Part-Time Finance Manager Jobs

The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

In this position, you will play an important role in helping us to further understand the links between money, mental health problems and gambling harms and work with firms and stakeholders to develop practical solutions that lead to real change.

The full-time equivalent salary is either £41,283 at the Senior Officer level or £32,915 at the Officer level.

This role can be offered as London-based or remote (with twice-monthly travel to the London office) and either full-time (37.5 hours over 5 days) or part-time (minimum 30 hours over 4 days a week).

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and working closely with the Senior Programme Finance Officer, the primary objective of the role is to manage the monthly and annual accounts, prepare for and lead the end-to-end statutory audit and support the wider organisation with financial insight and guidance.

• Monthly accounts: maintain financial records and produce monthly management reports. Prepare financial reports for quarterly board meetings.
• Annual accounts: prepare the annual financial accounts, including the Trustees’ Annual Report.
• Lead the audit process: manage the audit process and be the key contact for the auditor during the audit fieldwork and follow up.
• Organisational budget: support the Director of Finance with development of the annual organisational budget. Liaise with budget holders across the organisation (fundraising, programmes, communications, office management and CEO) on a regular basis to manage spend against the annual organisational budget.
• Support the wider team with financial information and insights: provide financial information or conduct analysis to support the activities of the wider organisation, including due diligence information required for proposals for funding opportunities.
• Provide guidance to our network partners’ finance teams: for example, reviewing our overseas network partners’ annual accounts and finance policies. Liaise with the Treasurer of Friends of Hand in Hand in New York to manage donations from the US.
• Compliance: support the Director of Finance with the reviewing and updating organisational policies, including risk, governance and the Finance Manual. Ensure that regulatory requirements for staff training are met, such as anti-bribery, cyber security and data protection.
• Manage invoices and purchase orders: manage the invoices tracker and purchase orders system to ensure that the appropriate approvals are obtained, and suppliers are paid on time. Support with payments and monitor bank income for the fundraising team.
• Manage trademarks: work with the CEO to maintain global trademarks for the Hand in Hand network.
• Gift aid: ensure that gift aid is claimed on all eligible donations in a timely manner.
• Staff timesheets: monitor monthly staff timesheets for projects that require them. Manage analysis of staff time across projects and provide actual spend for project reports. In time, we would like to implement a more sophisticated timesheet system and the Financial Accountant could take the lead on this project.

Charity People are proud to be partnering with Equally Ours, a UK charity that brings together people and organisations working across equality, human rights and social justice to make a reality of these in everyone's lives to help bring on board an Operations Director.

This is at an exciting and pivotal time for Equally Ours. At the end of 2022, they launched their ten year strategy, and as part of that focused their internal development in 2023/24 on becoming an anti-racist organisation - an ongoing commitment and journey. They are now about to embark on a structural and sustainability review to ensure they are best placed to deliver on the rest of their strategy.

We are looking for an organised, motivated, and experienced Interim Operations Director to give support with capacity, update processes, and ensure the operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

A small team and welcoming team, so leaders need to enjoy covering a wide range of duties, from the strategic to hands-on. The role will involve close collaboration with the Co-CEOs.

The main responsibilities are:

* You will lead on delivering operational, finance and people strategy as well as oversee finances, working closely with 3rd party finance providers to manage the allocation of resources and oversee budgeting, and grant management.
* Lead on all aspects of our HR function, taking charge of people development, staff support, finalise revised pay and wellbeing policies and implement changes
* You'll support the team to develop and manage impactful partnerships and stakeholder relationships, providing strategic advice on project delivery and ensuring our partnership arrangements are well planned and managed with care
* You'll ensure they are compliant, maintaining effective internal policies and procedures, and are managing organisational risks effectively
* Alongside the CEO, you'll support the board of trustees in ensuring our organisational governance is solid.

To succeed in the role, you will need to have:

The successful candidate will have successfully led a team and demonstrated experience of how to stretch people and strengthen their confidence. You will have strong organisational skills and have a proven track record in leading an operations function, ideally within the charity sector. It would be valuable for you to have experience of leading organisational change initiatives.

Prospectus is delighted to collaborate with our client, a prestigious London university, in their pursuit of a temporary Senior Business Operations Officer. This pivotal role supports essential business functions. Initially looking to run for 3-4 months, with potential for extension, this full-time, hybrid position requires onsite presence 3-4 days a week for the first few weeks, later transitioning to 2 days onsite (Tuesday/Friday). Flexibility is crucial for covering team absences.

As the Senior Business Operations Officer, you'll oversee departmental finances, procurement, and human resources, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations. Your duties span event coordination, recruitment oversight, and crucial office administration support. Additionally, you'll supervise the Business Support Officer and maintain close liaison with campus facilities.

We seek candidates with outstanding administrative experience, preferably within higher education, who demonstrate proficiency in MS Office and possess strong communication skills. A proactive approach to meeting deadlines is essential. Immediate availability or a short notice period is required for consideration in this immediate-start opportunity.

We’re looking for someone with excellent bilingual communication skills (Welsh and English) with great news sense, demonstrated through utilising  bilingual media outlets in Wales, and a sound knowledge of Wales and UK media.

About the role 

You’ll co-develop and implement an inclusive bilingual media and communications programme across traditional, digital and social media and maximise our messaging and campaigning impact in Wales through powerful communications. 

You’ll build a sustainable team of proactive volunteers affected by Parkinson’s to energise our communications through their personal stories and participation in communications work.

What you’ll do:

• Manage, monitor and report on the bilingual web pages and Facebook page for Wales

• Maximise coverage for campaigns and fundraising communications in Wales, and produce creative content, including video

• Research and ‘sell’ stories to maximise coverage, involving people affected by Parkinson’s

• Provide Welsh language media interviews

• Conduct media and social media training for staff and volunteers and produce media briefings to support interviews

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of interviewing and case study collection within sensitive topics 

• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, the media and stakeholders in Wales

• Ability to work co-productively with people affected by Parkinson’s

• Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and enable others to meet challenging deadlines 

• Willingness to participate in the Media and PR out-of-hours on-call cover, and the ability to work flexibly, from home, as member of a dispersed team
