East Sussex Hearing, an independent countywide charity based in Eastbourne, has dedicated over two decades to serving the deaf and hard of hearing community across East Sussex. Our mission is to empower individuals with advice and practical support, enabling them to lead vibrant, active lives and be integral members of their community.

The heart of our efforts lies in the events we organise, acting as lifelines to generate crucial income. This income supports and enhances the services we provide for the benefit of the hard of hearing and deaf community. Now, we are on the lookout for a passionate Event Volunteer to join our cause on a voluntary basis

What you'll be doing
As an Event Volunteer, your role is diverse and impactful. From setting up our Gazebo and displaying banners to selling merchandise and collecting donations at events, your contribution makes a significant difference. Picture yourself engaging with the locals in Eastbourne town centre, sharing information about our upcoming events, or manning stalls at community gatherings like the Festival of Transport, an annual weekend event near Hailsham. You could be handing out flyers, offering advice, or simply fostering conversations about our invaluable services.

Our events are scattered throughout the year across East Sussex, with exciting plans for more in 2024! Whether you can commit to helping with one or two events annually or wish to make a more regular commitment. If you are seeking
a hands-on role that lets you support East Sussex Hearing while having a good time, helping at our events is the perfect opportunity! Let's make a difference together, as were ‘Here to Help You Hear.’

Specific Tasks & Responsibilities
• Meet and greet members of the public
• Support the setting up and taking down stalls at events which may include gazebos
• Hand out event flyers at specific locations
• Act as a Charity ambassador by promoting the event among your friends, family and colleagues
• Distribute event materials such as leaflets in your local area
• Provide general hearing loss information and advice, including signposting to other services

Training & Support
East Sussex Hearing will provide all relevant training at their Eastbourne centre, and locally.

To apply for this role, you need to be over the age of 16. 

We are recruiting volunteers who enjoy volunteering in their community to help raise the charity’s profile at a local level. Everyone has their own community and we would love to work with people who can share their passion, interest and enthusiasm for Yes to Life with people in their communities who could benefit from our work. The role descritption provides a list of ways you can do this but we are very happy to listen to your suggestions and ideas too. The role is flexible and you can choose how many hours you dedicate to the role.

Action Village India
Action Village India (AVI) is a small, UK-based charity that fundraises for Indian NGO partners to deliver programmes that will best assist the poorest and most marginalised sections of communities in rural India. AVI supports campaigns for social justice and equality on Gandhian principles of nonviolence.

You will be working hand-in-hand with a small and very agile team in the London office and as such the internship will be a fantastic opportunity to ground yourself in the basics of charity day-to-day administration, communication and event fundraising.  

Working Information:

Location: London – Dalston Junction

Hours: 2 days per week plus attendance at WOMAD Festival 24-29th July 2024

Duration: 8-10 weeks.  Internship to start early June (negotiable) and ending in the first week of August.

Starting date: 5th June 2024

Job Purpose:
This internship will focus on developing an exhibition for WOMAD festival that highlights the work on Action Village India, and support the team during the weekend of WOMAD festival.

The biggest fundraising event we hold every year is Madras Café, held at Womad Festival at the end of July. Madras Café began its life as a Chai and leaflet stall over 30 years ago to help educate people about Action Village India and the difficulties people in rural India faced; today it is an established festival institution serving delicious Indian food to over 4000 people over three days. The Action Village India team holds a stall in the Madras Café tent selling ethical products made in India, showcasing our exhibition, and informing people about Action Village India. In the run up to the festival you will work on the development of the exhibition. During the festival you will be working with the Events Intern and staff to ensure a successful running of the stall and the exhibition. You will need to be available in the set up and weekend of the festival – 24-29th July 2024.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. WOMAD Exhibition Support

§  Attend meetings on the planning of the exhibition

§  Research into the theme of the exhibition

§  Support with preparing, designing, creating and installing the exhibition

2. Event Management

§  Support with event management as and when required

§  Work with AVI staff, trustees and volunteers at Womad Festival 24-29th July 2024

3. Office Support

• Helping with the day to day running of the office, including communication with enquirers and supporters and the online gift shop
• Assisting with the production and printing of leaflets, appeals and fundraising materials
• Assisting with the distribution of mailings; appeals, newsletter and membership
• Creating content for various social media platforms

4. General Responsibilities

Terms of Internship:
This is a voluntary position. Action Village India will cover travel expenses (from within London) to the office in Dalston and lunch costs for days worked in the office (up to £10 a day – if travel costs are higher, this can be discussed). All expenses must be itemised, and receipts provided.  The cost of your Womad ticket and travel will be covered.

QMC Capoeira School is looking for a Volunteer Sound Engineer who would love to support a community organisation undertake an international martial arts tournament and Brazilian Cultural Festival Project related work to start ASAP and finish mid – late November.

QMC Capoeira is a martial arts school based in London that has been running since 2006, has academy in Canada and the Dominican Republic and is the most awarded Capoeira School in the UK.

The objective of the role is to:

· Assist with audio set-up for commentary station

· Mix levels both on the audio mixer and ATEM Mini so as to get the best broadcast sound possible both from commentary microphones and venue mics

· Advise on best practices to get the best possible audio for the broadcast

The ideal candidate will work in our Kingston office setting up microphones, doing sound checks and audio mixing before livestreams and monitoring and adjusting audio during livestreams.

Essential Skills and Experience:

· Experience with USB microphones

· Experience with multimic setup

· Experience with audio mixing and audio mixing software 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

· Previous broadcast, live streaming, or podcast recording experience

· Knowledge and experience of OBS and use of ATEM Mini.

QMC Capoeira is looking for a Volunteer Public Relations Assistant who would love to support an international competition in Brazilian Cultural Festival Project-related work. To start ASAP and finish mid–late November.

QMC Capoeira is a martial arts school based in London that has been running since 2006, has an academy in Canada and the Dominican Republic and is the most awarded Capoeira School in the UK.

The objective of the role is to:

• Write press releases to partners
• Manage social media content for QMC
• Create and advise QMC on its communication strategies.

· Monitor cameras during the livestream

· Manage cables and wires and areas around cameras to maintain good health and safety

The Studio Camera Assistant will play a critical role in helping to further develop the public profile of our organisation.

The ideal candidate will work in our Kingston office setting up and monitoring the cameras and lighting in the Studio during livestreams.

Essential Skills and Experience:

· Experience with DSLR/Mirrorless cameras

· Experience with professional camcorders (e.g. Sony NX100 or similar) 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

· Previous broadcast or live streaming experience

· Previous experience with multicam setup

· Experience with stabiliser rigs

· Experience and knowledge of good lighting setup, arrangements, and techniques, such as 3 point lighting, and the use of diffusers

As the Head of Family and Youth, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of activities for children, youth and families at Pride Cymru events. You will be an essential part of creating a welcoming and safe space for families to participate in Pride Cymru.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, schools, youth groups, and family support networks to enhance collaboration and outreach efforts.

• Develop new partnership opportunities and support positive partnership working

Skills and experience

During your internship, you will take the lead, in collaboration with the Communications, Fundraising and Operations Manager, of the organisation of the Action Village India information desk. This will include managing the sale of products and the managing of volunteers for the Action Village India stall. You will also assist the Exhibition intern with the production of the Exhibition which will be showcased at WOMAD.

You will also get involved in supporting other fundraising events such as our online gift shop and annual Walk for Women.

• Videos will be about Capoeira, martial arts, sports, and fitness, and an interest in any or all of these things is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in creating videos for social media, particularly for Instagram and TikTok, are also desirable.

This role is fully remote.

 Skills and attributes:

· Demonstrate experience with Adobe Premier

· Demonstrate some experience with Final Cut (not essential, but an advantage)

· Demonstrate some video production experience 

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

· Focused, organized and able to prioritize and execute tasks independently 

· Passion in martial arts is preferable, although not a must.

ABOUT THE PIONEER CLUB

Founded in 1941 for young evacuees from London during the Second World War, The Pioneer Club is a registered CIC and charity supporting communities in St Albans and beyond. With our partners, we deliver arts programmes, music and skateboarding through events, workshops, training, and classes. Whether it’s live music in our iconic music hall, lessons with our amazing team of pro skateboarders, or on the stage with our performing arts programmes, there’s something for everyone at The Pioneer!

As an historic grassroots music venue, we have witnessed some of the biggest names in music come through our doors, including Motorhead and The Zombies of “She’s Not There”. Enter Shikari are another hugely successful St Albans band who started out at The Pioneer Club, before moving on to achieve global success, including headlining Download Festival and performing at Wembley Arena.

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Taking part in extra cirricular activities is so important for children and young people. Access to skateboarding, dance, music, art and other performing arts leads to benefits such as:

-Improved self-esteem and self-control

- Decreased hyperactivity and inattention

- Reduced antisocial or criminal behaviours

- Improved prosocial behaviours, such as empathy and helping others

Sadly, funding for the youth activity is decreasing year on year. And grassroots music venues are closing at a rate of 2 per week. This affects all young people, but especially those from the least advantaged communities who, as a result, may never pick up a musical instrument or have access to art and culture.

As a charity, we couldn’t exist without the support of our volunteers. As part of the team, you will be helping us to market our events and activities and to develop and support our website, which helps us to raise the funds to keep going, and ensure that every young person has access to the arts, no mater their circumstance.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Web Design: Help us to design, build and launch our new website

Campaign Support: Contribute to the planning and execution of marketing campaigns to raise awareness and drive support for our charitable initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan and execute the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony strategy and service line:

• Cultural Events and Dialogue: Lead the creation of a flagship calendar of events designed to elevate the cultural and social quality of the community. This includes organizing a successful annual cultural festival with a diverse range of activities that celebrate and raise awareness of Afro-Hebrew heritage.

• Art and Media Collaborations: Develop and implement a series of collaborative art and media projects that involve community members, fostering racial harmony and showcasing the community's creativity and stories.

2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of thenumber of cultural events held annually; the number of attendees to cultural events; the community participation rate in art and media projects. Including social media and other statistics; and feedback and satisfaction rates from event attendees and project participants. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.

3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams: 

• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Community Engagement and Racial Harmony resources, speakers or information.

• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service.

• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service delivery.

• Marketing Outreach & Advocacy: work with this team to enhance visibility of the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service across social media, press, and community events. 

4. Governance Team Interaction: Provide regular updates and reports to the Governance, Secretariat & Performance Reporting team. Ensure programmealignment with Barawak policies, procedures, strategyand objectives. Collaborate on monitoring and evaluation efforts to assess Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service impact and effectiveness.

• Skills: Strong organisational and leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and adept at working in a collaborative environment. Eagar to learn new skills.
