About the Role
We’re looking for two National Clinical Officers (Paramedicine & AHPs) to join our National Clinical Team.
These key volunteer leadership roles will provide strategic clinical leadership, management, and expert advice to ensure our clinical services remain safe, compliant, and of the highest quality.
Working closely with the National Clinical Lead (Paramedicine & AHPs) and the wider National Clinical Team, you’ll help shape the direction of Paramedicine and Allied Health Professional practice across St John Ambulance Cymru.

About You

Point of Growth is launching The Cultural Ambassadors, a 9-month community project in Greater Manchester beginning October 2025. Our mission is to support newcomers and migrants settling in the UK by co-creating a culturally informed guidebook, running safe conversational and information sessions, and building peer networks. Volunteers will play a vital role in making sessions accessible, welcoming, and safe.

Terms of Appointment
- This is a voluntary position; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed if required to travel for meetings.

- The initial term is three years, with the option of renewal for a further three years.
- It is a criminal offence for an individual to serve as a Trustee if disqualified from doing so. Appropriate checks will be carried out to ensure that individuals who have been selected to become a Trustee are eligible. These checks will include references and Charity Commission/Companies House verification.
- There will be an initial probationary period of 1-year.

Who are Literacy Pirates?
Through our term-long after-school programmes, we develop the literacy, confidence and perseverance of children aged 9-13 who are falling behind in school and have fewer opportunities in their personal lives, so that they can succeed at school and beyond.
Children join us on our Virtual Ship once a week to practise their reading and writing. By welcoming them into our joyful spaces, publishing their work in the real world, and celebrating everything they do, we develop their literacy, confidence and perseverance.
What does a Volunteer do?
As a Volunteer Crewmate, your role is to join our online sessions and help children practise their reading and writing in small groups by providing constant encouragement, positivity and celebration of their achievements.
Sessions are led and managed by staff, which means your time is solely focused on supporting the children in breakout rooms.

We’re looking for three amazing volunteers to join our Support Service team at the Charity for Action on Spiritual Abuse. This is a meaningful role where you’ll support people who’ve been hurt in religious, spiritual, or faith-based communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Support Service Volunteer, you’ll be part of a team offering emotional support and guidance to people who’ve experienced spiritual abuse, or who have been hurt in religious, spiritual or faith-based communities.
You’ll start by arranging an initial call to listen to their story and help them figure out what kind of support they need. If they want more help, you can offer up to five follow-up calls, spaced apart fortnightly or longer.
You’ll help people by:
- Listening with care and compassion
- Explaining what spiritual abuse is
- Talking through their options if they want to report what happened
- Helping them focus on what they need now and how to move forward
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be an expert, but we’re looking for people who:
- Live in the UK
- Have experience or training in listening, wellbeing, or safeguarding
- Communicate clearly and kindly
- Understand how abuse in faith settings can affect people — through personal experience, supporting others, or training
- Are emotionally ready to support others (especially if you’ve been through something similar)
- Can work well in a team and ask for help when needed
- Have access to a computer and a private space to make calls online

We’re looking for admin volunteers to help with our daily operations. We have a variety of ways you can get involved:

We’ve designed our volunteering programme to be flexible and adaptive to you. All volunteering is 100% remote and you’re supported fully by our team. You control what you do and how many hours per week you want to volunteer. Some roles may require an Enhanced DBS check. If your application is successful, we will ask for a donation towards the cost of your enhanced DBS check if it's required for your role. This cost is £20.60.

Volunteer: The PR Officer of Hidayah plays a vital role in raising the profile of the organisation. The PR Officer will take the lead in managing relationships with external media, agencies, and partners to help Hidayah achieve its strategic aims. The PR officer will work closely with the Chair and two digital trustees, and focus on increasing visibility, strengthening our public image, and supporting advocacy through effective communication.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?
This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

Act as the main point of contact for external media outlets, journalists, and PR agencies on behalf of Hidayah.

Work with the Chair to help implement their media strategy and PR aims.

Draft, review and issue press releases, statements, and media content as needed.

Identify media opportunities that can help platform Hidayah’s work, voices, and campaigns.

Cultivate and manage relationships with media partners, influencers, and relevant organisations.

Provide PR advice and guidance to the Chair and help ensure consistent messaging.

Contribute to the development of key messaging and ensure alignment with organisational policies and values.

Help monitor media coverage and report back to the Chair on PR impact and reach.

How much commitment is required?
We are flexible around your own schedule. One average the role will require 2-4 hours per week. The following commitments are in place for all Hidayah volunteers:

To help with fundraising efforts by securing media coverage for campaigns and initiatives.

To check and respond to PR-related emails promptly.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.
We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.
We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Attendance at local meetings (2 per month) at Preston, Lancaster or Kirkham. Completion of the Emergency Responder Training course.
