Interim Facilities & Office Manager
3–6 month contract
3 Day a week in North London Office
A well-known purpose-led organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Facilities & Office Manager to provide operational stability and leadership during a period of transition.
This organisation operates a vibrant, multi-use office environment that serves as both a workplace and an active hub for collaboration, events and campaigning. The successful candidate will ensure the office continues to run smoothly while supporting the existing facilities team and helping shape the future structure of the function.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone comfortable operating in a fast-paced, values-driven environment where no two days are quite the same.
Key responsibilities include:

Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy and dynamic office environment, ensuring facilities, maintenance and workplace services run effectively.

Acting as the senior point of escalation for complex facilities issues and operational challenges.

Managing and coordinating external contractors and service providers, ensuring high standards of delivery.

Providing technical guidance and mentorship to the Office & Facilities team, supporting junior team members and apprentices in their day-to-day responsibilities.

Ensuring the workplace remains safe, compliant and well-managed, with oversight of health & safety and building operations.

Undertaking a review of current facilities processes and team structures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and future-proof the function.

Producing a strategic recommendation on the long-term structure of the facilities team.
The ideal candidate will bring:

Significant experience in Facilities or Office Management within complex or high-usage environments.

Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and facilities compliance.

Experience managing contractors and service providers within values-led organisations.

The ability to remain calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused in a dynamic workplace.

A collaborative leadership style, with experience supporting and developing junior team members.

Job Title: Facilities Manager
Hours: 35 hours, Full time
Location: Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, N4 2DR
Salary: £52,240 per annum

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our London office, supporting approximately 90 colleagues while ensuring an excellent experience for visitors. This pivotal role is responsible for maintaining a safe, compliant, efficient, and productive workplace environment.
As this is a brand-new position at ISHA, we are looking for someone who can quickly get up to speed, assess our current facilities management approach, and develop a robust forward looking strategy that reflects best practice for an organisation of our size. The successful candidate will lead on building safety compliance, workplace adjustments, maintenance, contractor management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement of our office standards.
You will also play a key role in designing and delivering an office improvement programme aimed at modernising and refreshing our workspace—creating a welcoming, energising, and professional environment for colleagues, residents, and visitors.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee the general upkeep and maintenance of the office premises, ensuring all systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing, etc.) operate effectively.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules as well as reactive repairs.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective service delivery.
- Collate, analyse, and present monthly reports, including key performance indicator (KPI) information.
- Ensure adherence to ISHA’s health and safety policies and procedures, acting as a key member of ISHA’s Health & Safety Forum.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in facilities management, ideally within a similar organisational setting.
- Qualified with a relevant facilities management certification.
- Confident in managing contractors, service contracts, and supplier relationships.
- Able to prioritise a varied workload and respond calmly and efficiently to urgent issues.
- Skilled in building strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation.

The Facilities and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, safety and regulatory compliance of all charity facilities. This role ensures that buildings, systems and operations meet legal standards and support a safe and productive work environment.
Facilities Management
- Manage maintenance, repairs and upgrades across all sites.
- Oversee supplier relationships and service contracts.
- Implement sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure physical and digital security systems are effective.
Compliance Oversight
- Develop and maintain compliance programmes aligned with UK regulations.
- Conduct audits and inspections; maintain documentation.

Health and Safety

Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Compliance or a related field or equivalent experience. Proven experience in facilities and compliance roles. Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental regulations. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Proficiency in facilities and compliance management software. You will be supported for certifications including NEBOSH, ISO, CISI
