As one of two PR Managers, you'll be the key point of contact for all PR communications, helping to develop and execute forward-thinking PR plans and strategies. Responsible for implementing and managing a proactive PR activity schedule, you’ll craft compelling content to entice journalists and the media to support our work. Responding reactively to requests the charity receives.

Championing best practices in PR, you’ll drive effective, integrated campaigns across the UK, ensuring a cohesive approach to both traditional and digital media.

Diving into projects such as Deaf Awareness Week, our ‘It does matter’, access to Ear Wax removal services and major healthcare campaigns, you’ll raise awareness of the barriers facing the 18m people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, getting these issues on the national agenda, starting conversations around hearing health.

You'll also be celebrating inclusion, working the UK's biggest TV shows, and campaigning for equal access to healthcare.

You will be responsible for:

• Coordinating our PR content calendar, creating and curating inspiring and shareable materials that resonate with our target audiences,reporting on performance against KPIs and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

• Managing media and stakeholder relationships, ensuring timely, engaging, and brand-appropriate responses to queries and feedback.

• Acting as the first point of contact for reactive media inquiries, providing prompt and effective responses to manage and shape media coverage.

• Overseeing PR project management for campaigns, collaborating with colleagues across the MarComms team.

• Championing PR best practices. Advising and assisting teams, applying insights from performance analysis to ensure all PR content is designed to maximise reach, engagement, and impact.

Role Purpose

Key responsibilities

About the role

You will play a key part in developing and delivering our community fundraising strategy, making sure that anyone and everyone who wants to fundraise for people with arthritis has a great experience doing it. You will build strong relationships with supporters, be that as part of a golf club charity of the year partnership, workplace fundraising or supporting someone with a personal connection to arthritis to raise money in their local area. Developing, delivering and ultimately growing our Facebook challenges offer will be a huge focus – we have some great learnings and are now looking to take them to the next level. There will be plenty of opportunity to test and learn as part of this, and you will get the chance to learn and develop in the role too.

You will work collaboratively with teams across the organisation, from marketing to product development to events, to make sure our products meet the needs of our supporters and that their journey through the organisation is seamless. You will join an ambitious, creative and passionate fundraising team who put people with arthritis and our supporters at the heart of our work.

About you

• Proven successful track record of planning and delivering community fundraising products (or similar) to achieve a good return on investment.

The RCOphth provides education, support and professional development for ophthalmologists of all grades and across all of their roles. Our principal activity is the prevention of food poverty and food insecurity by offering culturally appropriate food, fresh fruits, and vegetables as well as dietary and religiously appropriate food which we have continued to run at our five-week sessions to local people for as long as they address the underlying cause.

The Service Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the mission of our charity by providing comprehensive assistance and advocacy services to individuals and families in need. Closing Date: Interviews to be held virtually on a rolling basis 

Application process:

1. Complete our Application form 

2. Submit your CV with a Supporting Statement.

3. Initial Telephone interview - shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Telephone interview

4. If you are shortlisted from the Telephone Interview, you will be invited to a formal interview which will consist of the following: 

• A  Presentation topic will be shared with you in advance

• 60-minute Panel Interview with members of the SLT / Board of Trustees 

• Questions will be shared with you before the interview so that you can prepare. 

• Role-specific Practical Task
