We are looking for a dynamic and commercially minded leader to join us as Head of Business Development, a pivotal role driving innovation, income growth and community impact at Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove. You will be based at Kings Weald Community Centre, where you will lead the transformation of the site into a thriving community hub. You will take a lead role in growing and evolving our new customer membership platform by shaping offers, securing partnerships, and building a local business directory that brings real value to our community.
You will lead talented teams spanning Catering, Marketing & Comms, and our Gym and Centre staff – embedding a culture of collaboration, innovation and customer focus.
What You Will Do
- Lead and grow commercial income streams across our hubs – from catering to room hire as well as launching services at our new hubs including Power of Attorney work
- Act as Centre Manager for Kings Weald, building it into a vibrant and inclusive community space
- Oversee the development and promotion of our membership scheme, working closely with Marketing and Customer Services teams
- Identify and secure new commercial opportunities and partnerships particularly for our customer membership platform and business directory
- Collaborate with internal teams across Customer Services, Compliance and Fundraising to ensure joined-up delivery and maximum impact
- Use data and insight to shape pricing, offers and service design
- Manage budgets, contracts and supplier relationships with confidence and care

- A proven track record in business development and income generation, ideally within the charity or social enterprise sector
- Experience leading commercial teams, with knowledge of catering, marketing or membership offers

About the role:
As our Finance Manager you will be at the heart of the charity’s operations and play a vital role in helping to achieve our strategic objectives. Working closely with the Director of Operations and CEO, your role and expertise will be pivotal in driving excellence and integrity in financial management and strategic financial decision-making.
Your responsibilities will be to lead the entire financial lifecycle, from budgeting and forecasting, to the delivery of WellChild’s audit and the production of the charity’s Annual Report & Accounts to the appropriate standards.
What are we looking for:
You will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of financial management and a solid understanding of charity accounting (including SORP and Charity VAT) and statutory accounts preparation. You will have strong analytical skills, a strong attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the charity to support robust financial governance and ensure transparency in the management of financial operations. Your ability to interpret, analyse and communicate financial data will be key in informing decision-making and presenting clear, accessible reports to a range of stakeholders, including trustees and funders.
You will be confident using financial systems and tools such as Sage 50, Excel, and spreadsheets, and will consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you will be able to work independently while upholding the values and integrity of the organisation.
As the main finance role for the charity (supported by the Operations Team) you will be an excellent communicator, an emotionally intelligent and diligent team player who takes pride in their work and enjoys a diverse workload.

This role reports to the Senior Supporter Care Officer (SSCO) and ensures that the team successfully deliver an efficient and a first-class supporter experience for the charity.
This role will be known internally as Supporter Care Executive.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Supporter engagement
· Answering inbound telephone calls; responding to a wide range of enquiries including marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials.
· Managing email enquiries, either by responding or forwarding as necessary.
· Responding to written enquiries received in the post.
· Making outbound telephone calls in order to increase the value of, or to retain supporters; including thanking, obtaining Gift Aid declarations and reactivating lapsed donors.
· Recording feedback received by the charity and assisting in the resolution of complaints.
· Champion high quality supporter care, ensuring that all supporters and members of the public have an excellent experience when contacting the charity.
Donation processing, database and general administration
· Processing donations from telephone calls and mailings, acknowledging supporters appropriately.
· In Memoriam giving; sending out materials, processing donations and sending appropriate acknowledgements to donors, Funeral Directors, and the Next of Kin.
· Regular giving; processing new Direct Debit instructions and Standing Order payments, amending and cancelling gifts as necessary.
· Processing and thanking donations relating to regional fundraising and sporting events.
· Ensuring the integrity of the database (currently Salesforce), by amending supporter details as necessary.
· Opening and batching incoming post.
· Updating team procedures as required.
· Archiving, scanning and filing documents.
Other duties
· To take personal responsibility for ensuring a good working knowledge of Alzheimer’s Research UK when communicating with supporters. This will require attendance at marketing campaign briefings and other staff presentations and continuously building knowledge by taking the time to read daily news summaries, press releases and the staff intranet.
· To recognise fundraising, engagement and retention opportunities when communicating with supporters using a range of initiatives to explain how donations positively contribute towards the cause.
· To actively and enthusiastically promote supporter care at Alzheimer’s Research UK and be willing to take part in various initiatives to help maintain this such as department updates and trainings and being involved in inducting new starters to Alzheimer’s Research UK on the work of the Supporter Care team.

Mission Without Borders International is embarking on a season of renewal and growth. We have successfully implemented a new CRM system across our 12 affiliates who are scoped with raising financial and prayer support. The next phase of our systems upgrade will involve rolling out the new CRM system to our 6 field country operations in 2026. And then a new finance system. All of this with the goal of creating dashboards of data which provide real-time insights into the mission’s consolidated financial position and inform strategic decision-making. It is into this exciting new stage of the Mission that we seek a Director of Finance.
You will be a Christian, qualified accountant with proven experience as an international finance leader, having implemented new systems and worked across multiple jurisdictions. Experience of the charity/humanitarian sector and an understanding of the complexities of in-country programme management would be beneficial. You will have an open and servant-hearted leadership style that leads through team building and a drive to see excellence delivered through strong and transparent working relationships. You will be passionate about our vision to reach people for Christ.

About Khulisa:
Khulisa, meaning 'nurture' in the Zulu language of South Africa, is an award-winning charity dedicated to providing therapeutic support to young people. We focus on reaching those who are most at risk – young people from deprived communities who are often marginalized, vulnerable to exclusion, and at heightened risk of becoming involved in crime.
Our approach centres on safe, exploratory methods that aim to understand behaviour and experiences often rooted in trauma, abuse, and neglect. We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we also work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care.
