HR and Volunteering Manager:

We are looking for an HR and Volunteering Manager who can join our new charity start-up and help us build a solid foundation. You will be responsible for setting up and managing all aspects of our HR and volunteering programmes at Unlock YOUR Potential.

You will be responsible for:

• HR Programme Development and Management: Set up, develop, and manage the HR programme. Design and implement initiatives that enhance HR practices and volunteer management.

• Volunteer Recruitment and Retention: Develop strategies to recruit, train, and retain volunteers. Ensure volunteers are engaged and supported.

• Partnership Building: Collaborate with local businesses, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to create partnerships and opportunities.

• Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the HR and volunteering programmes, making adjustments as needed.

• Team Leadership: Lead and support a team of dedicated volunteers and staff.

• Fundraising and Outreach: Contribute to fundraising, grant applications, and community outreach efforts.

• Communication and Collaboration: Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the organisation.

BFUK are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate volunteers to support the delivery of our creative and educational hospital workshops. These sessions not only offer children and young people the opportunity to be imaginative, learn something new, and socialise, but also serve as a welcome distraction from time spent in the hospital. There is always something new to experience; previous workshops have included various crafts, make-up artistry, indoor gardening, hands-on VR demonstrations and mocktail making!

Our workshops take place in Great Ormond Street Hospital on Tuesdays and University College Hospital on Wednesdays.

As a Workshop Volunteer, you will:

• Assist with the preparation of workshop activities and support the sessions to run smoothly
• Chat and engage warmly with children, young people and their families during activities, offering encouragement and support
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team
• Have the opportunity to plan and lead your own workshop, if you wish

About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Graphic Designer to bring the visual identity of the project to life. From social media graphics to event branding and promotional materials, you will help ensure the festival’s visual storytelling is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with our mission. This remote volunteer opportunity is perfect for creatives looking to build a professional portfolio while contributing to a high-impact community event.

Position Overview:
The Graphic Designer will play a central role in shaping the visual communications for “Solta o Jogo” and other Quilombo UK initiatives. Working closely with the Creative Director and Marketing team, the designer will conceptualise and produce a range of creative assets across print and digital media. This is an ideal role for someone with strong design skills who is passionate about culture, community, and impactful storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Development:

• Study design briefs and translate project goals into compelling visuals.

• Develop concepts, mock-ups, and final designs for social media, posters, presentations, merchandise, and web content.

• Ensure all graphics are visually cohesive, accessible, and aligned with brand guidelines.

Design Production:

• Use design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce high-quality visuals.

• Test designs across various formats (print, digital, mobile).

• Revise designs based on feedback from the team and stakeholders.

• Prepare final graphics and ensure they are formatted correctly for production and distribution.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with copywriters, programme leads, and event coordinators to integrate design into broader communication strategies.

• Present design ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Attend creative planning sessions and contribute visual ideas to campaign strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

 Degree or current studies in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:

• Proven experience in graphic design, either freelance or in a professional setting.

• A strong portfolio showcasing illustrations, branding, and layout design.

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.

• Skills:

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

About the opportunity

Can you spare 2 hours a week on a Thursday evening to work with some of the most friendly, welcoming people you’ll ever meet? If so, then please come and help our volunteers to organise fun activities at our ever-growing club for people with learning disabilities. No previous experience is needed, you just need a caring attitude and sense of fun.

Our club is split into two age groups 14-25 yrs (Juniors Club) and 25 yrs+ (Vets Club). You have a chance to make a real difference to either group by creating new experiences, helping our members to grow in confidence, build friendships and learn new skills. Our specialist club leaders will support and train you and you’ll benefit from working in a very rewarding environment!

What are we looking for?

• You do not need previous experience, just an open mind and a positive attitude towards disability.
• You need to be willing to have fun and commit to The Vets Club or Juniors Club, on at least a fortnightly basis.
• You will need enthusiasm and good communication
• Available regularly (but not necessarily every week) on Thursdays between 7pm and 9pm.

What does a typical Thursday night session look like?

It can be anything from cooking, visiting a local open mike night, museums, arts and crafts, the most competitive game of Uno you'll ever have, table tennis, basketball, musice, dance, we tried sound-bathing recently, basically anything and everything that we design with our members.

Please note: Applicants must be UK-based and able to travel easily to Wimbledon area. Living in London or near SW London. Travel expenses are not covered to and from Squad but reasonable expenses can be covered (when agreed in advance) for travel or other necessities as part of Squad sessions.

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Wandsworth Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We are recruiting for a volunteer who would like to play a role in helping others to express themselves through writing. Would you like to support others to use their imagination to portray a message?

Creative writing is a great way to express yourself using your own creativity and imagination through story telling or poetry. It is an opportunity to reflect on your own experiences and put it down on paper. Creative writing has been shown to improve emotional and mental well-being. Through creative writing, we can gain insight into our emotions, develop self-expression and communication skills, cultivate empathy and understanding of others, boost our imagination and creativity.

About the service..

We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

What you will be doing

• Lead and facilitate a weekly Creative Writing Group, encouraging participants to explore their thoughts and feelings through writing exercises, prompts, and storytelling.
• Guide a subsequent Feelings Forum where participants can share and discuss emotions sparked by the writing session or current experiences in a respectful and supportive atmosphere
• Foster an inclusive, non-judgmental environment where all voices are heard and valued
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the organisation’s safeguarding and mental health protocols
• Prepare session materials and adapt activities to meet the needs of diverse participants

The skills you need

• Prepare session materials and adapt activities to meet the needs of diverse participants
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to mental health challenges
• Ability to facilitate group discussions and manage diverse emotional responses constructively
• Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
• Training or experience in mental health, counselling, social work, or a related field is advantageous but not essential
