About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. 

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Key Responsibilities 

We build demand and interest in evidence across the Children’s Services sector 

This will include: 

• Running events, speaking at conferences and curating webinars to bring evidence to life for practitioners 
• We have great relationships with the people who can make change happen.  

This will include:

• Developing great relationships with senior policy makers, sector leaders and experts, including representing YEF in external meetings and speaking at events.
• Managing a Strategic Advisory Board of leading experts across the children’s services sector and keep members onside and excited about our work.

We deliver our children’s services system recommendations. 

This will include:

• Helping to identify the right recommendations at a system level (such as changes in policy, regulation, inspection, funding, or guidance) that make it more likely highly vulnerable children get access to the right support at the right time. 
• Work out the best way to make our system recommendations happen (due for publication in December 2026) and then do it – persuading the key people to make changes that make a difference.
• Tracking progress carefully, being thoughtful and creative about when and how to change the plan.

We work out the most effective ways to connect people with the evidence, then make those things happen. 

This will include:

• Helping children’s services leaders change how they plan or provide services to better protect children from violence, based on the YEF Children’s Services Practice Guidance – due for publication in May 2026. 
• Creating a plan to get people to follow our guidance, using what we know about how they think and behave. 
• Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action 
• Continuously testing and improving our approach to get better results.

About You

You must have this sort of experience. 

• Delivering concrete change in practice or systems that improved children’s lives. You have significant experience in leading behaviour, practice or policy changes within a children’s services setting. You can show how these have been effective in delivering tangible change.  
• Leadership experience in the children’s services system. You’ve worked at a senior level in or with children’s services - especially local authority children's services, commissioning and/or children's social care policy, and you understand how to navigate and influence within these complex systems.

• Firsthand knowledge of the system that supports highly vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of or involved in violence. You understand the barriers these children face and what it takes to get them the right support.

Hybrid Working Details 

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.

As Facilities Co-ordinator, you’ll be the go-to person for all things facilities-related at our Ewell office and London City Hub. You’ll also provide remote support to our central charity branches nationwide, helping maintain safe, efficient, and welcoming environments for staff and volunteers.

This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same. From managing contractors and maintenance schedules to supporting health and safety compliance and coordinating office moves, you’ll be central to the success of our Facilities & Projects team.

The Role:
To assist in the delivery of a high-quality, widely respected and customer-influenced repairs and maintenance function by providing full project management support and customer liaison across the full range of Stoll’s property compliance and asset maintenance contracts and programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a positive image of Stoll to its customers, stakeholders, and other relevant outside bodies.
Provide input to the Corporate Plan and Team Plans through participation in Organisational, Departmental and Team Meetings.
Provide appropriate ‘team’ cover in the absence of other staff as reasonably requested.

Specific Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and implement the delivery of gas safety services to include annual gas safety checks to all dwellings and gaining access to inaccessible homes.
• Develop and maintain effective mechanisms to ensure all gas, LPG, oil, ASHP & renewables and solid fuel appliances are inspected annually.
• Maintain up-to-date and appropriate records for the proper management of the gas safety programme and all other property compliance programmes. This may include both paper and electronic records.
• Ensure that STOLL meet all statutory and HSE (Health and Safety Executive) requirements relating to all identified areas of property compliance including all elements of FLAGEL –   fire, legionella, asbestos, gas safety, electrical safety, and lifts.
• Work closely with the H&S Officer to ensure that work relating to fire safety is delivered appropriately and as required.
• Effectively manage appropriate facilities management and property compliance budgets and resources to ensure optimum service/programme levels are achieved.
• Process invoices and ensure contract payments are made in a timely fashion.
• Provide colleagues with itemised service charge estimates for tenants and leaseholders detailing the annual costs of servicing/maintenance/cyclical works.
• Ensure timely, accurate and relevant performance management information is available for review and can be produced for the property compliance function. Assist in monitoring performance targets to achieve continuous improvement.
• Assist with the preparation, administration and monitoring of facilities management and property compliance contracts and programmes. Prepare specifications and schedules and programmes of work. Issue works orders and monitor quantity, progress, and quality of works on site.
• Manage contractors daily across the full portfolio of facilities management and property compliance programmes, ensuring that contractors adhere to an agreed programme for each individual resident’s home and that collectively programmes are delivered on time.
• Ensure timely and accurate administration of all records relating to property compliance and facilities management. This will include input and record keeping and include supervision of contractors.
• Records must be maintained to a standard which ensures that all information in connection with servicing and testing programmes is readily retrievable when requested.
• Carry out site inspections of works in progress when required. Arrange and minute regular meetings with property compliance, facilities management and cyclical maintenance contractors either as specified in individual contracts, or on good practice grounds agreed with the Director of Property and Asset Management.

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

Breast cancer does not need to be detected late, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported by people like you, we will do all we can to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen.

The Role

As Head of Finance and Contracts, you’ll oversee all aspects of financial management and contractual compliance across the charity. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for managing and developing our small finance team, while also leading on budgeting, funder reporting and forecasting. Alongside this, you’ll oversee the organisation’s contracts ensuring we’re operating in line with best practice and regulatory requirements.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. .

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Line manage the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight.
• Actively participate in Leadership Team meetings, contributing to the development and achievement of strategic objectives.
• Support the development of the team structure, driving delivery, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Provide data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to inform long-term decision-making and business growth.

Financial Strategy & Reporting

• Lead the annual budgeting and reforecasting process, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Oversee monthly management accounts; meet regularly with Heads of Department to monitor spend and evaluate impact.
• Support with the preparation draft statutory accounts and coordinate audit queries.
• Conduct financial analysis, working with HoDs to assess ROI across key projects and income streams.

Operational Finance

• Manage VAT returns, ensuring compliance with
• Assess risk mitigation approaches to balance financial safeguarding with delivery of organisational objectives.
• Oversee monthly payroll processing in partnership with the payroll agent and resolve payroll queries.
• Ensure the overall smooth running of day to day finances, and finance policy adoption/ adherence.
• Reviewing and maintaining Cashflow and working capital documents.

Funding & Grants

• Provide financial oversight and input for grant and corporate funding applications.

Governance & Legal Oversight

• Attend Finance Committee meetings when necessary and support preparation of required reporting materials.
• Work closely with the Director of Operations and legal advisers to review contracts for grants, fundraising licenses, or procurement—particularly where risk or value is high.
• Oversee supplier, corporate partnership and grant contracts, where highly complex working with solicitors for advice
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure robust internal controls.
• Stay informed on changes to relevant financial, legal, and regulatory requirements affecting the charity sector.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Proven experience in charity finance, including budgeting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Strong knowledge of UK charity and company law.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience in managing or coordinating audits, payroll processes, and implementing robust financial controls.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and strong attention to detail.
• Strong technical proficiency in financial systems and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, accounting software).

Desirable

• Understanding of impact and ROI evaluation in a charity context.
• Experience supporting funding applications, particularly for grants and corporate partnerships.
• Experience working in a small charity environment, and creating new systems or processes.

The Role

As Head of Fundraising, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Fundraising and Marketing to develop and deliver The Kirkwood’s new fundraising strategy.

This is a senior, strategic role, working in close partnership with the Business Development Manager, Head of Retail, and Media & Marketing teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, supporting and motivating an energetic, passionate and high-performing fundraising team, including Community, Events, In Memory and Individual Giving.
• Identifying and developing new opportunities, producing business cases, and delivering pilot activity to sustainably grow the fundraising portfolio.
• Setting, monitoring, analysing and reporting on budgets, and on financial and non-financial performance.
• Upholding the ethos and values of The Kirkwood, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.

The Person

We are looking for an inspiring leader with significant senior management experience, ideally gained within the charity or voluntary sector. You will have strong knowledge of the charity fundraising landscape, along with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

You will be a compassionate and natural leader, able to inspire your team in delivering the new fundraising strategy. A positive, collaborative and passionate professional, you will have the skills to engage stakeholders and work as part of a leadership group.

You should be a strategic, long-term thinker with proven ability to develop and implement organisational and departmental strategy. You must also demonstrate experience in:

• Developing, monitoring, presenting and evaluating budgets, KPIs and business cases.
• Designing and delivering supporter journeys to improve donor retention and engagement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced major gifts fundraiser who is looking to grow their career in Higher Education through a senior role combining significant fundraising with management of a small team. You will be a collaborative fundraiser with expertise in major gifts and a strong track record of securing complex philanthropic support. Breast Cancer Now is entering an exciting new phase of development, with significant investment taking place across the high value fundraising team. As they prepare to launch their biggest campaign to date, there is a need to recruit a skilled principal gifts fundraising leader who can enable this critical function to further develop the BAU philanthropy programme while also driving critical fundraising activity with (U)HNWIs linked to the campaign. 

As Head of Philanthropy & Principal Gifts you will manage 3 direct reports, advocating for the team at a senior level cross-organisationally and empowering them to deliver against in year BAU and Campaign targets. You will drive a culture that focuses on elevating the portfolio, securing principal gifts and uplifting the support of existing donors. The Campaign offers a unique and compelling opportunity to connect with an impressive new network of prospective donors – driven through connections of the Campaign Board, of which you will personally manage a number of members, maximising reach through their networks to identify new prospects. 

For some prospects there is an expectation their motivations will align with the Campaign, but for others there may be greater connection to the charity’s support services or broader research commitments. You will be adept at understanding donor motivations to establish which propositions best align with their philanthropic goals. 

We are looking for a skilled, senior philanthropy fundraiser who brings a wealth of knowledge with regards to best practice and philanthropy fundraising principles who is keen to put their own stamp on things and establish a truly unique programme of activity, reflective of Breast Cancer Now’s culture and approach. 
You will join an established and high performing peer group, closely collaborating to ensure greater efficiencies and cross-team working. 

As Head of Philanthropy & Principal Gifts you will:

• Strategically lead philanthropy and principal gifts fundraising on behalf of the charity, maximising opportunities presented via the upcoming Campaign while considering programmes of activity that also support BAU fundraising.
• Personally manage and deliver a portfolio of (U)HNW prospects, focusing on long term relationships to secure transformational gifts at a 6-8 figure level. 
• Work closely with the Associate Director of Campaign and Campaign Board Members to ensure philanthropy fundraising strategies align with campaign strategy to maximise network opportunities, establishing strong relationships that drive principal giving activity. 
• Lead a skilled team, supporting their development and driving a culture of high performance to build strong, committed donor relationships. 
• Lead cross-organisational engagement for philanthropy, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strategic cultivation and solicitation of prospects. 

The role would best suit:

• An experienced principal gifts fundraising professional, with expertise of securing 6-figure+ and multi-year support.
• A strategic leader with experience of developing high-performing teams and maximising the potential of reports.
