The Grant Finance Manager is responsible for the financial aspects of EJAF’s grantmaking activities. From monitoring grantees’ budgets to reviewing disbursement requests, from pre-grant due diligence to grant close-out and audit, this role covers the full grant life cycle. The Grant Finance Manager is key to delivering grantmaking that is effective, efficient, risk-managed and compliant. As part of a small, professional Finance Team, the role reports directly to the Head of Finance and works closely with Grants Portfolio Leads (GPLs). The ideal candidate has relevant experience in managing the financial aspects of grantmaking and is a smart, enthusiastic team-player with good accounting skills and attention to detail.

Job Purpose:
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational development of the charity with particular responsibility for grant awarding functions to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with our charitable objectives and values.

Main Duties/Tasks

Grant Applications, Awards & Reporting

Maintain and update the grant Terms & Conditions.

Communication & Relationships
Lead on the development of an internal communications plan, promoting both the opportunities available to apply for Charitable Funding within the Trust and the impact of projects that have been funded by the Charity. Promote the work of the Charity throughout the Trust and with funders.
Develop relationships with the Charitable Spending Committee.
Develop key relationships throughout the Trust that support the grant award and reporting process.
To build and manage key relationships with existing partners.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance Team, working together to provide a smooth process.
Lead on internal liaison to ensure that fundraising teams have the information they need to report back to funders and donors on how their donations have made a vital difference.
Lead on providing and co-ordinating information to the Head of Marketing for the yearly impact report and Annual Report for the Financial Statements.
Innovation & Development
Be the lead specialist in grant awarding and maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice.
Work with the database manager to develop the use of the CRM system with the grants team to maximise efficiency.
Work with the database manager to develop a framework for impact reporting that links to our CRM system.

Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.

Pay and conditions

Specific responsibilities

Person specification
We are looking for some of the following attributes in the successful applicant, you may be more experienced in some areas than others. We are interested in experience that’s both job-related or gained through other areas of your life. Training and support will be given in any areas required.

A relevant finance qualification eg AAT, ACCA, CIMA or currently working towards one

Experience using QuickBooks or similar accounting and reporting systems and advanced excel.

Our partner, a humanitarian organisation, has programmes focussing on peacebuilding initiatives, improved quality of and access to education and the opportunity to earn livelihoods. They are seeking an experienced Country Finance Manager for their growing programme in CAR.
Responsibilities
- Provide full financial oversight of the operations in CAR, covering the main office in Bangui and field operations, ensuring that these are properly compliant with local tax & other regulatory requirements.
- Develop, strengthen and implement strong controls, processes and policies in all the offices, ensuring that staff understand these and offer coaching on them as required.
- Lead on the financial accounting and reporting, including the year-end accounts and audit preparation.
- Lead on country financial management, including preparation of management accounts, analysis, developing the organisational budget and cashflow forecasts and re-forecasts.
- Lead on full cycle grants management, including cost recovery, donor compliance, management & reporting, and preparing for donor audits.
- Provide oversight on HR, including ensuring compliance to the local laws & requirements, developing staff policies, and managing staff growth.
- Provide oversight on procurement.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant, or experienced accountant with an accounting/finance degree, with at least 5 years of experience leading the finance function of a growing INGO working in a complex/fragile state.
- Strong experience of developing controls, policies and processes in a complex/fragile state, and in an organisation with HQ and field operations.
- Strong grants management & compliance experience – specifically of institutional grants, including government grants as well as UN agency funding.
- Experience in procurement, HR & administration.
- Strong systems skills (ERP) and advanced MSExcel skills.
- Developed organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
- Resilient and adaptable.
- Bilingual – English & French

About the role
This role will support our Head of Finance and Resources to offer an efficient and effective administrative service to The Talent Foundry colleagues, our facilitator network and external stakeholders.
You will provide finance and administration support to the Head of Finance and Resources to ensure that The Talent Foundry's financial information is accurate; that recruitment and onboarding are carried out in a timely manner; and that administration systems are well maintained.
This role is part-time, 15 hours per week, with flexibility around days or time (within the core hours of 8.30-17.30), mainly from home, with regular Team Together Days in central London. Annual leave is 28 days p/a + Bank Holidays (pro-rata)
You will work closely and collaboratively with your colleagues across programmes and school engagement to ensure accurate data input to our accounting and HR systems. While you’ll be working remotely for a significant part of this role you will be talking to colleagues on a daily basis.
