Homeless Advice and Support Worker

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

Events

• Young Furniture Makers Exhibition - To plan, organise and deliver the annual one-day exhibition showcasing the best new talent to industry. Securing event sponsorship and working with sponsors during the organisation process to ensure positive relationships. Working with over 70 exhibitors, multiple sponsors and external suppliers to ensure a successful event.
• Young Professional Industry Engagement event programme - To plan, organise and deliver the annual three-week programme of CPD visits for a selected group of participants to industry hosts across the UK. Working with participants and over 20 organisations to schedule and deliver the programme.
• Furniture Making T-Level conference – Working with the Chair of the Education and Training Committee and selected members to plan, organise and implement a one-day conference on the practicalities of overing the Furniture T-Level in an educational setting.
• Organise and attend several regional career fairs and trade shows to promote the education and training initiatives and encourage young people to consider a career in furniture and furnishings.
• Plan and organise the content of an Education and Training slot at the annual Furniture Makers’ HR Conference to highlight key events and programmes.
• Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is considered in all aspects of Education and Training events.

Grants

• Administer a small annual grants scheme supporting colleges and universities which provide specialist furniture and furnishing education courses.
• Manage a travel bursary scheme to support exhibitors attending the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition.

Website

• Administer the jobs board featured on the My Furniture Career website, screening and approving posted vacancies as well as liaising with those posting jobs to confirm the status of the vacancy, sharing data once the vacancy expires and collecting feedback data from the poster.
• To work with the Digital Officer to agree a schedule of content for the website and its associated social media.
• Work with the Communications Manager and Digital Officer to promote the use of the website by the targeted audience group as well as the HR community to post vacancies to the jobs board.
• Produce a quarterly report detailing the usage and any highlights regarding the website.
• Report any technical issues to the website provider and liaise with them to fix the issue.

Reporting

• Quarterly reporting on activity and budget to the Education and Training Committee.
• Supporting the Committee Chair by setting up Committee meetings and taking minutes.
• Supporting the Committee Chair with any other administration as necessary related to the Committee. 
• Assist with any ad hoc administration as necessary related to the FIESTA Committee.

Miscellaneous

• Assisting the Education and Training Committee Chair with any administration in regard to the Masters Certificate Scheme.
• Send quarterly feedback surveys mentoring participants and collect the data for reporting purposes.
• Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to promote Education and Training events.
• Keep the Education and Training budget up to date and process all invoices in a timely manner.
• Report back to all event sponsors after any Education and Training sponsored event to keep sponsors updated and aware of the events successes.

Job description

 Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge are working in partnership with Stepney and Wapping Primary Care Network’s Neighbourhood Team to support the Transformation of Mental Health Services across Tower Hamlets.

Tower Hamlets is one of the pilot Boroughs to implement the Community Mental Health Framework which aim is to redesign the offer to support people with serious mental illness (SMI) to not just get back on track with their lives but to be happier and more fulfilled.

The programme is grounded in a population health approach to SMI, delivered through and with Primary Care Networks in Tower Hamlets, with an ambitious vision to support more patients closer to home and reduce the stigma and fragmentation in existing services.

Purpose of the role

 The Community Connector will be responsible for working within the Neighbourhood Team within Stepney and Wapping PCN to ensure that people with SMI are able to live fulfilled lives through offering of one-to-one support to set goals towards their aspirations, needs and to offer hope and choice using a range of skill, knowledge and tools to achieve this. The community connector is seen as valuable asset to our neighbourhoods and act us a local expert, gathering and sharing information about local services.

The post holder will work collaborative and in partnership with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and local Services and Community Groups to create pathways of support for people and to will act as the ‘glue’, linking people in with experts and local assets, and undertaking support work in partnership with external stakeholders to complement their interventions. The post holder will support people to identify the wider issues that impact on their health and wellbeing, such as debt, poor housing, employment circumstances and unemployment, loneliness, isolation and caring responsibilities.

 Case Management

You must have:

· To have attained a minimum Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent

· Demonstrable and substantial experience of providing 1:1 support in mental health within voluntary or statutory settings

On 9th June 2021 Ascension’s foodbank officially became part of the Trussell Trust network. We were named Newham District Foodbank, because our plan is to expand to more than one distribution centre to ensure that people across the whole of Newham are well supported. About this role…

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

You will:

• Complete outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping in the borough 
• Take a lead role within the team, working closely with support workers and assistant support workers to identify the quickest and most appropriate route off the street for people found rough sleeping, and devise plans to achieve this 
• Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation 
• Work alongside partner agencies to ensure that clients are accessing appropriate support to access and sustain accommodation
• Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes 

To succeed as the Lead Worker, you will have:

• A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service 
• Experience working with people who have rough slept or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services

Royal Trinity Hospice is the local hospice for southwest and central London. We provide free specialist palliative and end of life care for people living in Wandsworth and parts of Lambeth, Merton, Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Richmond.

The organisation has recently embarked on a new five-year strategy and this exciting role will play a pivotal part in the overall delivery of the technology aspects. The successful appointee of this role will sit within a small but busy IT team and will be responsible for first class support of Royal Trinity Hospice’s customers and systems.

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Senior IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support services to the staff, volunteers and service users at the hospice, and will support the IT Operations Manager in their day-to-day activities, ensuring the IT service is delivered to the agreed standards, as well as providing mentorship and team-leadership to the IT Support Technicians within the team.

Skills and experience required

• Excellent interpersonal skills, as the role necessitates advanced relationship building and communication skills to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in a similar role in an IT team following ITIL processes/practices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows 10 OS.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AzureAD and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server OS, Exchange and Active Directory.
• A sound understanding of network and server infrastructure.
• Knowledge of IT security software solutions.
• Knowledge of various end user computing hardware e.g. Laptops, PC’s, Phones etc.
• Experience of Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp is desirable but not essential.
• Able to work to SLA’s and KPI’s.
• A strong ability to fault find customer issues remotely, in person or over the phone, ensuring that outcomes are documented within support tickets.

Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation.

dasl have provided an advocacy service for Lambeth Council for 12 years and since 2020 we have played a key role in the Lambeth Advocacy Hub, a single point of access for all statutory independent advocacy services for Lambeth residents aged 16 and over. We manage referrals and enquiries and provide independent Care Act advocacy and a range of non-statutory advocacy.

We provide a high quality service - we hold the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark. You will hold, or be working towards, a qualification such as the Certificate/Diploma in Independent Advocacy (Level 3), or be able to show the necessary skills and relevant experience in a formal or informal advocacy role.

About Us

Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer specialist support and services for survivors and their family. We offer therapies, advocacy, family support and community support work alongside our day service: a community venue where people can make the most of their abilities and interests.

We also promote awareness and understanding of brain injury by providing information to the public, and offering training to university students, professionals and businesses.

About the Role

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.

You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Activities in the art studio:

•  Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
• Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
•  Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.

Key working:

• Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.

Day Service co-ordination:

• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
• Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
• Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.
