Dravet Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a small independent UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. As well as experiencing severe, difficult-to-control seizures, children and adults with Dravet Syndrome have varying degrees of intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism, ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating and sleep.
The charity was founded in October 2008 by a small group of 30 families. Today, DSUK is a registered charity helping over 550 families with support, education, and research programmes, underpinned by a world-class Medical Advisory Board.
We are currently seeking a fixed term maternity cover for the role of Marketing and Communications Manager. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this role has responsibility for creating, managing and implementing high quality communications with a focus on family and fundraiser audiences, aligned to our mission and overall strategy and Marketing and Communications plan.
As part of DSUK’s commitment to safeguarding, the postholder is expected to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
What you will bring
Essential
· Demonstrable experience in implementing digital communications activities, including experience across a range of social media platforms, working on websites (using WordPress) and using e-marketing (e.g. Mailchimp or similar), understanding Seach Engine Optimisation and other aspects of optimising digital comms
· Demonstrable experience in media relations, including writing press releases, working with case studies and successfully pitching and responding to a range of media (online, press, radio, broadcast)
· Demonstrable experience of working in charity, patient advocacy or healthcare sectors
· Ability to deal with people at all levels with empathy, tact and credibility
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to distil large amounts of information and present it in engaging and innovative ways for a variety of audiences
· Demonstrable design skills and knowledge of desktop publishing software e.g. using Canva to create in-house designs for social media, web and in-house materials (leaflets, guides, etc)
· Good understanding of brand, visual identity and corporate communication
· Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise
· Be a self-starter and team player with experience of remote working, and able to work effectively with colleagues using remote technology (e.g. Zoom, Google meets, etc)
Desirable
· Membership of a professional body such as Chartered Institute of Public Relations and/or a commitment to continuous professional development

We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for an Early Intervention Project Worker to join Shine.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.
Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place.
We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms. You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally.
Purpose of the role

To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. To provide advice, support and guidance to enable people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to access the correct benefits to become financially stable, the right services to improve their health and well-being, and to better co-ordinate their support and independence through a variety of methods.

To improve the life wellbeing of children 0-12 years old with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus by promoting independence and providing them and their families with early intervention support.

To create a community whereby those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus can connect with others, are empowered through knowledge and feel confident in the support networks surrounding them.

3. Relationship Building and Networking
- Cultivate relationships with international funding agencies, philanthropic organisations, corporate partners, and other potential global donors to expand CCI's network and funding base.

With the ED, identify and create new relationships with high net-worth individuals to expand CCI's funding base.

Utilize networks, platforms and other avenues to enhance the CCI brand and increase our network and relationships towards attracting potential donors.

Assist the ED in developing an effective fundraising strategy aligned with CCI's strategic plan.

If and when required, attend conferences, workshops, and fundraising events to build connections, to identify and develop funding opportunities.

With ED, maintain regular communication with existing donors, keeping them informed about CCI's progress and impact.
4. Grant Management and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, including tracking deliverables, reporting deadlines, and financial requirements.

Work closely with ED and CCI members to provide accurate and timely progress reports to donors.

With the ED, maintain records of grants, funding applications, and donor interactions.
5. Marketing
- With the ED, evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communication techniques and assist in make necessary adjustments.

Reach a greater number of supporters and donors through innovative marketing strategies; including, with the ED, the creation of new and innovative fundraising campaigns, or the linking of current events and campaigns to fundraising outcomes.

Collaborate with the ED and the Communications Manager on the development of communications and marketing materials.
6. General Fundraising Responsibilities
- Stay up to date with current trends, strategies, and best practices in international fundraising and grant writing.

Participate in professional development opportunities, training sessions, and workshops to enhance fundraising skills and knowledge, as well as knowledge and understanding of the childhood cancer sector.

Any other fundraising activity as requested by the ED.
Qualifications:

A tertiary qualification, degree (or higher qualification) in a relevant field (for example in international development, marketing or communications).

A minimum of proven four years’ experience in international fundraising, grant writing, and securing funding from diverse sources.

Familiarity with international grant databases, donor directories, and funding portals. You should have an existing network of funders and donors.

Research and analytical skills.

Strong writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive and compelling grant proposals.

Experience in developing budgets for grant applications.

Community Fundraisers are remote/hybrid based, with some presence expected at your local office or Hospice. The Digital Transformation Manager will work with teams across the organisation to consider how in every aspect of THET’s work we can transform our use of technology to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness, improve inclusivity and equity, and whilst reducing our carbon footprint.

- Lead the review and delivery of THET’s digital transformation strategy.

As our Senior Marketing Manager, working on Brand, you will build and lead bold and pioneering brand campaigns, such as The Ultimate Vow and The Long Goodbye, to grow our brand and cause amongst the general public. This role reports into the Head of Brand and Marketing, and has two line reports, working closely and collaboratively with fantastic colleagues in Creative, Supporter Experience, Fundraising and across the charity.
You and your team will be responsible for end-to-end brand activity – from briefing of campaigns to media planning, creative development and delivery, testing, internal integration, measurements, and evaluation. As well as opportunistic ways to grow our brand and cut-through the noise with bold and clever tactical activations.
Our brand is growing from strength to strength, with our campaigns achieving fantastic results that are growing spontaneous awareness, brand buzz and driving impact across the charity. This role can supercharge that work as we implement the next phase of our brand strategy. This is a homeworking role, but you may be required to travel to attend meetings, events and team-days. You must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of a 3-year train the trainer pilot programme in the chosen pilot locations in England or Scotland.
The pilot will train and equip local health care professionals, health promotion workers and local community workers with the knowledge and resources to promote breast awareness, breast screening and risk reduction messages in their own communities.
Supported by a public health development officer, train the trainer (1 based in England and 1 based in Scotland), who you’ll also line manage, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of the in-person programme, including marketing materials, resource packs and ongoing support for trainees. You’ll also identify opportunities, agree timescales and associated logistics for training delivery within the pilot areas.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is experienced in leading on the development and delivery of insightful and engaging workshops or public health focused projects, to a range of audiences from health or community-based organisations. The right candidate will have a good understanding of health inequalities, the challenges they present to health behaviours and outcomes, and be passionate about addressing these challenges. You’ll have strong communication and engagement skills and enjoy working independently and innovatively to develop successful partnerships with a range of organisations, communities and stakeholders.

A passion and understanding of the charity sector and in particular, the Islamic landscape will be an advantage. Health Professional Engagement Officer Role
We are looking for an experienced project officer who is a self-starter and thrives on challenges. You will work closely with the small PRDA admin team, a number of the trustees and a wide range of external stakeholders. You will have a passion for improving the lives of people affected by cancer, and will be keen to learn about the personal impact of PRD and how it can be treated. You will have energy, enthusiasm and creativity to go the extra mile to make your mark in this brand new role. You will have a proven track record of accurate administration, managing successful projects and working with health professionals, and be good at organising events and problem-solving. Previous experience of working in a health charity would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and support a Community of Practice for professionals and researchers who work on PRD, including organising face-to-face and online events.
- Support the work to develop and promote resources that enable better diagnosis, treatment and care of people with PRD (key resource is the PRD Best Practice Pathway).
- Support trustees to connect with professional organisations.
- Gather and disseminate information about services for people with PRD.
