ABOUT THE ROLE
Working closely with the Grants Managers and under the Head of Fundraising and other members of the senior Volunteer Grant Team, the Grants Coordinator (Unpaid Volunteer) will research, write grants, maintain, and coordinate fundraising efforts for AHO, with a target of a £5m yearly income by the end of 2030.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of Grants Coordinator (Unpaid Volunteer) will research, maintain and coordinate
- Research, write and manage a pipeline of trusts and foundations, aid grants and public sector tenders and contracts that offer unrestricted and programmatic funding.
- Initiate new and manage existing relationships with trusts and other grant-making bodies through emails, calls, meetings, and attendance at events.
- Organise and lead regular fundraising meetings with the Head of Fundraising and the senior team.
- Write and lead on applications, bringing together information and expertise from colleagues as necessary.
- Lead and manage the reporting process to existing funders, bringing together input from colleagues as necessary.
- Attend and assist with public-facing events organised by AHO or others when necessary.
- Work with the senior team to write compelling concept notes and presentations for new areas of work.
- Work with staff and Volunteers across AHO to produce compelling and successful fundraising bids.
- Closely monitor deadlines for applications and reporting, proactively and confidently liaising with relevant staff for timely and high-quality submissions.
- Identify new opportunities for unrestricted and project funding from a range of sources, including trusts, grants and charitable foundations; European, national and local government; individual supporters; and commercial opportunities.
- Develop and maintain general content and resources in line with branding, such as presentations and texts for staff to reference and share with potential funders.
- Contribute to quarterly Board papers through pipeline updates and the CEO's report.
- Contribute on an ad hoc basis to any other reasonable activity as requested by senior staff.
- Very occasional travel to Africa and other Diaspora for work with our sister organisation, AHO EU and to regions in England where colleagues are based.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Key Competencies
- Experience in awarding, managing or applying for grants.
- Experience in awarding, managing or applying for grants.
- Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and US legislation, accounting requirements and good practice relating to grant awarding and reporting.
- Experience in using a CRM system or database.
- Experience in efficiently managing and delivering grant-funded projects and programmes in low settings
- Ability to work unsupervised, a motivated self-starter, with robust problem-solving, administrative, and multi-tasking skills and is good at follow-through.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to assimilate and digest large volumes of information.
- Strong attention to detail and strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively and to work with changing priorities and time pressures.
- Ability to occasionally adjust working hours to fit with multiple time zones as required.
- Strong written and communication skills. You will be able to present information in a compelling way through proposals, memos and PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds
- Desire to contribute to new ideas and ways of working to develop improved models, processes and use of technology in grant-making.
- Outstanding partnership management skills, with the ability to support and establish highly collaborative internal and external partnerships.

Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. What you'll do
You'll kindly volunteer your time at Sudbury's fundraising events to help raise vital funds for the NSPCC. You could be selling raffle tickets, supporting a collection, making tea and coffee at a lunch or coffee morning or providing support to one of Sudbury's annual
events. You will engage with the public, organisations and the local community – promoting a positive image of the NSPCC! We'd particularly like to hear from you if your workplace run a matched funding scheme alongside your attendance at a fundraising event.
You'll work closely with your regional Community Fundraising Manager and the Sudbury Team who can provide you with a choice of events to attend. This role offers the opportunity to build your personal skills and raise your profile in your community. It is flexible, you only need to commit to a couple of hours a month but you can do more if you would like to.

What is a Branch Fundraiser?
As part of a local team, our fundraisers represent SSAFA at events, and in public. The role includes helping at fayres, street collections, concerts, quizzes, raffles, sporting events etc.
Why do we need you?
SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.
What would you be doing?
Examples of tasks would include:
- Being part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
- Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g. handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
- Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
- Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

Why does this role matter to Human Appeal?
Volunteers are an integral part of Human Appeal’s success. They are the ones that create real change for those most in need. This is your chance to meet new people, gain new skills and experience and have fun whilst being part of a great cause.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, fast learning volunteers creative engagement intern to join our growing team at Human Appeal; helping us to produce content for our London volunteers through new and innovative ideas including daily reminders, summary posts following our events to show the impact volunteers are making. To maximise volunteer support and showcase the Human Appeal teams work who are delivering the projects on the ground.
Main tasks include:
· Produce High Quality, engaging content in various formats tailored to specific platforms and targeted at volunteers. E.g Developing weekly posts for our volunteer group chats, curating motivational reels, event summary posts and showcasing our projects.
· Managing our London and South Volunteer Led Instagram Account- By posting updates from our events and engaging content.
· Research new or existing social engagement strategies to apply in our volunteer groupchats
· Attending events to gather content for upcoming content creation
· Develop new and engaging content ideas to increase volunteer retention and awareness of our campaigns
· Monthly Newsletter to summarise all significant campaigns- volunteer updates.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills required:
§ A good understanding of content creation: Social media posts/reels etc.
§ A good understanding of using Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Suite, MS Office Suite
§ Pursuing a degree or equivalent in Design/Creative/Graphic Design/ Marketing/ Production or Brand management or relevant experience.
§ Effective written and oral communication skills
§ Ability to work well in a team
§ Problem solving skills
§ Ability to prioritise your workload
