Welcome event shall be held in person to say hello to the members while SJA is explained to them. Once this has been done and an Interview has taken Place the training will be provided by the Network.

Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. This role will require an in-person interview, which will take place provisionally in Birmingham City Centre. Interview dates/times will be emailed to you should your application be successful. Please ensure that you are able to attend an in person interview in Birmingham before submitting your application.

Volunteers would be expected to commit 100 hours of volunteering a year in a clinical capacity. They will also be expected to keep in regular contact with their line manager and keep up to date with their training.

Once your screening for role has been completed, you will be invited to attend your local St John Ambulance Network for a Welcome and Induction.

Training for this role consists of online learning modules and a 6 day in-person course, normally spread across three weekends. Your local Network will support you through the training process.

Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

We are looking for a lively dynamic individual to promote the activities of Sussex Area Ramblers by regular communications with members and engaging with local media including producing press releases and responding to enquiries. 

The main purposes of the role are (1) to maintain regular communications with Sussex Area Ramblers’ members by producing articles for the Area Website and sending email communications to keep members up to date with Area activities, including developing a social media strategy and (2) to communicate (together where necessary with Ramblers' Central Office) with media in the Area, including by way of proactive press releases, and deal with media enquiries, to ensure that the activities and charitable role of the Sussex Area Ramblers are given a high profile

We are seeking enthusiastic, innovative volunteer teachers who are passionate about education, youth development and equity to join our 25-26 cohort. Food and housing expenses are covered. We currently serve hundreds of students across our partner school, Santa Monica Bilingual School, in northern Honduras. You will be joining a network of hundreds of alumni who have supported this important work for nearly 20 years. Our signature teaching program includes  ear-long teacher training and year-long professional development opportunities that highlights the important current and historical context in which we are teaching and learning from our students and the communities in which we live. At a high level, each volunteer teacher is responsible for: leading an English curriculum for students in grades PreK-9 in ELA, Science, Math, Art, PE and Computers (all classes are capped at 25 students, and most teachers take on one full curriculum for a grade level) supporting fellow teachers in the classroom, getting to know your students and their families, and immersing oneself in Honduran culture. Don’t worry - we’ll be there to support you with every step along the way! 

REQUIRED DUTIES:

• Facilitate relationships with students’ parents and other community members 

• Plan lessons and teach in English (all subjects with the exception of Social Studies and Spanish)

• Foster a safe and productive classroom environment for students 

• Serve as a Lunch/Recess monitor

• Collaborate with the teaching team (Honduran and International) on school projects, events, planning, and curriculum development

• Contribute to the collaborative and respectful group living experience

• Serve as an ambassador for BECA by helping to spread the word about our work to your families and friends 

• Participate in professional development events, such as local education-based conferences, and BECA-lead efforts

What will you be doing?

Depending on your skills and availability, you may support with:

You will be supported to work within WSUP’s trauma-informed and psychologically informed (TIC/PIE) approach. Lived experience is welcome but not essential.

Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation. 

We are looking for Group Volunteers to join our existing team of fantastic volunteers and help with running our supportive social groups which provide a monthly opportunity to meet in Oxford or Abingdon.

These groups offer a welcoming, safe and supportive environment in which Archway Friends can meet with and gain confidence in relating to others, develop new friendships and ultimately engage with people and activities in their local community. Volunteers attend one group a month (or more if they would like!) and meet and greet Friends (what we call people who come to our groups and use our services) as well as helping to facilitate the group with activities, moving around the group, helping with refreshments and actively listening to the people who attend.

We ask volunteers to think of this as a longer term volunteer role due to the training and time we take in order to give our volunteers, and Friends, the very best service. You will also need to consider occasional time spent in training for your role and for continuous development. 

For all our roles:

Due to our Safeguarding regulations, unfortunately we are only able to accept applications from UK residents. 

Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks)  which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.

For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.

We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs or bus fare).

Monitoring, evaluation and learning coordinators wanted to help East London Waterworks Park deliver its environmental learning goals. 

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for a volunteer to track the impact of our educational initiatives, gather data, and support continuous improvement in our learning programs. This role ensures that our learning activities are effective and contribute meaningfully to ELWP’s overarching goals.

This role would include:

• Developing measures of success of existing environmental education initiatives
• Collecting and analyzing feedback from programme participants
• Recommending improvements based on data insights

The Learning Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening at 8pm for an hour on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

We're looking for people to lead on these projects and facilitate the direction of the learning working group.

Individuals with experience in research, programme evaluation, data analysis, or education assessment are encouraged to apply. Attention to detail and an interest in measuring impact will be key strengths in this role. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park. 

You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. By volunteering in this role, you will help shape the future of East London Waterworks Park as a community-led environmental learning space.
