About the role

This role will help Ageing Better deliver its ambition for more people to live in Age-friendly Homes and Communities—enabling people to live well, age well, and remain independent for as long as possible.

Reporting to the Head of Homes, as Research and Policy Manager (Homes and Communities), you will design and deliver research and policy projects from end to end by setting priorities, applying robust methodologies, managing partnerships and ensuring outputs are accessible, impactful and evidence-based. Working closely with colleagues across the Homes and Communities Team to ensure projects help to influence national and local policy and support our wider goals.

As one of two research and policy managers, you will be taking a lead delivery role on our research projects and be responsible for designing and conducting original research using both quantitative and qualitative methods, generating new insights that inform our policy positions and contribute to meaningful change.

You will also model our commitment to tackling inequalities and ensuring that the voice of a diverse mix of people in later life is visible and influential within all our activities. 

About you

We are looking for someone with strong experience in delivering research projects, including defining research questions, selecting appropriate methodologies and producing clear, high-quality outputs while managing budgets and risks. You will be confident using qualitative and quantitative research methods, including evaluation approaches and have experience turning detailed findings into practical and actionable insights. Experience in basic data analysis is essential.

You will be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders effectively and bring strong project management skills. You will also be a clear and effective communicator. This includes being able to produce engaging outputs such as reports, blogs and case studies, alongside being confident designing and facilitating workshops. We are looking for someone who builds positive working relationships, works collaboratively and can contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

Experience of the housing and communities’ sector is desirable, as is an interest in issues affecting ageing and older people.

We are seeking a Grants Manager to join the Research Talent, Policy and Programmes Team and take oversight for the delivery of a sub-set of the Academy’s UK and international grants portfolio to support our strategy, and – notably - our strategic priority to support the next generation of researchers to reach their full potential.

Working in a small team gives you the opportunity to develop line management skills, set and manage your budgets and be directly involved in securing funding for our schemes. You will keep abreast of developments in UK medical research funding policies and the wider career policy context to ensure that the Academy's grants schemes remain innovative, attractive and fit for purpose.

What you will be doing

Scheme Delivery

• Managing a subset of our portfolio of UK and/or international grant schemes, maintaining and developing robust operational processes in accordance with the high standards of the Academy.
• Drafting funding proposals, in liaison with the Head of Grant Schemes, for existing and potential new schemes.
• Developing and implementing new grants schemes and all associated processes and documentation, as required.
• Producing high-quality reports, briefing and updates for both an internal and external audience. This includes the preparation of papers for Council, Officers and other Academy meetings, as required.
• Being mindful of national and international developments in grant-making and exploring how the Academy’s schemes align with other emerging initiatives.
• Working with senior management to ensure the Academy implements best practice.
• Supporting with the monitoring of grant progress.

Line Management

• Line managing the Senior Grants Officer and overseeing their development.
• Supporting the Senior Grants Officer to administer their portfolio of grants, to include dealing with enquiries; the promotion of schemes; eligibility checking of applications; the organisation of peer review; the preparation of committee papers; attendance at panel meetings; providing reports and financial information; the awarding of the grants and their continued management; and providing feedback to both successful and unsuccessful applicants.
• Project managing and supporting other Senior Grants Officers.

Budgeting

• Developing and managing the budgets for a portfolio of grant schemes and/or activities, in line with internal management systems, to include the regular forecasting and monitoring of expenditure.
• Working closely with the Finance Department.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development

• Establishing contacts and liaising with a range of stakeholders, including Higher Education Institutions, funding agencies, delivery partners, other professional bodies and early research leaders, in order to ensure the Academy offer is reflective of the current landscape and that we are responsive to continued developments.
• Liaising with the Academy’s Communications and Policy teams to ensure the grant schemes relate to the Academy’s wider strategy and to raise the profile of our schemes.
• Working across the organisation, with individuals from different departments and at varying levels of seniority.

Other Responsibilities

• Developing and overseeing meetings and celebrations for award holders, including regular inductions, training workshops and scientific meetings.
• Undertaking any other ad-hoc duties that can be reasonably expected of this post.

Overview
We are a small, global charity with an ambitious mission and growing international reach. As our portfolio expands, we are strengthening our infrastructure, including implementing a robust Grants Management System to support efficient and scalable funding processes. We are seeking an energetic and proactive Grants & Programmes Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of grant-funded programmes and research funding schemes. Purpose of the Job 
The Impact and Evaluation Manager plays a key role in ensuring (FELIX) can robustly measure, evaluate and communicate the social and environmental impact of its work. The role supports an evidence-based culture across the organisation, embedding evaluation and learning into service development and delivery.

Working with colleagues across (FELIX) and its network, you will lead qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation projects, generating insights that inform service improvement, fundraising and public affairs. You will ensure that impact evidence is translated into clear, engaging outputs for internal and external audiences, helping to build compelling narratives about the difference FareShare makes. Ultimately, this work supports FareShare’s mission to deliver more food to charities and community groups across the UK.
 

Duties & Responsibilities 

• Lead the development and ongoing refinement of FareShare’s Theory of Change and Impact & Evaluation frameworks, ensuring they remain relevant and are embedded in impact measurement and evaluation activity

• Design and deliver impact measurement tools and evaluation projects that generate robust evidence on [Felix’s] social and environmental impact, including surveys, research studies and external evaluations.

• Analyse and interpret impact data and research findings, producing clear, accessible reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders, including producing the Annual Impact Report and Internal Stats House.

• Work collaboratively across FareShare teams and with Regional Partners to implement impact measurement approaches, support evidence-informed decision making, and strengthen the organisation’s approach to measuring and communicating impact.

• Manage research activity and partnerships, including coordinating external evaluations, engaging academic partners, supporting evidence for policy and public affairs work, and line managing the Impact and Insights Officer.

We are very excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant by The National Lottery Community Fund to help us support our most valued micro and small voluntary and community groups in Oxfordshire.

As the Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving forward this partnership initiative, working collaboratively with our delivery partners, with local stakeholders, community and voluntary sector groups, and our funder The National Lottery Community Fund to ensure that impact measurement and activity reporting is kept on track. You will work with two new SaM Community Development Workers, and with our partner organisation staff to develop a new outreach programme of infrastructure support shaped with and for the micro and small organisations across the county. You will develop a tailored action plan of outputs and outcomes with our Partnership Advisory Group and dovetail this with a pathway to gather data, stories and feedback on learning, impact and change. This monitoring and evaluation will be reported back to the Advisory Group and the National Lottery on a regular basis.

As the SaM Programme Manager you will manage a county‑wide partnership, contributing not only to delivery but also to shared learning, reflection and continuous improvement. You will balance representing your host organisation with acting in the best interests of the partnership and the communities it serves.

The Research and Evaluation Manager will work to position King’s College London as a sector leader on conducting institutional evaluation and research to understand how we can support students from underrepresented groups to access university and succeed at university. · Experience establishing causal inference in research when evaluating projects or interventions with experimental methods (e.g. quasi-experimental methods, randomised controlled trials). 

· Experience in designing and running multiple social research and evaluation projects, managing competing demands and timescales and delivering to milestones. 

· Confident in conducting data analysis including handling large data sets and statistical testing using relevant software (such as Power BI, R, Stata, or SPSS) and presenting findings in various formats. 

· Confident and clear written and verbal communication, including report-writing, data visualisation and presentation skills. 

· Ability to give a team clear direction and guide it to the successful completion of a task. 

· Ability to identify and manage the objectives, performance, and development needs of others. 

Desirable criteria

· Postgraduate degree or qualification in research methods, statistics, analytics or a related field and/or relevant experience. 

· Experience using behavioural insights in a research or policy context to positively influence behaviour 

· Understanding of the widening participation agenda and/or the role of higher education in social mobility

At The Brilliant Club, we mobilise the PhD community to support students from less advantaged backgrounds to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there. We work with students who, because of their family income, parental history or the postcode they live in, are at risk of missing out on the life-changing opportunities linked to higher education.

We are delighted to be hiring a Senior Research and Evaluation Officer to join The Brilliant Club. This pivotal role will support the charity’s research and evaluation consultancy work through Brilliant Consulting. Through our consultancy work, we have partnered with a range of universities and education organisations, such as the Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO) and The Sutton Trust. The Senior Research and Evaluation Officer will contribute to improving the evidence base for what works to drive fairer education outcomes and social mobility. They will do this by supporting mission-aligned organisations to conduct robust evaluations of outreach and education programmes.

The Senior Research and Evaluation Officer will join a small consultancy team and will be managed by the charity’s Director of Research and Impact. The team is also supported by several colleagues from across the organisation who work on specific projects based on their areas of expertise. The consultancy team is part of the charity’s wider research and impact team, who collectively have two areas of responsibility: evaluating and reporting the impact of the charity’s programmes and providing research and evaluation consultancy and strategy support to education organisations.

The successful candidate will have strong research skills, including in quantitative research, and will be able to communicate technical information and findings to university access and success practitioners and educators. They will also demonstrate professional skills in relation to stakeholder management and project management and will champion the charity’s values and embody them in interactions with colleagues and partners. While this role can be based at any of our offices throughout the UK, some travel will be required (mainly to London) to attend in-person meetings.

About you
The role will best suit someone who

• Has a degree in a subject involving applied research (e.g., economics, education, policy, psychology, sociology, statistics).
• Has quantitative research skills, ideally with experience of constructing comparison groups and running statistical models to understand impact.
• Has experience of mixed methods approaches, including qualitative research methods (e.g., focus groups and interviews).
• Aas knowledge of the UK education landscape, including higher education.
• An organised and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Global Black Thrive evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth Partnership, which was established in 2016 to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people in Lambeth. Black people’s cumulative exposure to negative experiences and poor outcomes are not unique to Lambeth and Black Thrive Global was founded in 2020 to address the detrimental outcomes for Black people of African and Caribbean descent wherever they may be located.

Our work covers all life stages – children and young people, working age adults and older adults. Our guiding principle is to centre the lived experiences of Black communities in all that we do, and our strategic priorities are to embed race equity in systems change and to decolonise the evidence landscape.

Role Description

Following a recent round of successful funding, Black Thrive are looking for a highly skilled and community-focused Research & Evaluation Lead to strengthen the evidence and learning functions across the Thriving Futures – Scaling Systems Change programme. This role is central to building a robust understanding of community needs, mental health outcomes, and the impact of systems change activities on Black communities across our localities.

This position requires a researcher with experience in mixed-methods research and who is confident in working both strategically and on the ground in community settings. You will be responsible for developing and implementing evaluation frameworks, gathering high-quality data, and supporting Black Thrive Global and the localities in their own monitoring, learning, and evaluation capacity. Strong relationship-building skills are essential, as much of this role involves working closely with black led organisations, local leaders, and partners across health, voluntary, and statutory sectors.

You will work closely with the Head of Research and Evaluation and the wider Thriving Futures team to design, deliver, and communicate research and evaluation projects that drive learning and improvement. Your work will combine community-based data collection, analysis, inclusive and culturally grounded evaluation methods, and clear reporting that helps us tell the story of our progress and impact.

Black Thrive uses Asana, Microsoft Excel, and a range of qualitative and quantitative tools to track learning, evidence systemic change outcomes, and ensure the programme remains responsive to the needs and priorities of Black communities.

Key responsibilities

Community-Embedded Research & Evaluation

• Lead on-the-ground community-based research activities, including regular engagement with localities, community organisations, grassroots partners, and residents to understand lived experiences, mental health outcomes, and community-identified priorities.
• Conduct mixed-methods community needs assessments to capture changing local conditions, emerging challenges, and gaps in support provision across priority localities.
• Build trusted relationships with community partners to co-design evaluation activities, ensuring methods are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and accessible to organisations operating in diverse community settings.
• Facilitate participatory research approaches (e.g., community researcher models, participatory action research, peer-led data collection) to ensure the voices of Black communities are embedded in all evaluation work.

Supporting Community Organisations & Localities

• Provide tailored research and evaluation support to Black Thrive localities who delivering the Scaling System Change programme, including helping them develop data collection tools, outcome measures, and monitoring processes that align with Black Thrive’s frameworks.
• Deliver capacity-building workshops, coaching, and 1:1 support for localities to strengthen their ability to collect, interpret, and use data for programme improvement.
• Support localities in implementing mixed-methods approaches, including the design of short surveys, interview guides, focus groups, observational tools, and community feedback mechanisms.
• Work collaboratively with local organisations to interpret findings and co-generate learning that strengthens community-led decision-making and informs systemic change.

Scaling Systems Change Programme Evaluation

• Lead the development of Scaling Systems Change and support in shaping the programmatic evaluation for the Scaling Systems Change programme, including identifying community-relevant indicators, data sources, and measurement approaches that reflect both outcomes and structural shifts.
• Develop and refine theories of change and logic models in collaboration with programme teams and community stakeholders.
• Oversee the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data related to the Scaling Systems Change programme, synthesising insights into evaluative conclusions and strategic recommendations.
• Track progress on system-level outcomes and community-driven indicators, ensuring alignment with Black Thrive Global’s race equity mission and systems change goals.

Data Collection, Analysis & Insight Generation

• Conduct qualitative data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, reflective sessions, community conversations) and apply rigorous, culturally informed qualitative analysis techniques.
• Integrate primary and secondary datasets—community-level statistics, organisational monitoring data, local authority data, and service delivery datasets—into comprehensive evaluations.
• Ensure high-quality documentation and coding of qualitative datasets using recognised analytical frameworks.

Reporting, Learning & Dissemination

• Produce high-quality annual research and evaluation reports, local evaluation and research summaries, dashboards, and accessible materials for community partners and stakeholders.
• Translate complex data and findings into clear, actionable insights tailored to policymakers, community organisations, funders, and residents.
• Facilitate feedback loops and learning events with partners to discuss findings, share learning, and identify opportunities for adaptation and improvement.
• Contribute to internal strategic learning by presenting insights to senior leaders, programme teams, and key partners.

Ethics, Governance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure ethical, safe, and culturally competent research practice, especially when working with communities disproportionately affected by systemic racism and mental health inequalities.

Key Responsibilities:

Account manage the trust and foundations fundraising function

Our client, The Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO) is an affiliate What Works Centre, and part of the UK Government’s What Works Movement. ​TASO was set up in 2019 and became an independent charity in April 2021. Their work focuses on the generation, synthesis and dissemination of high-quality evidence about effective practice in widening participation and student outcomes. ​Role:

​The Chief Research Officer will ensure the smooth and successful delivery of TASO’s Research & Evaluation programme, with overall responsibility for TASO’s Research and Evaluation budget. This will involve managing the staff involved in these functions to deliver TASO’s research, evaluation, synthesis and evidence mobilisation activities to time and within budget.
 
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the postholder will help shape TASO’s overall strategic direction and translate this into a clear programme of research and evaluation activity.
