A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances in Mid-Sussex RH15, RH16, RH17, BN6, BN45.
• Providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

As a MindWell Community Events Champion, you’ll be part of the MindWell team and play a vital part in helping us raise awareness of the information, guidance and support MindWell offers. 

• You’ll attend health and wellbeing events where you’ll meet and talk to people about MindWell. 

• You’ll hand out our MindWell promotional materials and, where possible, show people the MindWell website. 

• You'll encourage people to sign up for the MindWell newsletter.

• Gathering people’s feedback about the website would be a huge help.

• Promote events on social media if you know how to.

Every year hundreds of people run, abseil, skydive and eat cake, to raise funds to help Rainbows care for babies, children, young people and their families across the East Midlands. Behind them are a team of dedicated Event Volunteers who are vital in ensuring our events run smoothly.

From local concerts and golf days, to daring abseils and firewalks our events are vital in helping to raise not only funds, but awareness of the work Rainbows Hospice does across the East Midlands and they simply wouldn’t be possible without our enthusiastic volunteers helping on the day. Not only is it a great opportunity to connect with a range of different people; it is also one of our most flexible volunteering roles, allowing volunteers to choose events which fit around their schedule and commitments.

Typical tasks the role could involve:

• Be the Welcoming Face: Collect tickets and entrance fees, welcome guests with a smile and help set the tone for an unforgettable event.
• Get Hands-On: Assist in setting up and taking down equipment and stalls.
• Be a Cheerleader: Join a cheer station and support our runners to the finish line •
• Guiding Star: Assist with marshalling duties, from directing car parking to guiding runners along their routes, ensuring the event runs smoothly and safely.
•  Refreshment Hero: Serve refreshments to participants, supporters and staff, keeping everyone energised and ready for action.
• Information Sharer: Actively engage with members of the public and be the go-to person for those seeking information about Rainbows and our important work.
• Entertainment Champion: Run our raffles, tombola’s and other fundraising games engaging participants and members of the public.

SLM has long since established itself as an incredible event that showcases the work of Street Child, enabling participants to explore the wonderful country of Sierra Leone and make a positive impact all whilst taking on a challenge.

We are seeking someone with an interest in running/cycling/adventure and ideally experience in International Development to come and join our project. Whether you have just finished studying at university or are taking a career break and looking for a challenge, this is your chance to make a unique contribution to an internationally recognised NGO. 

Key tasks you will be involved in are: 

• Support the SLM team with stakeholder meetings
• Support the SLM team with race day plans, recruitment & procurement
• Arrange all in-country transport including buses, shuttles and 4x4’s
• Manage all necessary hotel/guesthouse reservations
• Liaise with Street Child of Sierra Leone staff to organise programme visits
• Recruit race day sponsors and participants

To be a great fit for this position you will be a highly self-motivated and pro-active individual, with excellent organisational skills. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in logistics and event coordination, but are open to alternative, relevant experience.  

Key skills: 

• Ability to work quickly and effectively in an unfamiliar environment, forming strong relationships with our local team 
• Ability to be flexible and work outside your specific duties when needed; have fun and laugh along with a sometimes unpredictable environment!

Successful applicants will be living primarily in the Street Child compound in Makeni, Sierra Leone, with basic conditions. You will be expected to travel independently around Sierra Leone, and will spend time either in Street Child accommodation or local guesthouses.

- Assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of events and activities.

Who are we?

At CPRE London we campaign to save and promote green spaces in Greater London and make London a better, greener and healthier place for everyone to live in, work in and enjoy.

We are part of the national network of CPRE, the countryside charity. 

We are currently seeking individuals with event management skills and with a passion for environmental conservation to join our team.

An event volunteer will help CPRE with the work involving multiple events, including the "Urban Tree Festival" and "London Rivers Week". 

Successful candidates will get the opportunity to participate in a range of fun and interesting events across May and June.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting event design to help the public engage with the importance and value of London's trees and rivers and potentially be inspired to get involved in green volunteering
