Mass Participation Events Manager

Purpose of the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and growing fundraising team with a new, ambitious strategy for income generation that the whole charity, senior management and Trustees are right behind.

The role itself is new as Cerebra looks to invest in and significantly grow and develop a new mass participation events programme (which includes schools fundraising products). You’ll work closely with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications who has a strong background in events and community fundraising.

You will lead the development of virtual/digital fundraising events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person owned events, DIY events and our relationships with schools. In time, you will build and foster relationships with other community organisations. You will be responsible for growing the team as the programme expands.  Innovation and product development are key areas of work.

You will play key role in the Fundraising Marketing & Communications directorate and developing our fundraising, audience and supporter engagement strategy.

This is a challenging but well-supported role, where you can make a large, career-defining impact on Cerebra and the children and families that we serve.

Overall budgetary responsibility is approximately £295k of income for 2026, with considerable scope and ambition for improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. New events programme

• Develop a multi-year events programme incorporating virtual/digital events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person own events and DIY.
• Project manage the delivery of the events in the programme to raise £295k in 2026.
• Develop multi-channel marketing plans for recruitment, focusing on key audiences.
• Develop multi-channel supporter journeys and top-class supporter experience to deepen engagement and increase income.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on income, expenditure, and supporter acquisition across the events programme and make decisions about where to invest time and resources, accordingly.
• Develop necessary assets, such as fundraising packs. Digital platforms, digital rewards and supporter groups.
• Work with the Corporate & Philanthropy Manager to offer events fundraising to corporate partners.

2. Innovation and product development

• Use data and insights to understand audiences and to innovate and develop new events from prototype and MVP onwards.
• Proactively research and identify opportunities to grow the portfolio, monitoring the market and sector trends and how they could be implemented at Cerebra.
• Constantly seek to iterate and improve events in all areas including marketing, supporter experience, delivery and fundraising.
• Create business cases and plans for each new event.
• Own and grow Cerebra’s own mass participation flagship event “Relay Your Way”.

3. Schools and community groups

• Develop a plan and products to engage schools with Cerebra fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop materials to support schools fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications and Contact Centre teams to recruit schools to take part in fundraising for Cerebra.
• Monitor and evaluate to scale successful schools fundraising products.
• Take learnings from schools fundraising to apply to other groups and organisations.

4. Culture & relationships

• Work to continue the development of a strong, person-centred, empathetic, supportive and inclusive culture at Cerebra.
• Build on excellent relationships between different teams and directorates for each teams’s and Cerebra’s overall strategic goals and objectives.
• Collaborate across departments to align partner activity with service delivery and communications.

5. Budgeting, monitoring and forecasting

• Working with the team and Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications to set income and expenditure budgets for Events and Community.
• Monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure and KPIs throughout the year.
• Providing quarterly income and expenditure re-forecasts.
• Ensuring all relevant information is recorded in line with charity, fundraising and data legislation and best practice.

6. Line Management

• Carry out recruitment within the team in line with Cerebra’s practices and values.
• Provide effective, remote line management, support and performance management to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.
• Provide practical and person-centred coaching support to direct reports.
• Ensure there is a continual focus on learning and development and wellbeing.

As a Challenge Events Fundraiser, you will support the Regional Fundraising Team to build a successful programme of challenge events that will raise funds and positively promote the Charity.

Previous experience of event planning, participant recruitment and sponsor stewardship would be an asset to the successful candidate, who will also need experience of working with a CRM database and be competent at interpreting financial information and reports.

Role Purpose

The Operations Manager will ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of Panathlon’s programmes and events by leading the operations function, managing resources, systems, logistics and suppliers, and ensuring high standards of health & safety, compliance, and participant experience. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations team across event delivery, logistics, venues, equipment, and staffing.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Site, Safety and Security Manager is an important new role at Chelmsford Cathedral. The role holder will have overall responsibility for the maintenance and security of Chelmsford Cathedral, Churchyard and its wider estate.

CONTEXT

The Site, Safety and Security Manager has a significant role in the overall management of Chelmsford Cathedral’s site and estates.

The Key aspects of this are:-

• Managing the maintenance of the Cathedral and its wider site (Cathedral church, site buildings and Churchyard) including the fabric, building services, engineering systems, utilities, security and grounds and the supervision of planned maintenance works;
• Overseeing the management of the Cathedral’s wider property portfolio in liaison with the Estate Committee, Chief Officers and Head of Property and Operations.
• Effecting and managing a robust and proactive culture to meet statutory obligations in relation to Health & Safety and other safety frameworks.
• Leading on site security particularly in relation to our public spaces, and liaising with local police and community protection services.
• Driving the Cathedral’s efforts to achieve the Church of England’s 2030 Carbon Net Zero targets, including reducing its emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting environmental stewardship, along with working to retain our Gold Eco Church Award
• Managing, monitoring and reporting, (as required), on the departmental budget and programme delivery.

A large 4 bedroom family home, (located on the Cathedral site), with front and back gardens and ample parking is included as part of the remuneration package. The house is deemed necessary for the performance of duties of this role so will not form a taxable benefit.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks). This role requires flexibility on the part of the post holder who will be required to be available, out of office hours, to perform the final evening sweep and securement of all buildings on site. The Cathedral is open seven days a week and the post holder will need to be able to work from time to time during evenings, weekends and bank holidays including at significant liturgical services such as at Christmas and Easter.

Governance Manager (12-months maternity cover)

About the role

This is an exciting time to join Emmaus UK and provide maternity cover for our Governance Manager.

This standalone role is responsible for managing the operations of the board and committees of Emmaus UK, as well as for providing support to local boards at Emmaus communities across Great Britain as they look to develop their governance arrangements.

The postholder will manage the board of trustees, leading on recruitment, induction and compliance, ensuring meetings run smoothly and are minuted effectively. They will also work as company secretary, managing the smooth-running of the AGM, and ensuring returns are made to Companies House and the Charity Commission within appropriate timeframes.

The Governance Manager is responsible for monitoring the development of policies, tracking completion and working with managers to continuously improve policies in line with changing regulation.

The role will also involve extensive work with members of the Emmaus movement, through the performance of reviews of local governance of members, reporting back to local boards on areas to celebrate and actions to develop. They will also be responsible for developing Emmaus UK’s best practice toolkit for trustees to refer to in developing their local governance arrangements, and for liaising with the wider Emmaus movement through facilitation of the membership processes with Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International.

• Act as company secretary for Emmaus UK, leading on the preparation for and delivery of the Annual General Meeting, filing required returns, developing documents associated with membership, and ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant charity and company law.

​Board and Committee Meetings

• Coordinate board meetings including organising venues, liaison with the relevant secretary and chairs in creating agendas, preparing and distributing papers and taking and circulating accurate minutes
• Oversee the smooth-running of committee meetings in conjunction with the admin team, including creation of the annual calendar.
• Ensure all follow up actions are coordinated, and ongoing rolling actions logs are maintained and appropriately shared with the Emmaus UK staff team.

Emmaus UK Governance Development

• Lead on governance projects within Emmaus UK, including but not limited to risk, policy management and internal governance reviews, reporting to the Board and subcommittees as appropriate.
• Provide governance advice and support to staff members on an ad hoc basis.
• Monitor all internal policies and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose and kept under review by the relevant staff members.

​Federation Governance

• Lead on reviews of members’ local governance arrangements, scheduling, undertaking analysis, reviewing documentation, collating responses from members and observations from Emmaus UK Senior Leadership Team members, and reporting to local boards on findings and Emmaus UK’s Audit & Risk Committee on emerging themes.
• Provide guidance for federation members on governance development through ad hoc advice, the production of governance toolkits and supporting resources.
• Facilitate the membership processes and requirements for Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International, supporting transitioning members and contributing to movement-wide events such as the World and Regional Assemblies, international visits and exchange programmes.

The Role
You’ll support the Events Team Manager in planning and delivering a busy calendar of events across the UK. From concept to completion, you’ll take ownership of logistics, marketing, and supporter engagement, ensuring every event runs smoothly and leaves a lasting impression. You’ll also work closely with regional committees, suppliers, and sponsors, building strong relationships and ensuring that every event aligns with the charity’s goals and values.

About The Role

This role will support the growth, development, and delivery of our Bespoke events portfolio. You will be involved in multiple aspects of Bespoke events team projects, recruiting supporters, stewardship planning, creation and evaluation and maximising fundraising opportunities for the Society. Working alongside the Bespoke Events Officer and Bespoke Events Manager to meet both income and expenditure targets and contribute to the wider team’s goals and strategy.

About the Event

The Schools Triathlon is a fun, mass participation sporting event for 7–13 year olds. Its mission? To get more young people moving, having fun, and discovering the power of fundraising. In 2025, over 10,000 young people took part in 12 events, raising an incredible £1.5 million for Restless Development and local charities. Since it began, the Schools Triathlon has raised over £5 million—making it our flagship fundraising event.

About the Role

As the Fundraising Events Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in delivering the Schools Triathlon series. You’ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Schools Triathlon Committee, event venues, local schools, participants, volunteers, and our event delivery partners.

You’ll take the lead on two to three Schools Triathlon events, managing all aspects of planning and delivery with the school and our third party event company. This includes delivering engaging school assemblies at local schools to inspire pupils to take part and fundraise for Restless Development.

Our volunteers are the heart of the Schools Triathlon and without them, these events simply couldn’t happen. This role will be crucial in recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers before, during, and after each event.

With support from the Senior Fundraising Manager. You will:

• Develop and implement creative volunteer recruitment strategies.
• Build strong relationships with local community groups 
• Manage volunteer communications, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience.
• Work closely with each of the host schools to support them with their student and staff volunteers
• Lead on the Duke of Edinburgh volunteer programme, working closely with host schools to expand and strengthen this initiative.

This is a varied and hands-on role, offering plenty of opportunities to develop your skills across different areas of events and volunteer management. You’ll need to be proactive, adaptable, and able to manage your time effectively while staying calm under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll be working closely with a wide range of people.

Expected travel : Travel to London for staff meetings and other areas in the UK. Evening and weekend work for which time off in lieu will be given. Expenses for travel and work outside working hours will be given according to our policy.

Key Responsibilities:

Schools Triathlon Events:

• Support the planning and delivery of Schools Triathlon events from start to finish.
• Work collaboratively with the wider Schools Triathlon team to ensure smooth logistics, communications, and event-day operations.
• Attend meetings with schools, venues, and third-party suppliers to coordinate event logistics.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders including schools, committees, and delivery partners.
• Deliver engaging school assemblies and fundraising workshops to inspire participation and fundraising.
• Manage the assembly tracker to ensure it is kept up to date, with relevant members of the team notified when new assemblies are booked in.

Volunteer Management

• Take ownership of the volunteer project plan for all Schools Triathlon events.
• Lead the recruitment of event volunteers and student volunteers across host schools.
• Build strong, positive relationships with volunteers, ensuring a high-quality and rewarding stewardship experience.
• Coordinate and support local volunteer groups to ensure each event is fully staffed.
• Work closely with the Senior Fundraising Manager and host schools to deliver and expand the Duke of Edinburgh volunteer programme.
• Identify creative ways to grow and strengthen the Schools Triathlon volunteer network.
• Manage the volunteer inbox, responding promptly and professionally to all enquiries.

Systems, Processes & Communications:

• Support the team with event communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional responses.
• Use DotDigital to deliver email communications to volunteers and event participants.
• Confidently use Excel to process data and maintain accurate records across internal and external databases.
• Log and manage data accurately in Eventrac (registration system) and Salesforce (CRM), including imports, new records, and regular data cleaning.
• Support the management of fundraising through JustGiving, ensuring all fundraising pages are correctly logged and tracked within the CRM. 

Others 

• Must attend the Schools Triathlons as needed across April, May and June and other occasional evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.
• Support on wider charity initiatives as and when needed
• Many of the schools we have relationships with are not accessible by public transport, so it is vital you have access to a reliable roadworthy vehicle. All travel will be reimbursed in accordance with Restless Development’s travel policy.
• Undertake any other duties as requested by the Senior Fundraising Manager. 
• Support the Senior Fundraising Manager with developing an individual giving process.

• Experience in planning and delivering events, ideally within the charity, education, or community sector.

• Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
• Enthusiastic, personable, and confident when engaging and motivating others.
• Creative and proactive, able to take ideas from concept through to delivery.
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and confident using digital tools for communication and data management.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for travel to event sites and schools).
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to help plan and support events and fundraising activities.

Desirables

• Experience in fundraising or supporting fundraising initiatives.
• Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), event platforms (Eventrac, JustGiving), and email marketing tools (DotDigital).
• Experience delivering presentations or workshops, particularly with young people.
• A genuine belief in the mission and values of Restless Development, and a commitment to representing them through your work.
