The Opportunity

The Board of Trustees is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead Llys Nini into the next phase of its development. This is an unique opportunity to make a lasting difference for animals, people, and the environment across South Wales.

Job purpose Summary:

To be the organisation’s lead professional, leading on strategy development and delivering the objectives of the Charity. To lead, manage and develop the staff teams in order to meet the organisation’s strategic objectives and ensure its sustainability.

Accountable to the Board of Trustees and acting as the interface between employees, volunteers, and other partners with the shared aim of delivering upon the Branch’s charitable objectives.

Main responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

• Provide vision, leadership, direction and management in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, employees, RSPCA, and relevant stakeholders.
• Lead on strategy development, business planning and financial planning in partnership with the Board of Trustees and Finance Manager.
• Develop and monitor strategies and policies to ensure the long term viability of the organisation, including care and maintenance of the land and buildings.

2. Governance

• Support the Board of Trustees in the responsibilities to ensure robust governance structures.
• Alongside the board, taking responsibility for the legal obligations of the organisations in accordance with the RSPCA and Charity Commission rules.

3. Financial & Resource management

• Develop a funding strategy that explores implements and maintains short- and long-term funding options.
• Develop appropriate partnerships with other local charities and organisations.
• Working with the Finance Manager, preparation and oversight of resources and investments.
• Identify and manage risks within the organisation, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.

4. Partnership relationships and management

• Build strong and strategic relationships and alliances with the RSPCA and local organisations within the community.

5. Operation Management

• Provide value driven leadership, support and professional development across the organisation, including performance review processes.
• Monitor and review the organisational structure, performance and quality of the services provided to the public in all areas.
• Ensure all policies are up to date and relevant.
• Acting as on the safeguarding leads for the Charity, manage the concerns from staff, customers and visitors, in line with the policy and procedures.
• Promote the importance of the Welsh Language and culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and acting as a role model for the inclusive values of the Branch.

6. People Management

• Effectively line manage the senior staff.
• Encourage a culture and ethos of consultative and collaborative working throughout the organisation.
• Position the Branch as an employer of choice.
• Maintain effective relationship with Trustees.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong organisational and administrative skills. Experience in housing, property, or compliance is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate repairs, maintenance tasks, and compliance checks
• Maintain accurate compliance records

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority (MRWA) is seeking the services of a Community Engagement and Reuse Officer to deliver the annual Zero Waste Community Fund programme and to take a lead in developing a reuse culture within Liverpool City Region (LCR).

Reporting directly to the Strategy and Development Manager, the successful postholder will be an enthusiastic individual who will play a key role in engaging with community organisations across the Liverpool City Region (LCR) to drive meaningful behavioural change.

You will be just as passionate as you are dynamic, empowering local communities whilst exploring reuse opportunities to help LCR achieve its aim of zero avoidable waste by 2040. You will be detail-orientated, adept in project management, administrative and organisational duties.

About MRWA

MRWA is a strategic waste and resource management authority, leading on the recycling and management of municipal waste across LCR.

Along with its private sector partners, MRWA manages waste resources, recycling and the transportation of waste on behalf of six district councils across LCR including Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

With a focus on reducing consumption, reusing more and recycling accepted materials in the right manner, the Authority delivers various behavioural change initiatives for residents and organisations across LCR, and this is reflected in its Vision (2025):

“To lead the way towards zero waste across the Liverpool City Region.”

Currently, the Authority serves more than 1.5 million people, providing 16 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across LCR, as part of its contract with Veolia UK. The local HWRCs allow householders to recycle more than 40 different materials. MRWA also manages the processing of the co-mingled recycling collected at kerbside by five of the six district councils, which is sorted via its two Materials Recovery Facilities.

Wintercomfort is a small Cambridge charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or at risk of losing their homes. We offer basic welfare amenities, educational development, pathways to employment and other services to help people achieve greater autonomy, in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

Role Summary

As a member of Wintercomfort’s Team, reporting to the Services Manager the Day Centre Team Leader role is responsible for supervising the weekend locum team, delivering welfare services over the weekend, developing and delivering Wintercomfort’s range of welfare services and social, learning, and work opportunities aimed at supporting individuals out of the spiral of homelessness and back into mainstream society.

Purpose of the job

Our Project Workers are front line team members responsible for helping Wintercomfort to meet its objectives of supporting the homeless and vulnerably housed in Cambridge to make positive changes in their lives.

The role holder will play a vital part in delivering a broad range of services predominantly based at our centre, Overstream House, with some outreach work within the community. Tasks range from helping people who are sleeping rough to access our drop-in welfare service and access one-to-one key-working sessions with an assigned Project Worker. This is a varied, challenging and incredibly rewarding role working with some of the most vulnerable people in the community to change their lives for the better.

Key Responsibilities

• To be a member of the project worker team at the day centre providing a welcoming and safe environment in which welfare and learning and development services can be delivered.
• To be responsible for running the service at weekends and be a team leader to the Locums and weekend team.
• Be responsible for co-ordinating day to day tasks during opening hours and, as a member of the staff team, to deal with any breaches of policy or of the code of conduct.
• To support the delivery of Wintercomfort’s welfare service overseeing access to essential facilities such as meals, showers and laundry services at our centre.
• To provide one-to-one support with issues such as benefits claims, access to IT and support with online services and work with other professionals identifying individuals who require specific support in areas such as Housing, Recovery, Social Inclusion, Tenancy Support and Employment.
• To have line management responsibility for the Locum Weekend Team and to ensure that any safeguarding concerns are reported to the Services Manager.
• To provide occasional cover of the reception area, welcoming visitors to the centre.
• To ensure that accurate records are recorded during Wintercomfort’s activity time.
• To ensure any necessary referrals and signposting is offered/ conducted with Service Users.
