Job Title: Research and Impact Lead

Job Summary
The Research and Impact Lead role brings scope for collaboration and creativity working closely with BookTrust colleagues, our partners and families, as part of a team of research and impact specialists. In this role we are looking for an experienced and motivated mixed methods researcher and evaluator, with excellent partnership, collaboration and communication skills. The role is likely to suit someone with experience of taking overall accountability for delivery of research and evaluation projects. We are seeking candidates with previous experience of place-based learning and evaluation or strong skills that would be transferable to this context, alongside a strong interest in developing expertise in place-based learning and evaluation.
We will provide excellent opportunities for the postholder to further develop their research, leadership and partnership skills in support of a fast changing, purpose driven national charity. We offer a flexible and supportive working environment and provide on-the-job learning and formal training.

About the capital project
The Playhouse Capital Development project is progressing through RIBA stage 3 with a design freeze now implemented. Work will continue to bring together a final stage 3 report which will give clear costings and timeframes for the project, before submitting a formal planning application at the end of October 2025. We anticipate that following this we will seek final approval to progress to RIBA stage 4 and commit to a start date for mid 2027 and a schedule of works that will see the project completed before 2029.
About this role
This part time (average 3 days per week) fixed term role has been created to work cross organisation and to work collaboratively with a new-look Development team to secure additional funding to realise this transformational capital project.
The person will play a pivotal role in our capital fundraising campaign, delivering the fundraising strategy behind this transformative initiative. This is a key role in fulfilling CEASE’s aim to drive legislative reform that strengthens accountability, scrutiny and regulation of all parts of the commercial sex industry and other vested commercial interests, which are driving sexual violence, abuse and exploitation. It is about holding the UK government accountable in its duty to protect citizens from high-harm industries, appealing to robust evidence, survivor testimony and a careful critical analysis of the ideological justifications that uphold it.
The work crosses multiple different areas, from policing, online safety and child protection to violence against women and girls (VAWG). It involves close collaboration with experts and partner organisations through strategic partnerships and coalitions, and the building of trusted relationships with MPs, Peers, civil servants and other decision-makers.
This role sits within the Activism strand of CEASE’s strategy, alongside media outreach and commercial advocacy, and works closely with the Chief Executive and Strategic Director
Main Duties and Responsibilities
A. Strategic Leadership

What you'll be doing:
Join our mission to support community and environmental projects that make a real difference. The Veolia Environmental Trust is an independent grant-making charity that distributes Landfill Communities Fund monies across England.
As a dedicated Grants Officer, you'll join our small, dynamic team in an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting environmental initiatives across the country while developing your career in the grants and charitable sector.
Reporting to the Head of Grants, you'll work with a diverse range of stakeholders including applicants, beneficiaries, regulators, and sector peers.

Manage the full grants lifecycle of projects from application to completion, including compliance monitoring and occasional site visits

Manage grant claims, including checking evidence of expenditure and project budgets

Deliver excellent customer service through professional handling of enquiries

Build positive relationships with applicants, providing guidance and support throughout the application and live grants processes

Process and evaluate funding applications, ensuring fair and thorough assessment against our criteria

Assist with Board meeting arrangements, minute taking and other administrative duties

Support Trustee meetings and contribute to strategic discussions about our funding priorities

Help develop communications materials and guidance to support potential applicants

Meet your Manager
In this role you will be managed by Camilla Fitzgerald. Camilla joined ClientEarth in 2022 and is part of ClientEarth’s fundraising team, working hard to grow our supporter community and brand awareness while stewarding supporters, both in the UK and internationally. She focuses on corporate and philanthropic giving, with a particular focus on unrestricted income to help secure long-term financial stability for the organisation. Before joining ClientEarth, Camilla was Director of Development at Walkabout Foundation, where she built and implemented their 5 year fundraising strategy. Camilla started her career in Events Management, having learnt first at The Institute of Masters of Wine, and then solidifying her experience in fundraising at Brooke and then charity: water UK. Camilla went to school at the French Lycee Charles de Gaulle in London and completed her degree in History of Art at Oxford Brookes University.
Main Duties
- Lead on the project management, design, content creation and publishing of communications for the Philanthropy team (including impact report and newsletters) and work with translators to ensure communications are produced in other key ClientEarth languages
- Lead on the development of bespoke reporting for six and seven figure restricted and unrestricted gifts to produce high-quality, compelling reports tailored in style and content to suit a range of audiences in different geographies
- Work closely with the Philanthropy team to ensure gold standard stewardship for ClientEarth’s philanthropy donors: driving creative, unique and inspiring ideas for tailored stewardship touchpoints throughout the year;
- Partner with the Design Manager to deliver visually compelling reports and original donor stewardship touchpoints tailored to the Philanthropy portfolio;

- Experience of writing, coordinating and submitting successful funding proposals and reports for both short- and long-term projects
- Experience of providing first-class stewardship or excellent customer service, including designing donor journeys across multiple formats and knowledge of the donor life-cycle

- Ability to interpret varied and complex information and reframe in a clear, concise and persuasive way

- Confident at leading turnaround and financial sustainability work - experienced in budgeting, forecasting and making difficult decisions when needed.
