower traders both in the UK and Europe

· Manage key relationships in UK flower supply chains, including intermediaries serving retail, brands, and civil society organizations.

About the Role

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, support and coordination of our team of volunteers, working closely with operational managers and the volunteer team to ensure that volunteer activity contributes to PHQ’s charitable objectives and is enjoyable and fulfilling for the volunteer team.  There are currently over 100 volunteers whose work centres around Boathouse 4, our boat collection in the workshop and afloat on our pontoons, and care for Porters Garden, a calm space enjoyed by visitors and staff work in the dockyard.

This role involves operational planning, volunteer engagement, scheduling, and data management, with a strong focus on volunteer recognition, development, and communication.

We will consider applications for part-time employment for 30+ hours per week.

About You

You will be able to demonstrate prior experience of coordinating volunteer activity in the charitable sector, with good knowledge of safety and risk management procedures, and strong communication and organisational skills; underpinned by high level administrative and IT skills. 

Please note, this role is not suited to remote working and therefore the post holder must be available to work at the dockyard during their contracted hours.

Main Duties Social Media

• Manage day-to-day activity across the charity's social media platforms.
• Create engaging, inclusive, and accessible content tailored to a diverse audience.
• Use tools like Sprout Social to schedule posts and monitor engagement.
• Respond to comments and messages in line with safeguarding and brand guidelines.
• Track performance using analytics tools and contribute to content planning.
• Collaborate with teams across the charity to source and share impactful stories.

Media & PR

• Support a busy press office by handling media enquiries and arranging interviews.
• Identify and pitch newsworthy stories to promote the charity's mission.
• Draft social media copy for news stories and monitor media coverage.
• Produce daily updates on media trends and autism-related news.
• Participate in the out-of-hours PR and social media rota (additional pay provided).
• Support the Head of PR and Social Media and Media Manager with ad hoc tasks.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below: -

• Experience of sprout social and Cision
• Proven experience in a social media /media role within a charity.
• Excellent writing skills with a flair for storytelling and audience engagement.
• Confident using social media management and analytics tools.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication.
• Proactive, organised, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
