Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be occasions when you will need to attend 2 directorate days and conferences/events. Concerts & Projects Manager

Position Summary

The Concerts & Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of several key areas of the orchestra’s core performance activity (including but not limited to: concerts in London and around the UK, commercial recording projects, the orchestra’s Garsington Opera residency and others).

Working in a fast-paced environment as part of a friendly, fun and creative team, the role of Concerts & Projects Manager provides a unique opportunity to work with leading musicians and conductors. Excellent organisational and budgeting skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking and a flexible approach to working will help you manage, develop and execute a diverse range of projects to the highest standard.

With oversight from the Senior Concerts Manager and Concerts Director, the post-holder will work closely with the Concerts Coordinators, Concerts Assistant and the Orchestra Operations Team in the delivery of outstanding performances in venues as varied as car parks, concert halls and country houses.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and coordinating of the London Season at the Royal Festival Hall.

• Planning and co-ordination of the Orchestra’s residencies in the main season: Basingstoke, Bedford, Canterbury & Leicester and in the summer season: Garsington Opera and Three Choirs Festival.

• Planning and co-ordination of the Orchestra’s UK engagements.

• Preparing concert/project budgets, managing and maintaining set budgets and final reconciliations/invoicing.

• Liaising with the Orchestra’s Head of Production and Stage Managers regarding practical arrangements for all concerts and projects, including but not limited to stage plans, arranging stage extensions where required, truck requirements etc.

• Liaising closely with the Orchestra Librarians on orchestrations and editions for repertoire being performed or recorded.

• Supervising the Concerts Coordinators and Assistant in the practical delivery of contracts, PPE letters, tech riders, dressing room and security lists, rehearsal venue bookings, detailed schedule preparation etc.

• Keeping abreast of all relevant agreements and updates from the Association of British Orchestras and Musicians’ Union.

• Liaising with the Orchestra Committee and Artistic Committee regarding player matters as directed by Senior Concerts Manager/Concerts Director

• Attending concerts & projects in London and around the UK. Representing the Philharmonia with utmost professionalism at all times.

The Philharmonia Orchestra is seeking an organised, analytical and proactive Development Research and Operations Manager (DROM) to support the growth in fundraising activity of a busy and ambitious orchestra. The post-holder will deliver high-quality philanthropic research, pipeline and CRM management, the creation of donor briefings for individual, corporate and trust supporters, and horizon scanning for new and future opportunities. 

As the department’s research and CRM lead, the DROM will generate prospect research on those suggested by senior volunteers (Board, Development Board etc.) and those identified in our database, Tessitura. They will support fundraisers across giving streams to create engagement and cultivation plans, and act as the pipeline management champion for the team. The DROM will support fundraisers to ensure activity and contacts is logged consistently, working closely with the Head of Development to monitor KPIs, track and record income and maintain accurate donor and donation records. 

This position is central to ensuring that frontline fundraisers can focus on income generation, supported by robust operational processes, accurate data, and high-quality research. 

This role reports to the Head of Development and will work closely with the Senior Development Manager (Philanthropy) and Director of Development. The work of the Development team is actively supported by the Philharmonia’s Development Board. 

Key Responsibilities 

Research and Pipeline Development:

• Identify, qualify and research prospective major supporters, including individuals, corporates and trusts

• Prepare tailored profiles and high-quality briefings to staff and senior volunteers for meetings and events

• Maintain and refine the prospect pipeline, ensuring clear pipeline management stages and next actions for prospects

• Conduct due diligence research as required for donor engagement

• Implement improvements to pipeline management process 

• Track sector trends and philanthropic activity to inform prospecting and cultivation

CRM, Data and Insights:

• Be the Tessitura CRM and financial process (such as Direct Debits and Gift Aid) lead for the Development team, maintaining accurate, timely, and GDPR-compliant records

• Develop and implement systems, workflows and reporting tools to support a data-led fundraising approach such as in membership acquisition

Job Purpose

The Communications and Content Officer supports the delivery of engaging and effective communications across Operation Smile UK’s channels. The postholder will create and coordinate content that raises awareness, supports fundraising, and strengthens the organisation’s profile in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Content creation and content management

• Working with the Senior Communications Manager, research, draft, and edit compelling content for the UK website, newsletters, and print materials.
• Support the reimagining of existing content to ensure messaging is fresh, relevant, and audience-led.
• Collate and maintain a library of case studies, stories, and assets for use across teams.
• Ensure brand voice and tone are consistently applied across all communications.

Digital and organic social media

• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar which supports our Communications Strategy and liaise with our Social Media Freelancer to plan and approve posts.
• Contribute to the delivery of multi-channel campaigns, liaising with internal stakeholders and suppliers to create assets and meet deadlines.
• Assist with monitoring and reporting on content performance, identifying opportunities for growth and engagement.

Campaign coordination

• Support the planning and scheduling of communications campaigns like World Smile Day and advertising events like our annual carols concert.
• Manage feedback processes to ensure the timely delivery of content and materials.
• Act as the first point of contact for all content requests from across the organisation.

Administration and finance

• Collate quotes for expenditure and liaise with suppliers as required.
• Track invoices, ensuring coding is accurate and amounts match agreed quotes.
• Maintain organised systems for content workflows, approvals, and campaign schedules.

Monitoring and evaluation

• Gather engagement and performance metrics from all channels.
• Provide regular reports to the Senior Communications Manager.
• Suggest improvements to optimise performance and impact.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grants Support Executive to join a leading national charity. This is a full-time, permanent role providing a support and delivery function for the charity’s individual and organisational grants programme.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Provide a secretariat function to the grants committee, including preparation of committee briefs, reports, draft minutes, and liaison with committee and sub-committee members
• Support the grants strategy programme director and board in delivery and administration
• Assist Grants Officers in making grants to partner organisations and individuals, deputising during periods of absence
• Manage the assurance visit programme, including preparation of briefs, visit reports, and follow-up actions
• Work with colleagues internally and externally to develop needs-gap reporting mechanisms
• Support the Executive Officer in preparing grants department financial reports, performance reporting, and forecasting products
• Assist in developing an outcome and impact reporting framework for supported organisations
• Manage the grants department’s key contact list, partner database, and information/knowledge management systems
• Develop and maintain the Grants Department business continuity plan
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably required to support the grants function

Ideal candidate profile:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in charity grant making, welfare, or related administrative experience
• Strong organisational and office administration skills
• Highly competent in MS Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with casework management or CRM systems desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce succinct and accurate reports, policy papers, and correspondence
• Financially literate with familiarity in financial management and reporting
• Self-starter, proactive, energetic, and reliable team player with a strong work ethic
• Methodical, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented with a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities

Location: Central London

Salary: £36,000

Working hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Working pattern: Hybrid, minimum 2 days per week on-site

Contract: Permanent
