We are seeking a new Finance and Administration Officer following the retirement of a long-serving team member. A key member of the SLA central office team, the Finance and Administration Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and providing essential administrative support for our membership. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, book-keeping and effective day-to-day financial operations, producing financial reports using our CRM (IMIS) and XERO, in addition to administration support.

You will be experienced in financial and administration operations of a charity or similar , with an AAT qualification or matching worked experience. Familiarity with XERO will be an advantage. You will be able to bring understanding of cashflow and financial analysis of figure, working with accountants as required.

You will also have excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with all stakeholders from our members, to funders to suppliers. You will be determined and have an excellent eye for financial and administrative detail. Your duties will include general administration and:

Financial operations and record-keeping

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate records of all SLA accounts and petty cash; book-keeping
• Process and record all incoming payments, including foreign cheques (into bank account)
• Monitor cashflow and expenditure, keeping track of spending
• Pay invoices upon approval and ensure timely monthly payments (e.g. pensions, HMRC)
• Handle creditor and supplier communications and resolve related issues
• Monitor and follow up on overdue payments with a focus on membership payments

Invoicing and income tracking

Mark is looking for a General Manager to work alongside him. Mark is an entrepreneur and creator. To balance this, he needs someone steady, organised, and practical to turn ideas into plans and keep the day-to-day operations running smoothly.

THE ROLE

Mark is looking for a General Manager to work closely with him. He is an entrepreneur and creator. To balance this, Mark needs someone steady, organised, and practical to turn ideas into plans and keep the day-to-day running smoothly.

This is a start-up role: exciting, busy, and varied. There’s a lot to do, and you’ll need to be efficient, flexible, and ready to roll up your sleeves.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

· Someone with experience in project management, operations, or general management in a social enterprise, or small start-up

· A meticulous and practical organiser who enjoys making things work and getting things done

· Someone who wants to work with purpose, helping build a socially oriented organisation

· Efficient, empathetic, and comfortable juggling a wide range of tasks

· Tech-savvy and confident using AI/digital tools to make processes simple and efficient

· Flexible: this role could be full-time, part-time, or suit someone returning to work

WHAT YOU’LL DO

· Project management: Plan and manage projects from start to finish, making sure deadlines are met and everyone delivers on their part.

· Meetings and follow-up: Organise and run management meetings, keep notes, and make sure agreed actions happen.

· Governance: Oversee compliance and act as Company Secretary, keeping records accurate and up to date.

· Finance: Use Xero and work with accountants/bookkeepers to oversee budgets, accounts, and financial reports so the numbers are always clear.

· Fundraising and business development: Support funding applications, proposals, and relationships with partners to bring in new opportunities.

· Operations: Keep the day-to-day running smoothly — from diary management and HR basics to coordinating contractors.

· Communications: Maintain simple but effective comms, updating the website and keeping social media active.

SKILLS & QUALITIES

· Strong organisational and project management skills

· An excellent writer, whether contracts, bids or public facing materials

· Experience of operations, governance, and finance oversight in a small organisation, ideally a social enterprise or startup

· Confidence managing budgets and financial reporting (not a finance role, but able to keep track)

· Able to communicate clearly and keep people focused

· Empathetic, socially minded, and committed to putting people first

· Steady, reliable, and happy working in the background to let others thrive

A leading London-based cancer charity is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join them for a 12-month fixed-term contract (with potential for permanent thereafter). This well-known charity plays a vital role in funding cancer research, providing support for patients across a range of programme areas as well as leading in campaigning and advocacy work.

The Finance Business Partner role will support the organisation in the provision of accurate management information to key budget-holder groups for the charity. Key duties will be as follows:

• Prepare reporting and key financial information, including forecasts and budgets, for key directorates
• Oversight of the management accounts for your programme areas
• Work closely with non-finance budget-holders to advise on in-year budgets and re-forecasts
• Develop relevant reports and templates or budget-holder training to improve budget-holder experience and financial acumen
• Working in partnership with the wider finance business partnering team to identify best practice and improved ways or working where appropriate

About You

• Qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
• Non-qualified candidates with significant experience in finance business partnering may also be experience
• Applicants from all sectors are welcome, though an interest in working for the charity sector is a must.
• Experience in finance business partnering and working with non-finance stakeholders to communicate financial information

The role will be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential to go permanent thereafter. Candidates who are interested in permanent-only roles are still encouraged to apply if interested to explore the option of being offered a permanent contract pending further approvals.

What you’ll do:

• Own budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow for our development programme
• Drive accuracy and insight with SQL, Proval and Brixx
• Manage grant claims and compliance with HCA requirements
• Produce clear, insightful reports for boards and senior leaders
• Be the go-to financial partner, challenging assumptions and adding value

What you’ll need:

• CIMA/ACCA qualified (or finalist) with housing or development accounting experience
• Advanced Excel modelling skills
• Strong communicator and collaborator
• Proactive, solutions-focused, and ready to make a difference
