Overseeing transactional processing, payroll, and local group accounting, while supporting the Head of Finance with management accounts and year-end audit preparation, this role is pivotal in enabling PF to deliver our mission and meet strategic objectives. 

Either full or part accounting qualifications and experience of Sage50 cloud book-keeping is preferred, as is a working knowledge of MS Office systems. Purpose of the Role

The Finance Manager leads the eoa’s finances to ensure the businesses resources are used effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.

You will develop robust financial systems, reporting, and analysis to provide insight and assurance to the SLT and Board, playing a central role in safeguarding the eoa’s financial health and enabling its strategic goals to be achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring it underpins and enables operational delivery.
• Manage the annual budget-setting process, working closely with colleagues to align budgets with strategic priorities.
• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including financial accounting, membership renewals, bank account management, cash flow monitoring, credit control, payments, and function oversight.

Knowledge, Experience, and Attributes

• Degree-level education and either ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification.
• Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and delivering accurate management accounts and financial analysis.
• Experience of working for or preparing SME accounts, managing audits, risk, and internal controls, with a focus on continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Success in this role means the eoa has reliable, efficient, and well-governed financial operations that underpin all aspects of the business. You will ensure day-to-day finance processes are accurate and timely, cash flow and budgets are effectively managed, and statutory obligations are met with confidence. By providing clear analysis and insight, you will support the SLT and Board in making informed decisions, drive improvements in systems and reporting, and enable the eoa to achieve its strategic priorities.

Day to Day Financial Management 

• Regularly review and maintain financial policies and procedures. 

• Review the monthly reconciliations carried out by the SFAO thereby ensuring all transactions are properly and efficiently recorded. 

• Oversee the management and appropriate allocation of Restricted Funds, ensuring the monies are allocated according to the donor’s wishes and ensure that records are always maintained 

• Regularly review and make recommendations for improvements to financial controls and ensuring methods are documented and made clear to staff.

• Support with funding bids and reports back to donors 

• Management of all charity bank accounts, acting as authorised signatory with Banks 

Payroll, Pensions and Tax Management 

• Supervise the payroll process carried out by SFAO 

• Responsible for the effective management Charity’s Pension Scheme

• Ensure payments to HMRC are made accurately and on time, and ensure all available allowances are claimed. 

Budget Process Management 

• Take the lead on preparing the Annual Budget, working closely with SLT to capture all spending plans Develop and run a process which is thorough, consistent and inclusive of all managers.

Governance support to FING Committee and Trustees 

• Assist the Chair of FING Committee (Treasurer)

• Prepare finance papers for Treasurer to deliver to Board of Trustees 

• Attend Board of Trustees meetings and present information as requested

• Postholder to adhere to their relevant Code of Ethics as laid down by their professional body, being mindful that adherence to the code takes precedence over charity policy and practice should a conflict ever arise. [NB Sections A + C of the current professional code are applicable.]

The role will involve the management of the day-to-day financial activities, VAT, gift aid, payroll and the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and statutory accounts preparation. The job holder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Finance Officer and volunteers within the team. There will be a requirement to work closely with the income generating staff, budget holders, auditors, banks and credit card providers on a regular basis. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance Officer and Finance volunteer.

This is a new role created in order to support and strengthen our financial capacity. The role will have day to day responsibility for all finance matters at ShelterBox and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the strength, integrity and effectiveness of financial management at ShelterBox.

The Head of Finance will be a key business partner across the business for all financial matters. Reporting to the Director of Finance, they will lead the finance function overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance and statutory accounts, as well as oversight of the work of the operational finance team and board and committee reporting. While this is a leadership and management position, the small team structure means the successful candidate will be expected to take an active, hands on role in delivering work in addition to leadership responsibilities; They will have their own suite of projects and activities to deliver, as well as leading the finance team, and working across the organisation to support other teams. Finance Assistant

Role Purpose

The Head of Finance plays a key role in supporting Good Faith's financial health, sustainability and growth. Working closely with the Operations Director and colleagues across the organisation, they provide the financial insight, systems and support that help teams make informed decisions, deliver impactful work and plan confidently for the future.

The role combines hands-on financial management with the ongoing development of financial systems, tools and processes to support Good Faith's growth and evolving needs.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

The incumbent is expected to operate effectively in a low segregation environment due to small staff size by implementing and monitoring compensating controls (spot checks, reviews with Executive Director, exception reporting) to maintain strong control integrity.

5- Information requirement for decision-making

The incumbent requires secure access to accurate financial, donor, and operational data - primarily through the MCRM and ERP systems - which is already identified and readily available and applies established analysis and reporting methods as a super-user to interpret information, ensure compliance, protect confidential constituent records, and support informed financial and operational decision-making.

The incumbent is expected to drive process improvements and functional innovations within the offices—data integrity, financial tracking, and internal collaboration—while supporting others to implement these changes, with major or high-risk innovations subject to approval by the Executive Director.

7- Relationships & Communications: Internal / External:

The incumbent maintains key internal relationships with all team members, doner services team and HQ colleagues in MCRM, Finance, and People & Culture, and external relationships with Board members, and event partners, using effective communication and donor stewardship to support organizational objectives and ensure smooth operations.  The incumbent stewards Right To Play UK and Right To Play Ireland’s fiduciary obligations and is the primary authorized liaison with banks, landlords, insurance and payroll providers, external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.

8- Expertise (Certifications / Education, Professional Experience/Language)

• Post-secondary diploma or undergraduate degree in accounting, business administration, Finance, or other related fields.
• Professional Accounting Designation preferred
• 5 years of progressive finance experience, including audit coordination, statutory filings, and external advisor management

• Experience in navigating accounting, banking and payroll platforms

About the role

This is a senior leader role and will play a key role in delivering financial strategy, having oversight of the charity’s finance function, and working with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure the charity’s long-term financial security. The role requires excellent accountancy skills, as well as previous experience in overseeing a range of finance functions and managing a team. You will oversee the charity’s financial accounts and reporting; bookkeeping and processing; budget and forecasts; and bank accounts. You will manage a full-time Finance Manager, who has two direct reports and a Senior Finance Officer who oversees tutor and staff payroll. You will champion the charity’s values and embody them in interactions with colleagues. You will be willing to learn and have a can-do attitude.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, with significant professional experience across a range of areas within finance. Your work will be accurate, efficient, and transparent, setting the standard within the Finance Team. You will be comfortable working with colleagues across the charity to implement cost controls, and to collect and report on financial data. You will regularly present this data to senior members of staff, including at the quarterly Board of Trustees meetings and the charity’s Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. You will be an adept project manager, able to coordinate actions, track progress and deliver results, alongside having strong attention to detail and people skills. Candidates for this role should be comfortable working in a busy, efficient and high-performing team.
