Systems Accountant (15-month Fixed Term Contract)
Hours: 35 hours per week (flexible working required, occasional travel within the UK with overnight stays).

Are you a Systems Accountant looking to play a pivotal role in our exciting Finance Transformation project. In this 15-month fixed-term contract, you'll be the Group's Finance Transformation Lead, guiding us as they transition from their current on-premise systems to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O).

As Systems Accountant you will:
- Lead and collaborate with the Finance team, Project team and third-party implementer to design and implement a robust D365 F&O system.
- Develop the internal control framework, Chart of Accounts, and other data structures for the new system.
- Work closely with the implementation team to create a suite of financial reports and dashboards.
- Support data cleansing, conversion, and migration from our current systems to D365 F&O.
- Lead the development and standardisation of future-state end-to-end Finance processes for the Group.
- Train the Finance team on D365 functionalities and reporting.
- Utilise your expertise to support the wider Finance team throughout the project
Your experience and attributes will include:
- To be a qualified accountant with experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience with D365 F&O and Power BI.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.
- A meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.

The Role

The Chief Executive provides overall leadership in terms of the strategic development and operational management of Muscular Dystrophy UK. The key purpose of the Chief Executive role is to inspire and lead the charity to support ground breaking research to drive the development of effective treatments and cures, to ensure access to specialist NHS care and support, to provide excellent direct services and promote opportunities to enable individuals and their families to live independently with the best possible quality of life.
The Chief Executive will ensure the charity is a high performing organisation with clear strategic objectives that engages widely and works effectively through partnerships to achieve its goals. The Chief Executive oversees and develops the financial performance of the charity which underpins the pace of strategic developments.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate should possess a multifaceted skill set with a demonstrable commitment to the vision and values of Muscular Dystrophy UK.
You must be a strategic thinker, capable of collaborating with the Board to define a clear organisational vision and effectively communicate it both internally and externally.
You should also demonstrate a mature understanding of charity governance, ensuring effective financial planning, tight controls, and risk management. You must possess high financial acumen to monitor income trends, identify areas for efficiency, and reduce costs while inspiring, motivating, and managing staff and volunteers to ensure coordinated activities across the organisation.
Additionally, you need to be an empathetic listener, with high levels of emotional intelligence, engaging a diverse group of stakeholders. You should demonstrate strong communication skills, resilience in problem-solving, and a coaching/mentoring style at all levels, while maintaining clarity, openness, and determination to achieve agreed objectives.
Experience:
- Significant leadership experience gained at senior level in a complex environment, ideally with good, first-hand knowledge of the research or health sectors, working with patients, families or vulnerable people.
- Evidence of leading the development and delivery of organisational strategy, key targets, service improvements and management of change.
- Solid track record of effectively managing resources and budgets, with experience of delivering long term financial sustainability and stewardship of valuable resources.
- Ability to forge and nurture effective partnerships and collaborative relationships with a range of organisations both inside and outside the research, healthcare and/or charitable sectors and also with patients and their families.
- Demonstrable evidence of strategic development and leading and inspiring people / organisations and developing effective partnerships.

The Project Coordinator has to assist in providing project coordination for the full life cycle of any assignment offered to our clients; from the proposal process, contract management with the client, assignment planning, through to assisting with the report writing, and ultimately billing the client.
Contract Responsibilities
·Assist with proposal and tender submission, including preparing project budgets and schedules, liaising with prospective staff and ensuring all proposals are submitted within the respective deadlines
·Ensure that contracts are as per the issued proposals, that all terms agreed are in the organisations’ best interests and support the Managers/Partners in any contract administration required
·Plan the fieldwork of the project, including agreeing dates with the beneficiary, liaising with internal and external staff to ensure they can perform the required service on the agreed dates and that all parties have the necessary information to ensure the project fieldwork runs smoothly
·Draw up contracts between our organisation and any subcontracted firm
·Monitor and track project progress and on our ‘Control Schedule’ to ensure all stakeholders are kept up to date with any project developments and that deadlines are met
·Act as the point of contact for all stakeholders (including the client, the beneficiary, internal/external teams and management)
·Assist the manager in finalising of reports & deliver final product to client
·Monitor internal staff working hours & expenses incurred, to ensure project budgets are adhered to
·Check and process external suppliers’ invoices, making sure all days worked and expenses incurred are within the agreed budget, liaising with finance as and when issues arise
·Assist in client billing, ensuring that all bills issued are as per the contractual terms between the firm and the client, that all costs are accounted for, and that bills are paid by the client in a timely manner
·Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation for future use, ensuring that all projects are properly logged and can be used in future proposals/tenders
·Carry out required client onboarding procedures and compliance checks
·General: translate documents, maintain filing system of documentation by client and by assignment, assist with training new project coordinators, archive files when necessar
