Our client, a small, values-led charitable organisation is seeking a temporary Finance Officer to provide day-to-day financial support and ensure the smooth running of its finance operations. This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE) and running for 4-months in the first instance, supporting a senior member of the organisation and playing a key part in maintaining accurate records and managing core processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Daily banking, payments, and transfers using Bankline.
• Responding to finance-related emails and ad-hoc requests.
• Running four-weekly payroll, including pensions and HMRC submissions.
• Preparing monthly spend reports, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Assisting with year-end processes, audits, and budget preparation.
• Maintaining accurate records in Sage and performing regular backups.
• Paying invoices, managing credit card applications, and filing financial documents.
• Liaising with external providers and handling occasional sensitive notifications.
• Monitoring care home fee payments and raising concerns as needed.

To be considered, you will have:

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts role.
• Confidence using Sage and strong general IT skills.

Job requirements

What we're looking for:

• ACCA/ACA/CIMA or other chartered accounting qualification (or Finalist).

• Proven experience in a finance function in a hands-on role, including working proactively to improve and/or set up and manage effective financial processes.

• Extensive technical knowledge of accounting principles and best practice, with particular reference to specific UK charity accounting rules and regulations.

• Substantial experience of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, plus involvement in financial year-end and annual statutory audit.

• Knowledge of SUNv6 and Infor Q&A or similar finance system, plus Excel analysis and data functions, working with large and variable datasets – and ideally knowledge of Proactis or similar.

• Proven experience of delivering a business partnering focused service and providing in depth insight, analysis, guidance and support to budget-holders.

About the role

We have an exciting job opening in our Grants team at ClientEarth! The Grants Officer will work in the Grants Team as part of the wider Development Department, to manage a portfolio of grants that fund our organisation’s work.

In this role, you will be managed by Lydia Baker. Lydia joined ClientEarth in August 2024 and in her role as a Grants Manager is responsible for managing relationships with key funders. Lydia has worked in the NGO sector for over eight years and has expertise in a variety of functions including grant management, programme management, communications and monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.  On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with Lydia as part of an established Grants Team that sits within the Development Department at ClientEarth.

Main Duties

• Funding portfolio management - Have a close and in-depth knowledge of their grants portfolio, including a sound understanding of the philanthropic, institutional and statutory funding mix;
• Internal and external communications - Meet with Trust, Foundation and Institution portfolio managers to discuss proposals, provide updates on the programmatic work, and to formally report back on financial, organisational and technical issues; 
• Project management - Effectively manage reporting and the grant renewal process from start to completion including working with multiple teams across ClientEarth’s European and international offices to ensure input from all avenues to complete proposals and reports in a timely and high-quality manner; and 
• Financial planning and budget handling - Work with Finance and Programmes staff to develop individual budgets for funding proposals
• Systems and processes - Maintain funder database systems (Raiser’s Edge) and other organisational databases (SharePoint) on a daily basis

About the role

We’re recruiting for a Regional Manager - a role that some people may consider daunting, but we'll support you every step of the way. All that we ask is that you dive in, embrace our culture and use your natural leadership skills to develop your team.

As Regional Manager, you’ll lead a diverse team across group of up to 16 shops within our London region, inspiring them to deliver ambitious targets and exceptional standards. Reporting into the Head of Operations, you’ll be accountable for all aspects of performance across your region:

· Consistent sales growth through innovation, sales analysis, improving operational efficiencies and controlling costs – generating income to fund Mind’s vital mental health support services

· Creatively finding new ways to acquire stock donations and to recruit volunteers

· Actively looking for new shop locations including large format shops, using your knowledge of the region

· Working with local Minds to promote their services and to understand the potential of developing meaningful partnerships.

We’re looking for someone who is an experienced leader, with a track record of delivering results through developing and motivating their people. We’re also looking for someone who is commercially aware, has strong strategic planning skills, understands retail and who lives and breathes our values:

Heading up Beat’s major donor fundraising, the Philanthropy Manager will drive vital income growth for the charity. They will nurture and uplift existing major donor relationships while identifying and securing the support of new major donors. With 20% of Beat’s income coming from major donors, this role is pivotal in fulfilling our mission to make eating disorders a thing of the past.

We are looking for an ambitious and skilled major donor fundraiser who can drive income growth in this area while insuring that our donors receive the best possible care. Many of our donors have personal experience of an eating disorder or of supporting a loved one with one, and are looking to create something positive out of their suffering by helping others. Do you have the sensitivity and creativity to support them to do so? 

Key responsibilities include:

• Create and deliver against a Major Donor strategy, to drive income growth for Beat.

• Generate new business from high net worth individuals by identifying, researching and developing relationships with suitable prospects, and by responding effectively to inbound leads.

• Hold responsibility for the account management of all Major Donor relationships, working alongside the Beat Executive Team and Trustees to utilise their support when added value can be of benefit. 

• Write creative proposals and inspiring reports, by engaging with Beat delivery teams, M&E and finance colleagues in line with our commitments to Donors.

The Difference is an education charity, founded to change the story on lost learning. Our vision is to see lost learning falling nationally by 2030 and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, particularly those most vulnerable.

The Role

The Candidate
We are seeking a combination of the following skills, aptitude and experience:

• Experience designing and delivering staff training / professional development
• Track record building productive work cultures with colleagues with a range of experiences
• Experience coaching and line managing
• Evidenced interest in thoughtful hiring practices to acknowledge and reduce impact bias, including matching competitive processes with headhunting leads to improve diversity of insight and experience in candidates
• Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of work in a standalone role, with the ability to work to deadlines, remain calm under pressure, and reprioritise work in accordance with organisational needs
• A career/volunteering which evidences commitment to The Difference's mission of improving the lives of vulnerable children

You are more likely to be successful in your application if you have either/both:

• CIPD trained or willing to begin training & accreditation process
• Experience working in fast-paced start up culture; can-do in contexts of ambiguity
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with employee relations cases
• Experience in relational practices including restorative work
