This is a uniquely positioned and exciting maternity-cover role offering you the opportunity to manage the Royal Institution’s YouTube channels and website. You will schedule video content to maximise channel growth and audience engagement, ensuring that our content is user-focused, engaging, and aligned with our strategic and charitable ambitions to ensure that science is for everyone.

Our digital team sees digital not just as a way to promote ourselves online, but to also bring thought-provoking science and our rich heritage to audiences worldwide, many of whom may never set foot in our iconic home in Mayfair.

Through our YouTube channel, we have already established ourselves as a world-leader in in-depth, longform science videos. Our monthly podcasts are growing fast, and we are striving to develop our online communities so that they reach new audiences and drive growth across all of our digital platforms.

You will be passionate about driving growth and monetising our YouTube channels. You will lead a team of video producers to manage the Ri’s programme of public and commercial filming, including YouTube films, livestreams and partner content, and be the main point of contact for our website across the charity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Ri’s YouTube channels, developing a deep knowledge of YouTube’s platforms and algorithm, scheduling video content to maximising channel growth, audience engagement and video revenue through YouTube monetisation
• Manage the Ri’s YouTube membership programme, posting regular member updates, monitoring churn, and generally developing the product to provide a consistent and growing income stream
• Manage the Ri’s website platform and, in conjunction with Head of Digital, Marketing and Communications, develop a road map for future improvements to ensure all website developments are audience-focused and strategically aligned
• With the support of the Head of Digital, manage the day-to-day relationships with our website agency and other digital suppliers, including our YouTube partner manager, as well as discrete digital projects, to ensure our website, YouTube channel, and other digital platforms continue to grow and maintain a high level of quality for our users.
• With the support of the Head of Digital, manage the Ri’s programme of public and commercial filming – including YouTube films, livestreams and partner content – to ensure accessibility of high-quality science content for Ri audiences
• Line manage the Ri’s Video and Multi-media Producers and contribute to the senior leadership of the Digital and Marketing Team
• Lead on and implement the Ri’s website content strategy and calendar to manage, develop, create and promote user-focused content
• With the support of the Senior Marketing Manager, work with the Social Media Manager to ensure the Ri’s website content supports our mission and provides optimal and meaningful user journeys across our digital platforms
• Manage a cross-departmental group of website content creators from across the Ri to ensure the Ri’s digital content is accurate, user-focused and consistent in style and tone of voice
• Work with Head of Digital, Marketing and Communications to create and commission systems for monitoring, reporting and evaluating the Ri’s digital work to enable strategic, evidence-based and audience-focused decision making across the organisation
• Horizon scan for the latest trends and developments in digital media to help ensure that the Ri retains its place at the leading-edge of digital innovation in science communication

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Experience in digital product management
• A deep understanding of the digital landscape and the ability and desire to keep informed of the latest developments and opportunities
• Experience of managing YouTube content via the YouTube CMS or YouTube Creator Studio
• Track record of online revenue generation

In this role you will be responsible for invoices, petty cash claims and staff expenses, as well as other regular payments and the purchase ledger payment runs. This role will liaise with managers and suppliers, as well as relating to the wider finance team and other members of staff.

This role would suit someone with some previous experience and knowledge of working in finance and accounting, bringing existing purchase ledger knowledge. The successful candidate will need be able to work to deadlines and have strong skills in admin, organisation, and IT. The nature of the role requires someone who is able to manage confidential data and is a problem solver

Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge of domestic violence its impact on victims and their children (physical, emotional, financial and sexual, with knowledge of ‘honour- based violence’ , forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation)
• Knowledge of perpetrators abusive behaviours within relationships, including family relationships, male victims and same sex relationships.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
• At least one years’ experience of managing a caseload and of supporting service users.
• Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Previous experience of using computer-based systems to accurately record work and client details.

• Demonstrable learning and experience from working in a relevant retail environment

About the Role

As Individual Giving Fundraiser, you will:

• Deliver and continuously improve Raystede’s Individual Giving programme.
• Plan and manage multi-channel campaigns including regular giving, cash appeals, digital fundraising and stewardship journeys.
• Use data and insight to segment audiences, test approaches and optimise performance.
• Oversee supporter journeys to ensure communications are timely, engaging and emotionally compelling.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing and external agencies to deliver joined-up campaigns.
• Produce campaign reports, forecasts and actionable insights to support income growth.
• Line-manage a small team, supporting their development and wellbeing.

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.

We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations, many chickens die of heart attacks, fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected, and are no longer exploited for human consumption.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in shaping Animal Equality UK’s public voice. The postholder will ensure all outgoing content, both digital and print, aligns with our brand, values, and mission.

This role will lead on paid digital marketing and lead-generation activities to grow our supporter and donor base; oversee video production; manage website content; optimise organic and paid reach; support SEO strategy; and ensure consistent day-to-day engagement across our social media channels.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across all UK departments, particularly Marketing and Campaigns, as well as with international colleagues, to maximise our impact for farmed animals.
