As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
• Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

About The Role

We’re WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to our world's problems. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish. We lead the way, bring life and inspire connection. 

Volunteers are integral to the running of our Welney centre and without their help we wouldn’t be able to welcome our visitors to this amazing wetland. Your role will be helping to bring people of all ages and backgrounds closer to wetland wildlife, by providing assistance to visitors and encouraging them to explore the site and learn about WWT’s pioneering wetland conservation work, to save wetlands for wildlife and people. You’ll support the delivery of excellent customer service for the retail and membership team, inspiring people to support us as members of the WWT, and be a warm and welcoming face for our cause.

We are looking for volunteers who can ideally give one day a week, exact hours to be agreed. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

Time commitment? We are looking for volunteers who can ideally commit to one day across the week. Shifts are negotiable, with suitable breaks. After completing training and an induction for this role, we ask volunteers to spend a minimum of 6 months volunteering with WWT Welney. 

You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and other information you need. This will include risk assessments based on your role and any particular support you need. Volunteers receive access to our sites, and discounts in our shops and cafes. Some roles include a uniform or require the use of equipment or protective clothing. If you are based at a particular site or office location, you’ll need to be able to get yourself there and back. Information on locations can be found on our website. We will keep you up to date with what’s happening across WWT and the difference you will be helping to make happen.

Overview

This is a Senior Leadership team role.

The Base Camp Manager has responsibility for many of the logistical aspects of the expedition,
including equipment, food, and managing the environmental impact at base camp. You will need to be ready to turn your hand to a range of tasks, acting as the ‘fixer’ for the expedition and supporting the expedition team with all aspects of expedition life.

We are looking for applicants who are:

• Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
• Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events. 

As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

Volunteer Opportunity: Fundraising & Grants Volunteer

Urban Youth is a new youth work charity being established to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive and reach their full potential in London. We're currently in the crucial setup phase, and securing initial funding is paramount to getting us off the ground.

We're looking for a dedicated Volunteer for Fundraising & Grants to help us kickstart our financial journey. This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, directly contributing to our ability to reach and support young Londoners.

What will you do?

In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in securing the seed funding we need to get started.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Grant Research & Application: Researching and identifying suitable grant opportunities from trusts, foundations, and corporate social responsibility programs. You'll then assist with or lead on drafting compelling grant applications to secure vital seed funding.

• Fundraising Event Planning: Taking the lead on planning and organizing a range of initial fundraising events and activities. This could involve small community events, online campaigns, or creative initiatives to raise awareness and funds.

• Donor Cultivation Support: Helping to identify potential individual donors or corporate partners and assisting with initial outreach strategies.

• Excellent Communicator: Able to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively (essential for grant applications) and comfortable with outreach.

• Organised: Capable of managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and event logistics effectively.

• Creative: Able to think of engaging and effective ways to raise funds and awareness.

• Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, some tasks can be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up. Experience in fundraising or bid writing is a bonus, but a strong willingness to learn is just as valued!

This is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but it offers invaluable experience in charity fundraising, grants management, and the immense satisfaction of directly enabling a new organisation to make a profound difference in countless young lives.
