BloodForce
We work in Ghana to eliminate the burden of blood acquisition on providers and patients in crisis by leveraging technology to galvanize the public to increase Ghana’s Blood Collection Index to greater than 10 by 2030, because no patient in crisis should die from unavailability of blood products.
Ghana at 5.6 per 1000 population, is significantly behind WHO minimum standard [10 per 1,000 population] required to meet a country’s basic transfusion needs. As a result, restrictive blood disbursement policies have resulted in delayed care for critical patients in Ghana and in many cases, avoidable deaths.
We believe that public communities can be mobilized to close gaps in health care delivery, particularly in developing countries. BloodForce plans to build an online blood donor community that can reliably and meaningfully increase blood donation rates in Ghana while helping patients and families navigate their blood product health crises. This community will also serve as a platform for advocacy and education, strengthening transfusion services across the country.

The Community Support/Reach Out volunteer will be volunteering remotely, providing online support and guidance to visitors of The Forward Trust Website communicating in real time using web chat.
The Reach Out Service sits within our Recovery Support Department and is aimed at offering friendly and confidential listening support and assistance. The role involves utilising your communication skills to establish rapport with individuals seeking drug and alcohol help and or to talk about their mental health or other varied life challenges. You will be supporting people who are seeking help for drugs and alcohol help for themselves or from family members concerned for their loved one.
Training is provided to all volunteers to support them with their volunteering role and enable them to further their skills and experience with our client group.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Time Commitment: We recommend that volunteers can commit to an average of 3 hours online per week for a minimum period of six months.
Service Delivery
- Be available for the duration of the shift to answer web-chat/calls as they happen.
- Engage with individuals in a friendly and empathetic manner.
- Gain an understanding of the individual needs and sign post to appropriate organisations for further support or explore specialist services as required.
- Link individuals into Forward Trusts community drug and alcohol services when required and link individuals into drug and alcohol help in other geographical areas where Forward Trust does not have a service.
- Report any Safeguarding concerns to shift supervisor and follow safeguarding procedures as appropriate.
- Respond to offline messages at the beginning of each shift.
- Debrief with and ask for support and guidance from Reach Out Coordinator regarding any concerns arising from web chat conversations.
- Provide handover to supervisor and/or next volunteers covering the shift prior to logging off
- To book shifts in a timely fashion and inform the Reach Out Coordinator of any need to cancel a shift at the earliest opportunity.
- Engage with support and supervision offered by placement supervisor.

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles and fundraisers.
One of the key ways we help people is by tapping into various sources of funding on their behalf. Monitoring and reconciling this flow of funding into and out of SSAFA accounts is important to ensure clients receive timely support and we are able to account for all charitable funds in our care.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. This flexible role involves using our on-line financial management system and on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best. You will need to attend a number of branch committee meetings each year.

- Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions
- Supporting divisions to manage their local finances.
- Making and recording all authorised payments
- Preparing year end accounts and financial statements including arranging an independent review

- Identify and manage the return of any surplus monies from grants as appropriate.

Join the leading national charity dedicated to supporting premature and sick babies, their families and NHS staff. We are recruiting for up to four new Trustees to join Bliss’ passionate and dedicated Board.
Who are we looking for?
We are recruiting up to four new Trustees to join our passionate and dedicated Board, and are keen to increase the range of voices on the Board to bring in different experiences and skills, which is essential if we are to make the best decisions for Bliss and for the babies we serve.
You don’t need to have been a Trustee before, nor do you need to have direct neonatal experience, as long as you are passionate about improving neonatal care across the UK.
In this round of Trustee recruitment we are particularly interested in bringing the skills and experience of younger individuals (under 30), those from minority ethnic communities, and those with lived experience of or insight into socio-economic disadvantage.
We are also keen to hear from people who bring one (or more!) of the following:
- Experience of AI and data, with the ability to apply this to an organisation of Bliss’ size and scale
- Experience of marketing or branding, and the knowledge of how this applies in the context of the charitable sector
- A neonatal healthcare professional – we are particularly interested in recruiting an allied health professional / psychology professional
- A professionally qualified accountant.

Position Overview:
The National Tremor Foundation is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Board of Trustees
Trustees provide strategic leadership and governance, ensuring that the Foundation fulfils its mission and objectives while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of people living with all kinds of neurological tremors.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Chairperson and other trustees to provide strategic direction and oversee the implementation of the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values.

Governance and Oversight: Ensure that the Foundation complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of governance. This includes financial oversight and reviewing organisational performance.

Fundraising and Advocacy: Support fundraising efforts by leveraging personal networks, helping raise the Foundation’s profile, and engaging with key stakeholders. Advocate for the needs of people living with all kinds of neurological tremor.

Policy and Program Development: Contribute to the development and review of policies and programs that meet the needs of those living with neurological tremors and their families and care giver.

Risk Management: Ensure that the Foundation is effectively managing risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.

Collaboration and Support: Engage with staff, volunteers, and the community to support the delivery of services and activities.
Skills and Experience:

Experience in Governance: Previous experience in a trustee or non-profit governance role is highly desirable, although not essential.

Commitment to the Mission: A passion for improving the lives of individuals living with neurological tremors and a commitment to the mission of the National Tremor Foundation.

Skills in Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. The ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Financial Acumen: Experience with financial oversight and the ability to understand budgets and financial statements.

Fundraising or Advocacy Experience: Experience in fundraising, marketing, or advocacy would be beneficial but is not essential.

Personal Qualities: A collaborative and solution-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, and empathy for those affected by tremor conditions.

Medical Knowledge: Having a medical background would be advantageous for this role, especially someone that is aware of the current care pathways and treatment options for neurological tremors.
Time Commitment:
Trustees are expected to attend at least four Board meetings per year (approximately 2 hours each), plus additional time for fundraising activities and events. Trustees will also be required to attend our annual conference and other ad-hoc meetings as necessary. Trustees are also expected to take on a portfolio lead and provide support to the General Manager to deliver on this.
Term:
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment for a further term.

We are looking for a Campaigns Volunteer to raise awareness and campaign so that decision-makers know about and can address the needs of everyone affected by MND.

What is campaigning?
These are some of the things you could do as a Campaigns Volunteer! Our team will be here to support you in whatever you’re doing.
- Sharing the MND Association’s campaigns on social media.
- Contacting local councillors to improve services for people living with and affected by MND in your area.
- Talking to MPs and other decision-makers about what MND is and why it’s important that people have access to high quality health and care services.
- Working with MND Association staff to identify issues and gather evidence for campaigns.
- Help to change laws to improve the lives of people living with and affected by MND.
This role will suit you if:

- You’re interested in learning and improving your campaigning skills.
- You’re a good communicator. No matter where your interest lies, be it writing e-mails or talking to people, sharing stories or providing us with feedback, you have so much to offer!

- Willing to work autonomously but also link up with others when needed.

Under the direction of the Volunteer Officer there are several tasks that are carried out:
· Help to keep the office organised and running smoothly
· Assist in daily office tasks (i.e. filing, handling and managing data)
· Help out in other working areas, such as marketing, events and fundraising
Key elements
After relevant training has been provided:
· Working with other administrative staff
· Making and receiving phone calls
· Data entry, filing, typing and general office duties
· There may be occasions where you have the opportunity to get involved in other areas, including attending events or other activities
· To liaise with other departments/volunteers as and when necessary and provide additional admin support where appropriate
· Where applicable assist with the handling of both incoming/outgoing mail
