The Hardman Trust supports people on long prison sentences to take their next steps in life. As the Finance Manager your role is to help make this a reality through the effective management of our financial processes. You’ll use your experience from other charity finance roles, along with your accountancy / financial management qualifications, to help ensure our approach to financial management is effective, efficient, up-to-date and in line with charity accounting standards. 

You will be well-organised and motivated to support the wider team in their work. Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Treasurer, you will ensure we have up-to-date information on the financial health of the organisation. You will help to ensure we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes. 

You will lead on ensuring we have robust organisational systems and processes in place for effective financial management. This includes the production and sharing of management accounts, ensuring payroll and invoices are paid on time, devising financial reports, and providing budgetary support. You’ll ensure that accurate records are maintained and that we are reporting our accounts in line with SORP guidelines. 

You will lead on the ongoing development and maintenance of our finance systems, policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose for a growing organisation.

The new Finance Manager role is being created to provide a secure operational basis for Bloody Good Period to continue its work. The Role

This role will ensure the organisation is following robust financial systems and processes, carry out all day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensure timely production of financial information to inform management decisions. Most tasks can be done from home, however some tasks such as banking and petty cash reconciliation will require you to attend our offices. Once the initial training is complete you will be able to arrange your own hours, to be worked Monday to Friday.

This role is for a fixed period of 12 months, to cover maternity leave.

About You

A proven track record of relevant financial administration experience and competence in the use of Xero accounting software, Excel and other MS packages such as word and Outlook are essential. You will have an organised approach to workload and ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, be flexible and adapt to the requirements of the role. You must be able to clearly convey financial information to non-finance colleagues.

This role would suit someone looking to increase their experience of working within the charity sector as part of a busy and friendly finance team, perhaps whilst studying to complete AAT Level 4 or similar.

Role responsibilities 

• Process payments and maintain purchase ledger - process expenses, invoices and other payments in XLedger for payment in a timely and accurate manner and reviews supplier statements and outstanding items regularly and efficiently.

• Compliance and internal controls - Ensure relevant authorisations are obtained, and safeguards and protocols are followed about data protection, internal financial controls, and ethical standards. 

• Act as the first point contact for purchasing queries - primary management of the shared finance email inbox; Acting as the first point of contact for external and internal questions. Ensures high levels of customer service and effective representation of the Finance Team and the Trust. 

• Organisation - Maintain paperwork in an orderly manner: current/prior year records to remain accessible yet secure, older items archived and destroyed when appropriate. Ensuring proper records are maintained in the financial system.

As Finance & Operations Administrator you will have a key role to play working closely with the trustees and Head of Fundraising & Communications to co-ordinate activities,  to ensure day to day operations in the UK run smoothly.  

The role as advertised covers a broad range of activities. However there will be peaks and troughs of workload.

-  A qualified accountant or bookkeeper with experience of Xero ideal (training can be provided).

In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector, utilising novel revenue approaches such as nutrient neutrality credits and the voluntary carbon market amongst others. They have developed finance mechanisms to sit alongside these revenue streams such as a philanthropic loan system. They now want to scale up this work to help The Trusts and others to scale nature’s recovery across Wales. They need to turn policy into strong principles that allows us to develop guidelines and templates to help the Trusts across Wales access green finance. 

Our client need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with the Trusts to bring this work into a coherent strategy, develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. The Role

Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in collaborating across teams to support finance and grantmaking. They are responsible for the smooth running of all transactional processes for grants, payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. They have cash management, banking, and payment experiences. They demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure the accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They will have the skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.

As a member of the Finance Partnering Team, you will support budget holders to maximise their impact and deliver a high quality, customer focused finance partnering service to stakeholders, including support to operational decision making, commercial development and producing forecasts, budgets, and insightful analysis.
 
This is a homeworking role, but you may be required to travel to attend some meetings and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our flagship offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.

As a Senior Finance Manager, you'll:

Job Purpose

This position has a pivotal role in ensuring the financial sustainability and operational excellence of the Students' Union.  This role will drive the strategic direction of financial, HR, and operational functions. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement, streamline processes, and implement  data-driven solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. Collaborating closely with the CEO and the Director of Commercial and Operations, as well as other staff to align the Union's financial, operational, and commercial strategies with its overall mission and goals.

This role will:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Union's financial, HR, and operational functions

• Ensure robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations.

• Drive continuous improvement in operational processes and systems.
