Home-Start Barnet, Brent & Harrow supports families with young children through challenging times. We are looking for an experienced and organised Finance & Business Manager to ensure our charity’s finances and core business functions run smoothly.

This is a varied, hands-on role within a friendly and committed team. You will lead our day-to-day financial management while overseeing governance administration, HR processes, contracts and organisational systems.

What you’ll do

You will:

• Produce management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
• Monitor income, expenditure and cash flow.
• Oversee QuickBooks and the work of our Finance Administrator.
• Provide financial information for funders, the CEO and Trustees.
• Coordinate governance, compliance and risk-management processes.
• Oversee routine HR administration and work with our external HR advisers.
• Manage key suppliers, contracts, insurance and IT support.
• Line manage the Finance Administrator and work closely with the Office Administrator.
• Improve systems and help the charity work more efficiently.

About you

You will have:

• Strong charity finance or business-management experience.
• Practical experience of using QuickBooks and producing management reports.
• A relevant finance qualification, such as AAT Level 3 or 4, or equivalent practical experience.
• A good understanding of budgets, financial controls and reconciliations.
• Experience of governance, HR administration, contracts or office systems.
• Experience of supervising or managing staff.
• Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
• The confidence to take ownership, work independently and communicate clearly.

You will be practical, approachable and comfortable working across different areas in a small charity. You will enjoy improving systems, solving problems and helping colleagues do their jobs effectively.

The role is office based and requires someone who can stay focussed and productive, working around a busy team

Salary:  (£52,693 - £54,992) based on experience, plus the possibility of a market supplement of £2,230.

About the role

Responsibilities include:

• Lead on tax, ensuring preparation of tax returns including VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax, Gift Aid and Employment Taxes.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Manage relationships with internal and external advisors and tax authorities, as required.
• Support the Group with ad-hoc tax and technical accounting queries.
• Lead on all Tax consultations.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Full CCAB or CIMA qualification (or equivalent) or full tax qualification. Essential.
• Experience with core tax areas such as VAT (specifically partial exemption), CIS or Corporation Tax and the ability to interpret legislative changes.
• Experience working in house or practice with large complex organisations.

Desirable:

• Prior exposure to operating in a public or not‑for‑profit environment such as housing, local or central government, or wider public services.

Interim Financial Planning & Analyst Manager (3 to 6 Month FTC)

Salary: £55,000 per annum (pro rata)
Location: Central London with hybrid working (1 day in office, 4 remote)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (3 to 6 months)

Are you an experienced Financial Planning & Analyst professional who can hit the ground running? We're partnering with a well-established organisation seeking an accomplished Interim FP&A Manager to provide strategic financial insight during a key period of change and planning.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to make an immediate impact, working closely with senior leadership to drive budgeting, forecasting and business performance across a diverse organisation.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the financial planning and analysis function, providing meaningful commercial insight to support decision-making and organisational performance. Acting as a trusted business partner, you'll work collaboratively with budget holders and senior stakeholders while leading the budgeting and forecasting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.

• Produce high-quality management reporting with insightful analysis and recommendations.

• Develop financial models, business cases and scenario planning to support strategic decisions.

• Partner with budget holders to improve financial performance and accountability.

• Deliver KPI reporting, variance analysis and performance dashboards.

• Analyse payroll and workforce costs to support resource planning.

• Support commercial performance analysis across multiple income streams.

• Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes and financial controls.

About You

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

• Proven experience in FP&A, commercial finance or management accounting.

• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Experience supporting senior leadership with strategic financial insight.

• Confident working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.

• Available to start at short notice.

As Finance Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day finance function while helping shape the future of financial management at British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). Reporting to the Director of Business Operations and leading our Finance Assistant, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting that enables informed decision-making across the organisation.

Alongside ensuring excellent financial governance and control, you'll have the opportunity to modernise and transform the finance function. From improving management information and financial processes to leading the redesign of our purchase-to-pay process and supporting wider digital transformation, you'll play a key role in ensuring finance helps deliver our ambitious Strategy 2030.

We're looking for a fully qualified CIMA/CGMA accountant who combines strong management accounting expertise with a passion for continuous improvement.
