Job description
  • The day-to-day operation of the Midsomer Norton Day Club
  • Ensure the members experience a day of social, mental and physical stimulation appropriate to their needs and wishes
  • Identifying loneliness amongst members and with the support of other Age UK B&NES staff try to alleviate the situation by identifying additional activities

Key Tasks:

1. Running of Day Club

  • Ensure a variety of activities, gentle exercise and talks for members are organised
  • Take referrals and undertake home visits to assess potential members
  • Responsible for health and safety in the Day Club and compliance by all staff and volunteers;
  • Liaison with family, carers and statutory services as appropriate
  • Responsible for banking and administration
  • Liaise with the drivers and Transport Co-ordinator to ensure sufficient & appropriate transport is available for members

2. Staff & Volunteer Supervision

  • Undertake line management responsibilities for staff and volunteer supervision and appraisals
  • In particular, ensuring compliance with the organisation’s lone working, equal opportunities, health & safety and safeguarding vulnerable adults policies and procedures.

3. Working with other Age UK Staff

  • Liaise with other Age UK B&NES staff to develop awareness of all services and activities that could be available to day centre members
  • It is encouraged to ask for support from other Age UK B&NES staff eg when supporting a member to continue living at home, change in circumstances, enabling an activity for a member etc.

4. Monitoring

  • Maintain client records
  • Provide the Chief Executive or other staff with the necessary statistics and progress information for monitoring, etc. reports, by the required deadlines.
