You will be responsible for supporting young people aged 14-25 years, enabling them to access a range of social, emotional, and practical support as they navigate the complex and challenging processes of the UK asylum system.You will help us run activities for young people at our advice hub on Wednesday evenings in Brent and run our youth group on Thursday evenings in Brent n as well as our sporting activities and trips.

You will work closely with our Brent Youth Development Coordinator. You will need to be able to work under pressure, acting as a consistent and stable point of contact for young people, ensuring that their safety and well-being are paramount.

About you

· Demonstrable experience in supporting vulnerable young people in a similar role, particularly through youth activities in 1;1 and/or group settings, or befriending/mentoring 

· Good knowledge of the UK asylum system and the related challenges facing young refugees and asylum-seekers in contingency accommodation

· Working knowledge of child protection issues and safeguarding processes

• Available after school, early evening, and school holidays.
• Attend after school club sessions periodically to understand the needs of participants and support participation in the wider circus programme, currently Wednesday evenings 10 weeks per term.
• Attend taster sessions for youth groups to understand the needs of participants and support participation in the wider circus programme, usually afternoon sessions during half term or summer holidays.
• Have a supportive and encouraging attitude, to inspire trust and good communication with young people and families.
• Identify needs of young people and support those needs to minimise barriers to participation in the circus programme.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to young people as they navigate challenges and pursue their goals within the programme.
• Support young people directly with travel to and from sessions at local circus school using bus, taxi, or with volunteer drivers. Usually early evenings.
• Support young people with additional behavioural needs during sessions this may involve attending after school session more frequently.
• Work closely with colleagues from Invisible Palace and partner organisations to support good and clear communication for the benefit of young people taking part in activities.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS will be undertaken for successful candidate.

Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 pro rated, equivalent to band 6/7 depending on experience

Part time - 30 hrs per week, Mon - Fri

About the role:

We’re looking for a Families and Carers Lead to contribute to the strategic objective of developing our support for carers and families.  Working in collaboration with the Bereavement & Spiritual Care Team and Compassionate Neighbours, to develop and expand pre-bereavement and bereavement support.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and grow our service delivery working with an experienced team in a multi-disciplinary environment and develop and deliver innovative programmes.

About you:

You will have experience of frontline service delivery in a similar area and ideally will have a current or previous relevant professional qualification in counselling, social work, clinical background or relevant lived experience. 

Ability to communicate effectively and be well organised and computer literate.  Experience of managing people and mitigating risk, as well as the aptitude to manage allocated resource. Knowledge of legislation and understanding of national policy within the context of public health and end of life care.

You’ll feel comfortable liaising with a variety of people in a compassionate and considered manner. Ideally, you’ll have previous administration or secretarial experience and you’re looking for a role where you can add value and make a significant contribution to the lives of others.

These two new posts will be responsible for supporting the successful initiation, deployment and development of our early intervention and prevention service for autistic and neurodiverse young people and their families across the whole charity.

Key Accountabilities

To work with all the charity’s projects with a focus on providing support to Autistic and Neurodiverse children and young people so that:

a) the local community significantly benefits from a new specialised and responsive frontline service offering high quality advice and intervention

b) you enhance local resources that better wraparound the needs of the autistic community

c) you help build a sustainable model of delivery that directly addresses Autism
