About the RSS and this role
The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is one of the world’s leading organisations advocating for the importance of statistics and data, which have never been more vital. We’re looking for an exceptional, experienced business development professional who can help us increase our impact.
The main purpose of this role is to create and manage a pipeline of customers, from initial research, through to strong leads, and ultimately sales. Working closely with teams within the Society to research, follow up and develop strong leads, you will participate in events and marketing activities as needed, and develop and maintain a working database of contacts within our CRM system, to enable effective logging and tracking of potential customers.
The Society offers a diverse range of products from training, sponsorship and professional accreditation and you will be expected to understand these business models and work with teams to maximise their revenue generating potential.
As this is a new role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build the role around you, with flexibility to play to your strengths and manage your own projects independently. The work will be varied, and you’ll work with a variety of partner types, so this role is perfect if you’re looking to put your business development skills to the test.
You will be required to act as an ambassador of the charity in everything you do; we are looking for someone who is going to embody the charities ethos and who will keep the charity at the heart of all the decisions that are made.
We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who really want to work for a charity or not for profit organisation. While not essential, some familiarity with developments within data science, statistics, machine learning, AI and related subject areas would be an advantage.
Our Head of Business Development will:
- Work with wider RSS staff to develop our understanding of the preferences and needs of key internal and external markets to ensure our services align with those preferences and needs.
- Monitor emerging trends in statistics/data science/AI and keep track of competitors to ensure RSS services remain relevant and current.
- Understand key policy and strategy objectives of the RSS and develop, plan and where appropriate implement sales strategies to support those objectives, working closely with other colleagues as required.
- Understand the range of products delivered by the Society and create business development strategies and plans to maximise their commercial value.
- Work with the Director and other colleagues as required to help to shape the Society’s marketing strategy.
- Support development of the commercial aspects of strategies and plans across the organisation. Create and manage a pipeline of customers, from initial research, through to strong leads, and ultimately sales.
- Work with teams to identify new potential revenue streams, sponsorship opportunities and customer types to contact.
- Look for and exploit opportunities to expand our current products to increase revenues.
- Understand key policy and strategy objectives of the RSS and develop, plan and where appropriate implement sales strategies to support those objectives, working closely with other colleagues as required.
- Explore and develop opportunities to extend the reach of the RSS brand and sub-brands to grow partners and sponsors.

The Philanthropy Officer will create and manage their own portfolio of existing and potential philanthropy donors and use relationship building skills to create strong links with both new and existing donors, including delivering high quality stewardship and reporting on Full Fact’s successes. The post-holder will create and update detailed and persuasive cases for support for new and existing Full Fact projects and deliver successful events that align with Full Fact’s mission and increase engagement. What the job involves
We're looking for a Workplace Health and Safety Manager to join our vibrant charity. This is a diverse and interesting role. You’ll play a key role in the safe and smooth running of our office, compliance, health and safety as well as facilities administration. As a ‘go to’ Workplace manager at the charity you’ll spend a few days a week working out of our London Office. To be successful in this role, you’ll have extensive experience in workplace and health and safety roles or office facilities, supported by a recognised qualification. You’ll also proven experience in developing and implementing effective processes to embed a safe workplace culture.
You’ll be able to work unsupervised and be a creative thinker using your own initiative. This role requires proactivity, problem solving and prioritisation skills.
You’ll interact with lots of different people (internal and external stakeholders) on a daily basis and be an excellent communicator. As a Fundraiser, you will play a crucial role in generating financial support for CAN’s mission and programs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating relationships with donors and philanthropic organisations, and managing fundraising campaigns.

Due to parental leave in the team, we are looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager from July 2024 to January 2025. This a pivotal role in the LLHM team delivering communications to thousands of runners whilst also managing our Community Engagement Programme.
Working closely with the LLHM team you will be responsible for planning and delivering our email communications, social media and managing the LLHM website.

The role
As Community Fundraiser you will manage and develop myaware’s community events and support in aid of fundraisers. You will create and manage corporate and community partnerships, alongside community volunteers, to achieve maximum fundraising income for myaware, working to agreed budget and plans, and assisting with budget and strategy creation when required. The Community Fundraiser will be home based within the UK and will work in co-operation with all myaware colleagues to deliver agreed fundraising and awareness campaigns. Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia.
We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition.

The Role

The Person

Previous experience in fundraising is desirable however, we are also keen to speak with people who have transferable skills including meeting financial targets, working proactively, independently and flexibly. Delivering the philanthropy plan
- Manage the philanthropy programme at Bookmark, working with the Head of Fundraising to grow the major donor portfolio within the wider strategy
- Lead a team of three to deliver on the fundraising strategy, providing direction, support and guidance. Line manage the Philanthropy Manager and support their professional development
- Work with trustees, staff, and our wonderfully supportive Partnerships Board to build a robust pipeline of supporters and secure introductions
- Own and build a portfolio of new major donors through the full donor cycle who give £25,000 or more, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey
- Lead on the philanthropy events strategy and programme, providing support to the Philanthropy Manager and wider team in delivering income generating, cultivation and stewardship events
- Create compelling, relevant and tailored funding proposals, reports and collateral to inspire and inform donors, reflecting Bookmark’s strong brand
- Work closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to ensure opportunities to maximise income for the fundraising team

- Devise and deliver annual plans, together with associated budgets, in line with the charity’s strategic objectives.

Person specification
Essential
- A successful track record in high value fundraising and acquisition, including a proven track record of securing five or six-figure gifts, to meet or exceed targets
- Experience line managing individuals, nurturing their development and managing their performance to achieve results
- Excellent understanding of complex relationship-based fundraising from high-net worth individuals and/or grant making organisations
- Experience developing and managing a calendar of successful charity events that meet fundraising targets
- Great verbal communication skills, a passion for presenting and public speaking
- Experience managing or working with a fundraising board or high value committee
- You will have the skills to influence, motivate and persuade people to donate
