Job description

About Heal Earth Alliance

Heal Earth Alliance is a global coalition of mission-driven organizations dedicated to harnessing innovative and sustainable solutions to restore ecosystems, foster community resilience, and drive systemic change. We work collaboratively at the nexus of environmental conservation, social equity, and sustainable development to create scalable impact across regions.

Role Summary

As a Trustee/Governor with a primary focus on fundraising, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Heal Earth Alliance’s future. You will not only serve in a governance capacity—ensuring adherence to legal, financial, and ethical standards, but also spearhead strategic fundraising and resource mobilization efforts. Your leadership will be key in expanding our donor base, forming partnerships, and ensuring long‑term financial sustainability to amplify our mission.

Key Responsibilities

1. Governance & Strategic Oversight

  • Strategic leadership: Contribute to vision-setting, mission-alignment, and strategic plan development.
  • Fiduciary duty: Oversee governance, compliance with legal duties, financial stewardship, and risk mitigation.
  • Policy guidance: Develop and review governance policies including ethical standards, conflict of interest, and fundraising practices.

2. Fundraising & Resource Mobilization

  • Fundraising strategy: Define, implement, and regularly refine a diversified annual fundraising plan targeting individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, governments, and impactful grant opportunities.
  • Donor stewardship: Cultivate and nurture relationships with major donors, prospects, and strategic allies through outreach, events, and personal engagement.
  • Support the development team: Advise the executive team and fundraising staff on donor relationship-building strategies, including pitch creation, stewardship plans, and tailored proposals.
  • Ambassadorial role: Serve as a respected public spokesperson to amplify project narratives at high-level donor and partner convenings.
  • Performance monitoring: Track fundraising targets and ROI, proposing adjustments to strategy and tactics as needed.

3. Aid External Partnerships & Advocacy

  • Networking: Leverage personal and professional networks to introduce new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Coalition-building: Foster relationships with peers across NGOs, government bodies, academia, and private sector to unlock funding synergies.
  • Advocacy: Champion Heal Earth’s mission and fundraising agenda through high-profile platforms, conferences, and media outreach.

4. Board Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborative leadership: Work alongside fellow trustees and senior staff to ensure board cohesion and mission alignment.
  • Committee participation: Chair or co‑chair the fundraising (or development) committee, facilitating regular meetings, goal reviews, and strategy sessions.
  • Accountability & reporting: Provide transparent reporting on fundraising performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Desired Profile & Experience

Area Requirements

– Minimum 3 years in senior fundraising roles (non-profit, NGO, philanthropic foundations, or social enterprise)

Experience
– Successful track record with cultivating and securing fundraising  from individuals, institutions, corporate supporters, and government grants

Skills

– Strong strategic insight and ability to think long-term
 – Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills
 – Proven ability to represent an organization at high-profile events

Governance

– Prior board-level or trustee experience with sound understanding of non-profit governance best practices

Personal Attributes

– Passionate about environmental restoration, sustainability, and social impact

– High ethical standards, integrity, and transparency
– Excellent collaborator with a flexible, team-first mindset

Time Commitment & Logistics

  • Board meetings: Attend quarterly board meetings (typically 2–4 hours each, virtually or in-person).
  • Committee involvement: Participate in bi-monthly fundraising/development committee meetings.
  • Donor engagement: Allocate time for direct fundraising, outreach, and stewardship activities—estimate 3–5 hours per month.

Why Join Heal Earth Alliance?

  • Be part of a bold British and  global movement that nurtures ecosystems, communities, and equity.
  • Shape the strategic evolution of a collaborative, cutting-edge alliance.
