Job Overview

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the Society’s communications strategy to enhance its visibility, influence, and engagement with key audiences. The role ensures that the Society’s voice is clear, consistent, inclusive, and aligned with its strategic aims across all channels—web, social media, email, press, and publications. The role combines planning and budgeting with hands-on communications activity.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

• Develop and implement an annual communications plan to support the Society’s strategic objectives, including member communication and marketing of the Society’s activities events and programmes.
• Work with the CEO, senior staff and officers to shape key messages and deliver campaigns that enhance the Society’s visibility and reputation.

Digital and Print Content

• Manage the Society’s website, ensuring it is current, accessible, user-friendly, and engaging.
• Oversee the production and distribution of newsletters, bulletins, blogs, and reports.
• Write, edit, and commission content for various audiences, including members, academics, policymakers, students, and the general public.

Social Media and Brand Management

• Manage the Society’s presence on social media (e.g. X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube), creating engaging and timely content.
• Develop multimedia content (videos, infographics, animations) as needed.

Media and Public Relations

• Monitor performance against income and other targets and report regularly to the Chief Executive and Board.
• Prepare briefings, proposals and reports for Board and committee meetings.

Internal Support

• Provide communications advice and support to staff colleagues and committees across the organisation.
• Collaborate with staff colleagues to ensure clear and effective promotion of RES activities and outputs.
• Develop communication toolkits, templates, and training to support wider staff and volunteer contributions.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

1. Significant experience in a communications role, ideally within a professional body, academic institution, or non-profit organisation.
2. Excellent written and editorial skills, with the ability to produce compelling, accurate, and audience-appropriate content across different formats and channels.
3. Strong skills in managing digital platforms, including websites (e.g. WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp), and social media (e.g. LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube).
4. Proven ability to develop and implement communication plans, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
5. Experience in applying and maintaining brand identity across a wide range of communications outputs.
6. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including experience working with internal teams, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.

This role plays a key part in the delivery of Operation Smile UK’s retention programme, generating income and retaining existing cash and regular giving donors. The Giving Engagement Officer (Retention) will support the Giving Engagement Manager to implement multi-channel (mail, telemarketing, web and email) donor retention campaigns, ensuring timely delivery, creative accuracy, and effective stakeholder coordination.

You will be responsible for managing campaign schedules, supporting the creative and data processes, and ensuring delivery partners are aligned. Key Responsibilities

Campaign Delivery & Coordination

· Deliver cultivation and retention campaigns, setting up and developing schedules in Asana and coordinating all required stakeholders.

· Manage timelines to ensure all activity is delivered on time and to plan.

· Compile campaign costs and track expenditure against budgets, flagging issues as they arise.

Creative, Data & Fulfilment Management

• Develop campaign briefs for creative, data output, print and fulfilment for review by internal teams and suppliers.
• Manage the creative sign-off process: collate feedback from stakeholders and ensure briefing accuracy to suppliers.
• Proof all campaign materials to maintain brand integrity and accuracy.

Digital & Email Communications

• Support the development of donor emails in line with agreed campaign structures.
• Coordinate the production and scheduling of email content in collaboration with the communications and data and tech team.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Compile campaign results for analysis and provide reports to inform future activity.
• Work closely with data teams to ensure appropriate segmentation and tracking.

Donor Stewardship

• Support the thank-you process, including personalising and developing donor thank-you cards as required.
• Contribute to improving supporter journeys and experiences through campaign touchpoints, especially for regular givers.

Job Title: Senior Grant-making Officer

About the Role

Grant-making is central to GiveOut’s mission of growing giving to support LGBTQI human rights activism globally. CSAN is the official agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice affecting people in England and Wales. We’re facing a steep rise in poverty and significant pressures on social, economic and church resources. At this time, the Church is called to raise a prophetic voice against poverty and the rhetoric of division and work for the building of a more just society.

In 2021, CSAN launched its strategy to extend the social mission of the Church in a post-COVID society. We are developing the infrastructure of the social action network of the Church in England and Wales, including new alliances for diocesan Caritas agencies, advocacy and migration. As our Senior Officer for Migration, you will help to raise awareness of migration issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching and lead on our Ambassadors Programme against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, as well as prepare briefings and campaign responses to Government legislation.

Over the last 20 years, CSAN has established a network of 50 diocesan and direct service charities, with a combined annual expenditure on social mission estimated at £400m, excluding the work of schools and religious congregations. Our members build up local community life in diverse ways, and many of them support individuals in difficulty, including with housing, prison and detention, social isolation, ill-health, violence, disability, employment, care, therapeutic and welfare support.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Migration Officer are:

1. To provide timely information to the CSAN team and the network on UK Government resettlement programmes and legislation on immigration.

2. To support CSAN’s work to improve public policy and practice on immigration, with compelling evidence from our network, and enabling effective participation in advocacy for a humane system.

3. To work closely with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on issues of migration and human trafficking.

4. To lead the implementation of the Gubay-

2. About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic, innovative and proactive Communications and Marketing Lead to drive forward Save the Rhino’s communications across all touch points, delivering our ambitious five-year strategy. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this role is key to shaping our public voice, strengthening our organisation’s brand and driving greater awareness and engagement with rhino conservation.

This is a broad and influential role for an experienced communications and marketing professional to amplify our core conservation messaging alongside our fundraising campaigns. You will bring clear tactical vision and a deep understanding of how targeted communications can advance organisational reputation, support conservation goals and engage diverse audiences.

You’ll oversee all aspects of external communications including messaging, media, PR, digital, campaigns and brand. With a talent for storytelling and an eye for detail, you’ll be confident and experienced in turning complex information into accessible, compelling content. From writing press releases on the latest rhino news, to supporting successful fundraising campaigns, this role is ideal for someone who excels in strategic thinking as well as hands-on delivery. You will work closely with colleagues across departments as well as external agencies, building strong relationships and ensuring our messaging is clear, consistent and aligned with our values.

3. Key Responsibilities

Communications

• Lead on the development and implementation of all communications messaging and materials, in line with organisational core values and strategic vision
• Support creation and production of advocacy materials relating to key rhino conservation issues as appropriate
• Work with the Programmes Team to produce materials for impact reporting including blogs and articles for use online and within the charity’s Annual Report
• Develop a programme of regular webinars with the CEO, addressing timely and interesting rhino topics to engage and grow Save the Rhino’s online audience
• Prepare and create content Save the Rhino’s annual magazine, The Horn
• Monitor and report on key metrics across all communications channels and content, using data insights to support and/or adapt future plans

Media

• Prepare press communications plans around key events and rhino news, using core narratives and accessible language across diverse audiences and channels
• Create and implement crisis communication plans, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to reputational risks or urgent events

Brand

• Work with the CEO and the Communications and Marketing Team to produce materials to communicate new organisational strategy
• Ensure all Save the Rhino communications material maintains a consistent brand and house style, managing and updating brand guidelines and templates, for use by the internal team and external partners

Marketing

• Manage all aspects of Save the Rhino’s website (WordPress), including general updates to content, SEO, e-commerce integrations and user experience development, supported by an external web agency
• Lead the Marketing and Communications Team to work in partnership with the Fundraising Team on the development of regular fundraising material and appeals, reviewing messaging, audience segmentation and asset creation
• Oversee all email and social media marketing, with a particular emphasis on video content for social channels to grow platforms and engage new audiences
• Oversee Save the Rhino’s Marketing Cloud software, leading on data segmentation, fundraising supporter journey development, and strategic audience development, tailoring content to deepen engagement

Operations and governance

• Line management, supporting day-to-day tasks and career development
• Develop and deliver on organisational-wide strategy and management duties, as part of the Senior Management Team, preparing quarterly updates for the Board
• Lead periodic reviews of the communications and marketing strategy, using data insights to refine approaches
• Manage the marketing and communications budget, tracking income and expenditure and creating annual budgets in line with strategic objectives

Communications

• Demonstrated success in developing and delivering impactful communications and marketing strategies across a range of channels, using storytelling to present complex or technical information in a clear and engaging way
• Expertise in inclusive, accessible, and ethical communications practices, ensuring content is respectful, representative, and effectively engages diverse audiences

Media

• Experience preparing and delivering strategic press and crisis communication plans, crafting clear, audience-tailored messaging to promote organisational and values with media

Brand

• Strong experience in brand management, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across digital, print, and PR materials

Marketing

• Proven ability to manage engaging digital content, including social media, video, blogs, and email campaigns, with experiences in email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and CMS tools
• Good design sense and visual communication skills to elevate content with audiences
• Confident in using data and performance metrics to inform decisions and improve outcomes
• Innovative and creative approach, with awareness of current trends in digital marketing, media and the charity communications landscape

Operations and governance

• Experience managing budgets and preparing reports for senior leadership or trustees
• Experience leading and supporting team members, including setting objectives and fostering professional development
• A collaborative and approachable working style, with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external teams
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences and platforms

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience working within the charity or non-profit sector
• Familiarity with crisis communications, including securing media coverage or managing sensitive press engagement
• Experience in impact reporting and communicating metrics to measure technical progress
• Understanding of environmental or conservation-related communications
• Knowledge of data protection regulations (such as GDPR) and ethical marketing principles
• Experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud

Your main focus will be acquiring new supporters through digital channels — planning and delivering high-performing campaigns across paid social, PPC, email and more. You’ll also lead on developing and testing new digital fundraising products that inspire one-off and regular giving.

You might be working in digital fundraising, marketing, or performance-based acquisition. You’ll have experience running digital campaigns, analysing results, and using insight to drive improvements. You’ll also be a creative thinker who’s excited to try new approaches and help us grow.

This is a hands-on role that will also help influence strategy. You’ll work within the Individual Giving and Legacies team, but work closely with colleagues across Brand, Content, Digital and Data, and with external partners and agencies.
