This is a new role for Emmaus Bristol. Through our five-year-planning process we identified a new staffing

The Head of Resources therefore, will have a key role to play in making Emmaus Bristol an effective charity.

This is a senior leadership role, but as we are a small charity, all roles are somewhat hands-on. You’ll need to be as confident discussing our reserves policy with trustees, as you would be resolving a cash discrepancy with a retail team member, and just as good at strategy as you are at detail.

At Ambitious about Autism we're currently looking for a Governance Assistant to join our Finance and Planning team.

You'll provide effective and efficient support to the Trustees, Governors and members of Ambitious about Autism and the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust; administering Board and Committee meetings and producing high quality minutes; facilitating the recruitment and induction of new Trustees and Governors; ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity. 

• An ability to keep a calm head when faced with a reactive media situation in a manner that best protects the reputation of the charity

The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Royal British Legion Industries Ltd. Overview of the Role & Team:

RBLI is a diverse and complex organisation, with divisions that cover social care, property management, estates management, welfare and employment solutions, manufacturing, and marketing / fundraising.  There are also several support functions including people and culture, finance and performance, business systems, and risk and compliance.  This role is an essential part of the change process currently ongoing across RBLI.

The team is overseen by the Director of Governance, Compliance and Business Systems.  Key working relationships include the board of trustees, the SLT, Assistant Directors, the Strategic Assistant, the wider Governance & Compliance Division, and the support functions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Governance:

• Oversight of all board and sub-committee meetings, ensuring there is an efficient and effective structure to achieve organisational objectives including the review and maintenance of all terms of reference.
• Compliance with internal KPIs in relation to issue of board and sub-committee papers.
• Oversight of all matters arising and actions.
• Support the induction process for new trustees.
• Support the board and committee effectiveness review.
• Submission of all statutory returns.
• Ensuring compliance with the Companies Act and the Charities Act.
• Oversight of any governance related returns.
• Oversight of key RBLI registers such as Declaration of Interests.
• Oversee submission of documentation during the annual audit process.

Company Secretarial:

• Responsible for planning and managing the annual cycle of meetings for the board and sub-committees, including maintenance of the forward plans and agendas.
• Taking minutes of the boards and sub-committees (shared responsibility).
• Oversee the logistics for the meetings.
• Responsible for planning the AGM.

Legal and Assurance:

• Monitor compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, proving advice to SLT and members of staff as necessary.
• Oversight and communication of all compliance policies such as Conflicts of Interests and Gifts & Hospitality.
• Supporting the Director of Governance, Compliance & Business Systems to deliver the assurance and compliance programmes.

Risk Management:

• Managing the insurance process in terms of:
• Collating information in relation to claims
• Submitting claims information
• Supporting the Finance Team in the annual insurance renewal process

They will also need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Hallé as well as with external customers and suppliers.

The post is full-time permanent based on a 36.25-hour week. Our core office hours are 09.00-17:15, from Monday to Friday. There is an option to work up to 50% of hours from home.

Established in 2016, REB now has close to 130 corporate members and is still growing. It is a not-for-profit organisation.

The Executive Management Administration team of 5, headed by the MD, run the organisation on a day-to-day basis. The team is supported by the REB board and committees, together with 3rd party providers for accounting, payroll, banking, media & public relations, website hosting and IT services.

Role and Responsibilities

DUE TO THE INCREASE IN REB MEMBERSHIPS, NETWORKS AND ACTIVITIES, AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY CROSSING BOTH ADMIN AND EVENTS SUPPORT, IS BEING RECRUITED.

TIME AND WORKLOAD WOULD BE DIVIDED BETWEEN BOTH ADMIN AND EVENTS SUPPORT AT AN AGREED SPLIT, BASED ON BUSINESS NEEDS.

Key Tasks –

Admin Assistant Role

· Work with the MD to provide services to the Board, the Patrons Group and Network of Networks (where required) including:

o Booking meeting rooms

o Setting meeting dates and sending calendar invitations (For MD and Executive team on an ad hoc basis)

o Circulating agenda & papers

o Attending meetings and taking minutes, predominantly with MD- both in person and virtually

o Maintaining the Terms of Reference

o Updating Board

o Main point of contact for Next Gen and NofN  committees -updating membership on the CRM and webpages for both and attending meetings

o Provide admin support to MD as required including setting up meetings, preparing presentation slides and uploading meeting notes to Sharepoint

Events Assistant Role:

· Support the Events Administrator in the delivery of the REB events programme including:

o Event logistics planning and delivery

o Venue liaison

o Contributor liaison

o Event marketing and booking support

o Event materials preparation

o Event set up and set down

o Maintaining CRM records

o Supporting with event comms and marketing on Dynamics Marketing system and website

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

1. Administrative and organizational skills

2. Events and logistics

3. Knowledge (preferably working knowledge) of Microsoft Dynamics and Marketing

4. Knowledge (preferably working knowledge) of current best practices and trends in ED&I, including familiarity with key concepts (e.g. allyship, unconscious bias, intersectionality, etc.)

PREFERRED SKILLS

1. Windows 10/Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and other capabilities

2. CRM and website management systems

3. Filing and organisational skills

4. Minute taking and assigning follow-up actions

5. Collaborative working in a small team environment

6. Working with board members/special advisors and committee members on reports, reviews, approvals and presentations

7. Real Estate industry knowledge
