The purpose of this role is to provide administrative, project and event planning support to the Director of Network Programmes & Innovation. This will involve working with the Director and other colleagues to build a strong structure for the directorate as they work towards fulfilling their strategic goals.

Role responsibilities

·Diary and Email Management- Review incoming correspondence for the Director of Network Programmes & Innovation and take action as appropriate; drafting emails and documents, collecting and analysing information, initiating communication with key stakeholders and supporting the Director’s work as part of the Senior Leadership team.

·Event and Meeting Logistics - Organise regular meetings and events on behalf of the Director of Network Programmes & Innovation, liaising with external partners and key stakeholders.

·Project Planning – Provide administrative and logistical support to develop and deliver a range of projects on behalf of the Director of Network Programmes & Innovation and the Operations leadership team.

·Working with stakeholders - Work closely with people across the network and externally to ensure that the Network Programmes & Innovation directorate are engaged and represented as needed to maximise collaborative working.

·Travel and logistics – Booking travel, hotel rooms and meeting rooms for the Director of Network Programmes & Innovation.

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Clear understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality.

· Experience planning and supporting projects, events and meetings with multiple stakeholders;

THE ROLE
The Engagement and Communications Officer (ECO) is part of an exciting new ‘Building Capacity Project’ which seeks to develop the skills and capacity of communities on the west coast of Scotland to deliver the aims of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest i.e. protect and restore Scotland’s globally important temperate rainforest. The Woodland Trust has secured funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) for this project's initial two-year ‘development’ phase.

The ECO will support the Project Development Manager, project team members and local staff working in three landscape-scale project ‘hubs’ (in Argyll, Morvern and Torridon). The role will provide opportunities for audiences to connect with Scotland’s rainforest and build the skills and capacity needed to sustainably restore it. This involves working with communities, organisations and specialists to a) raise awareness of Scotland’s rainforest, b) facilitate volunteering, on-the-job training and the sharing of learning about how to restore it, and c) inspire a long-term commitment to look after it.  

The ECO will plan and deliver communications and engagement activities during the project's development phase, and support the Project Development Manager to create a comprehensive activity plan for the delivery phase.  This includes surveying audiences to benchmark attitudes; managing a launch event; using existing (or establishing new) local and regional communication channels to reach audiences and share progress; co-developing with partners a series of meaningful engagement opportunities; supporting project ‘hubs’ to develop their own communications and engagement plans and monitoring the impact of project activities.

This is an 18-month fixed-term position. Should our funding bid for the subsequent five-year ‘delivery’ phase be successful, we hope the ECO will remain in post to support the delivery of these plans. 

THE CANDIDATE
You will have experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders including community organisations and are comfortable collaborating and engaging effectively for different outcomes e.g. learning, consultation or facilitation. 

You will be able to confidently organise and deliver a range of events from online webinars to community gatherings; have working knowledge of using social media for marketing, capturing interesting content and writing engaging stories, and you’ll be happy self-managing a diverse and varied workload. 

Plus you’ll have experience working as part of a project team, supporting funding bids, budgeting for, and reporting on the impact of your activity. Oh and have a genuine interest in Scotland’s rainforest of course!

A full UK driving licence is required so you can travel across the west coast when required. Access to your own vehicle would be ideal.

Our Carer Liaison Workers work within both local NHS Trusts (BRI and Southmead Hospitals), where they make a real difference, supporting adult carers – those who care for others who can’t manage without their help, when the person they care for goes into hospital.

You would provide information, advice and support, enabling carers to navigate their way through the intricacies of the hospital journey, whilst liaising with health and social care professionals to ensure the carers voice is heard and their needs are supported, including during discharge planning.

You would also work with hospital staff to improve their knowledge and experience of supporting carers, through development work and training.

We do this through the Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK. In England, the Excellence Network is moving to a new regional model aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. The regional model in the devolved nations will remain the same: 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.

To help us deliver this new regional model, we are looking for 2 healthcare professionals to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis.

• Act as a professional ambassador for the Excellence Network and help represent the professionals in your region.
• Engage with Integrated Care Board (ICB) leaders to help influence the development of your Integrated Care System (ICS).
• Work closely with the Professional Engagement team at Parkinson’s UK to organise and hold engagement opportunities in your region. This will include working withthe team to hold and lead at least one in-person meeting in your region per year. Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting. Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year.

What expertise you’ll bring
You’ll:

• Be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with an interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.

• Meet regularly with the Professional Engagement team to discuss and plan activity in your region, working to a co-developed engagement plan for your PEN region. We will be flexible, taking into account your individual needs.
• Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
• Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. a ready made presentation on the PEN, data from the services within your patch, including relevant data from the UK Parkinson’s Audit.
• Be invited to an annual event for the National and Regional Clinical Leads, to provide updates, training and opportunities for discussion.

Time commitment will be 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.

Monthly rate will be based on skills and experience.

Term of consultancy services will be set tenure of 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend once for a further 3 years.

We will also ask you to send across a monthly invoice to the Professional Engagement Manager at Parkinson’s UK and include a short paragraph outlining what you’ve done in the role each month. We can provide an example of this.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE SLT

Contract: Permanent

The Executive Assistant (EA) to the SLT will facilitate all the charity’s governance requirements. St Pauls Advice Centre aims to reduce poverty by delivering advice and advocacy services covering a range of social welfare law issues. Need has grown as the recession has increased poverty and reduced support services, and our work is now, more than ever, vital for ensuring access to justice for all.

The role involves working on reception greeting St Pauls Advice Centre clients and other visitors, helping to identify issues and dealing with requests for information. You will be responsible for answering incoming telephone calls, distributing post and messages and liaising with other team members as needed. The role also involves supporting other members of the staff with administrative tasks.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a diverse and challenging environment. You will also have the desire to help and support people and a willingness to get involved with the services SPAC provides.

​We are delivering employment support in the South West of England as part of the Refugee Employability Programme (REP). Support, which will follow our STEP model, is offered to refugees to develop their skills and identify the opportunities they need to secure sustainable employment. We now have an exciting opportunity for an Employment Advisor to join the team providing support to clients across the South West of England.

The Role

You will provide employment support to refugee clients enrolled in the Refugee Employability Programme (REP) and help them to achieve their employability goals. You will be the main point of contact for clients enrolled in the project, delivering one on one support across a variety of employability activities including updating CVs, writing cover letters, searching for jobs, applying for jobs, finding volunteering, work experience and training opportunities and preparing for interviews.

​You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of clients such as voluntary and work placements and achieving and sustaining paid employment.

About you

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Experience in successfully supporting refugees into sustainable employment
• Understanding of the issues and challenges faced by unemployed people to finding work, including those who first language is not English
• Experience of providing advice and guidance and supervising a caseload of clients
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong IT skills and the ability to work remotely with confidence
• Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with clients with varying levels of English
