Purpose of the Job
We are looking for the Farm Rescue Coordinator to play a key role in ensuring that the charity is successful in achieving its objective to rescue and secure a growing supply of surplus food direct from farms, helping us to meet our ambitious future meal targets to feed those in need. You will support the Farm Lead in maintaining relations with the farms and managing large groups of corporate volunteers who change day to day. You will support the Farm Lead and other Felix colleagues with resource planning, daily reporting and measurement. You will support with making delivering between Felix’s London Depots and the orchards. This is a hands-on role that requires being on your feet and frequent manual handling and is 100% outdoor based regardless of weather.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your normal duties and responsibilities will be set out in your job description. However, the charity may require you to perform other duties from time to time.
- Initial set up at orchard each day (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
- Support Farm Lead to carry out Dynamic Risk Assessment each morning
- Meet, greet and check in volunteers on arrival
- Introduction and H&S briefing
- Support with all aspects of picking, stacking, loading of fruit
- Support with lunch and refreshments for volunteers
- Deliver fruit and/or trays between orchards and Felix’s London depots in a Felix van (Wednesdays)
- Liaise with the depot teams regarding logistics

Purpose of the Job
To be the driving force and manager of this new operation, you will join a brand-new operation with the chance to put your stamp on it and drive it forward into the future.
Whilst having the support structure of the wider Felix Production teams and West London Depot Operations team.
You will be the manager of this site and have overall responsibility for its day to day running, it is a hands-on role with most of the working day spent in the kitchen and running the bakery unit. At the beginning of the operation, you will be the only permanent employee there, but this team will expand to add an additional junior baker once fully operational. However, there is the Depot team and the wider production team who will be supporting the day to day as well.
We are a volunteer lead operation so you will have volunteers working alongside you to support the operation.
- In mid-2025 we will open our third production faciality, Felix Bakes. A small operation designed to help us rescue more surplus food and turn it into high value baked goods
- All these goods we make will go back to our brand-new West London Depot, based in the same trading estate and then delivered to some of the 1,200 Community Organisations we support around London
- A particular focus will be on seasonal produce gluts (carrots, courgettes, potatoes), meaning we can ensure more of this produce does not go to waste and add value to the people we support across London
- It will work in partnership with our second production faciality The Felix Food Factory, which will be able to process and/or freeze some of these seasonal gluts into an easier to use format for Felix Bakes
- We are launching this operation in partnership with Deliveroo, who have gifted us the use of this space.
· The Felix Bakes Kitchen is a unit within a wider “dark” kitchen site, which has onsite support and management of the whole unit.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Be the lead manager of this new operation
- Volunteer and staff management
- Support in the creation and delivery of all required H&S, Food Safety and HACCAP plans
- Working with all internal stake holders across the departments at the Felix Project to maximise the output and impact of the unit
- Reporting on and delivering against the units stated KPI’s and development goals
- Participate and conduct internal and external audits, meeting the required standards
- To be the figure head of the project, including internal and some external promotion of the new operation
- Driving continuous development of our product range and reacting to the changing nature of our food supply

This funding will allow us to work with Letchworth Food Bank and the Letchworth community to ensure that food bank users and local residents can access and engage with the specialist advice that many of them need. This project aims to overcome the barriers to accessing Citizens Advice that exist for some food bank users and local residents through the provision of a presence at our local food banks and an offer of local help through partnership working.
The adviser will provide clients with specialist debt and benefits advice and casework tailored to the client’s capability and the complexity of the issues. They will work to improve clients’ financial positions by maximising clients’ income including advice and support with applying for relevant benefits, advice on debt management options, basic budgeting advice, and advice on managing energy bills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice up to casework level on debt management, financial capability and welfare benefits, ensuring that the work conforms to required quality standards.
- Research and apply debt strategy, options and implications, so that clients can make informed decisions.
- Act for clients where necessary or make appropriate referrals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy changes.
- Meet project targets, keeping accurate data for statistical and reporting purposes.

Purpose of the Role
The Food Sourcing and Gleaning Officer plays a key role in FareShare South West’s mission to reduce food waste and fight hunger across the South West. You will be responsible for developing FareShare South West’s network of local suppliers, increasing the number of donations of good to eat surplus food to the organisation. The role also includes a focus on gleaning, this is the mobilisation of volunteers to pick surplus farm crops to be sent out to our network of charities. This forms part of a gleaning pilot project that is happening in 2025-26.
As an ambassador for FareShare South West, you will provide excellent customer service to food suppliers and work closely with our operations and logistics team to ensure food is transported safely, efficiently, and with care.
Key Responsibilities
Local Food Sourcing
-
Support delivery of the Local Food Sourcing Strategy to build a sustainable and expanding supply of local food. Complementing national food partners and matching this with the needs of a diverse Community Food Member base. Delivering a consistent supply of food throughout the year whilst adapting to seasonal fluctuations, and specific projects.

Research potential food sources by geography, type, and sector (retail, wholesale, producer, grower).

Conduct outreach to establish and broker supplier relationships, including on-site visits and securing food supplies in line with growth plans.

Participate in working groups with other FareShare regional centres to share local food sourcing opportunities and share best practice on gleaning projects.

Implement a gleaning project involving volunteers to harvest surplus produce from farms across the South West. Working closely with the corporate volunteer coordinator to organise and support gleaning activities.

Track and report the success of these gleaning activities in line with the projects KPIs.

Expand the network of surplus food suppliers in the South West, with emphasis on Cornish companies.

Work with the Communications team to develop supplier engagement content such as impact stories, case studies, and visual materials. Also support the planning and execution of an event to engage more food suppliers.
Logistics

Coordinate logistics to cost-effectively receive surplus food. Supporting the Head of Food and Logistics in managing dedicated vehicles for food collection and liaising with warehouse staff to optimize use of the van fleet for additional collections.

Purpose of the Role
The Hub Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a FSSW hub, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations that maximise the volume of surplus food received, stored, and distributed to our Community Food Members (CFMs). This includes managing a mixed team of staff, FareChance employability participants and volunteers in their operational tasks, maintaining high operational and health & safety standards, and collaborating with colleagues across food & logistics, compliance, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Oversee and manage the safe and efficient daily operation of the hub, ensuring essential tasks are completed to a high standard.
- Ensure the hub is appropriately set up to meet Key Performance Indicators and goods in and deliveries out, working closely with the Head of Operations.
- Use FareShare UK (FSUK)’s digital stock system to manage product movements and maintain stock accuracy. Lead weekly stock takes and investigate discrepancies in collaboration with the compliance and food teams.
- Oversee the smooth intake and dispatch of food, liaising with food donors, FSUK, transport providers, and partners. Ensure food deliveries meet acceptance criteria and report any quality issues promptly.
- Ensure the Hub Operations team maintain positive relationships with CFMs, ensuring high standards of service and communication.
- Play an active role in identifying solutions to operational challenges, in collaboration with the food, membership and volunteer teams.
- Coordinate and manage external contractors for maintenance and repairs.
- Provide procurement support to secure value for money on consumables and equipment.
- With support from the wider FSSW team, meet food waste KPIs to ensure that we effectively maximise food redistribution to CFMs.
- Ensure adequate stock of operational supplies and equipment to support daily operations.
- Responsible for the Hub Operations controllable costs budget. Oversee the management of on-site petty cash in line with financial controls.
- Work with the Head of Operations to improve systems and integrate new processes to support growth and efficiency.
- Carry out analysis of the fleet and its equipment including weekly vehicle checks and basic maintenance duties (e.g. tyre pressures, topping up vehicle fluids). Work with the Fleet Coordinator to ensure the on-site vehicle fleet is well maintained, roadworthy and compliant.
- Contribute to delivery of the Operations Strategy, including key developments for FSSW.
- Carry out other duties as required to support the successful running of the hub.
2. Team Management
- Provide strong day-to-day leadership to a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Delegate tasks, give regular feedback, and maintain an open, inclusive working environment.
- Manage, supervise, and develop Line Reports, including performance management, appraisals, and training.
- Support effective recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring appropriate support and shift cover. Identify shortfalls in rota cover and respond in effective and timely manner.
- Work with temporary staffing agencies to arrange short term hire drivers, when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Head of Operations and Volunteer Team to ensure effective volunteer induction and ongoing training. Support the Volunteer Manager in the delivery of corporate volunteer days.
- Register and onboard new drivers by delivering volunteer and staff driving assessments and agency driver inductions.

3. FareChance Employability Programme
- Support the delivery of the FareChance programme by overseeing and supervising participants during operational tasks, ensuring they are actively engaged and contributing to the hub operations team.
- Ensure FareChance participants are effectively trained, supported, and equipped to carry out their allocated duties, with opportunities to build confidence and develop relevant skills, with support from the volunteer and employability teams.

- Manage and enhance compliance of the hub premises in line with FareShare’s minimum operating standards and expectations for operational efficiency.
