Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The latest research suggests that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to 2.7 million, meaning that one in five children don’t have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, they struggle to concentrate, absorb information, and manage big emotions, causing them to fall behind in their studies.

JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Fundraising and Development (Maternity Cover) will provide strategic leadership and direction across all fundraising and income-generating activities, ensuring the charity continues to deliver against its financial objectives and accelerates long-term, sustainable growth across our philanthropic, public, and commercial income streams.
You will bring strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to equip, support, and empower the team through a period of organisational change. You will help the team optimise and make the most of the new organisational strategy, embedding strategic focus, effective decision-making, and collaborative leadership practices across the fundraising leadership group.

You will use your commercial acumen and fundraising expertise to identify opportunities and support the team to recognise, shape, and pursue them confidently and effectively, enabling them to take ownership and drive progress across all income streams. A key part of the role will be ensuring that new commercial and public sector income streams are recognised, understood, and capitalised on across the organisation, working closely with the newly established Head of Business Development to embed this focus and enable them to succeed in driving this work forward.
Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will play a crucial role in maintaining momentum, ensuring continuity, and supporting the organisation to deliver the new strategy and business plan, helping to realise opportunities, navigate challenges, and ensure long-term sustainability during this maternity cover period.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Driving income growth: establishing high-performing income pipelines across all income streams, with a strong multi-year focus, supported by robust data, reporting, and pipeline management.
• Integrating and accelerating public sector and commercial income streams: Ensuring newly integrated income areas are understood, valued and operational across the organisation.
• Embedding and executing a unified, co-owned fundraising and development strategy: Partnering with the CEO, SLT and Board to embed strategic focus, ensure integration, and alignment with organisational goals.
• Strengthening leadership, culture and team performance: Providing coaching-based leadership, direction, support and empowerment, helping the team thrive and achieve ambitious income targets across philanthropic, public sector and commercial streams.

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Officer to ensure the College meets its legal and regulatory compliance requirements as an educational establishment and a charity.  The focus of the role is to be responsible, with the support of the Training Administration team, for all reporting to regulatory bodies in a timely manner to ensure the College meets the requirements of the Office for Students (OfS), The Open University (OU), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) and other regulatory bodies. The postholder will also take on the role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) within the organisation and ensure that the college processes all personal data in compliance with UK data protection legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for reporting internal information and meeting the reporting requirements of regulatory organisations – primarily the Office for Students (OfS), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Open University (OU), the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This will be with the support of the Training Administration team and all other teams within the college.
• Collaborate with senior management and other department heads to ensure compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance relating to HR, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent, Communications and Finance.
• Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors

• Draft new and amend existing data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
• Serve as the main point of contact within the organisation for staff members, regulators, and relevant authorities on issues related to data protection, and provide advice as required.
• Maintain records of all data processing activities within the College
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
• Train and advise all staff on compliance and GDPR regulations, how to meet, maintain and improve compliance requirements and the impact of non-compliance on the College.

Key Responsibilities:

About you:

You will be an organised, confident and proactive Operations professional with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in working within the charity sector.

The Director of Operations is a member of the Senior Management Team. The overall purpose of the role is to work with colleagues across the organisation to develop and oversee effective and efficient administrative, IT, finance and operational policies, systems and services to support delivery of the foundation's strategy, while ensuring that these policies, systems and support services uphold the foundation's culture and values.

The Director of Operations also plays a key role in shaping and sustaining an inclusive, collaborative and values-driven organisational culture, ensuring that systems, processes and ways of working promote staff wellbeing, equity and learning across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide organisational leadership across core operational functions and contribute to SMT and Board decision-making to ensure effective, compliant and future-focused operations.
• Human Resources: Oversee HR strategy, policies and processes to create an inclusive, supportive and high-performing workplace.
• Digital, IT, Facilities & Infrastructure: Ensure robust, secure and efficient digital, IT, facilities and infrastructure systems that enable staff to work effectively across all locations.
• Finance: Lead and support the finance function to maintain strong financial planning, control, compliance and investment oversight.
• Governance: Maintain effective governance structures, ensure regulatory compliance and provide clear, timely information to the Board and committees.

Who we're looking for:

We're seeking a strategic and values-led leader with

• Senior experience leading core support functions, including HR, IT, organisational infrastructure, and contract and supplier management.
• Strong strategic and operational leadership skills, with the ability to translate organisational strategy into effective systems, processes and delivery.
• Experience overseeing organisational risk, compliance, data protection and safeguarding frameworks, or the ability to develop these confidently.
• Proven ability to engage constructively and authoritatively with the Board of Trustees and its committees, providing clear information, insight and challenge.
• Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience leading and developing staff teams, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and a collaborative, empowering leadership style.
• Deep understanding and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, with experience building diverse teams and fostering inclusive, trust-based cultures.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with sound financial literacy and the ability to interpret and communicate data and organisational information.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly, persuasively and with authority.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
• Commitment to the Foundation's vision, mission and values, and to working in ways that advance social justice.

Senior experience in the foundation or wider voluntary sector, ideally with insight into the needs of social justice organisations and voluntary sector infrastructure is desirable.

LEF is based near Goodge Street tube station (WC1E 7EB). You will need to be willing to attend the office at least twice a week, as well as be able to attend meetings and events across London. This is an interim role for 6 months. LEF will be recruiting for the permanent position early next year and the successful candidate will be open to apply. Candidates will need full right to work in the UK, and the role is subject to satisfactory references. The ideal start date for the candidate will be mid/late-January so you will need to be immediately available or able to start in January.
