Home-Start Suffolk is seeking an exceptional individual to join our Board of Trustees as Vice Chair.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in a well-established and growing charity that
supports families across Suffolk. As Vice Chair, you will work closely with the Chair, CEO and wider Board to
help shape our strategic direction, support strong governance and ensure we continue to meet the needs of
families in our communities.

We are specifically looking for someone with charity governance experience. You will bring a solid
understanding of how effective boards operate and feel confident supporting other trustees, offering
constructive challenge and helping to ensure the charity meets its legal and strategic responsibilities.
This Vice Chair role is part of our wider trustee recruitment and we welcome applicants who bring any of the
following:

• Experience or knowledge of the local charity or voluntary sector
• Understanding of family support or volunteer management
• Strong networks and connections within local businesses
• Previous involvement with Home-Start Suffolk as a volunteer or someone who has received support

Become a champion for those unable to live with their birth parents – become a trustee   

We are looking for an exceptional person to join Adoption UK’s Board of Trustees.  We are looking for someone based in Northern Ireland with financial experience.

Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for those who are unable live with their birth parents. Our purpose is to secure the right support at the right time for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth parents, from childhood into adulthood.   

As a UK wide charity, we aim to have representation on our Board from all constituent nations, and across a variety of backgrounds and lived experience. At this time, we are particularly looking to appoint someone from Northern Ireland with financial expertise. Lived experience would be desirable, but not essential. 

As a Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience within our welcoming and dedicated Board. You will be expected to:    

• Oversee the implementation of Adoption UK’s strategy.   

• Support the senior leadership team, adding value and expert advice.   

• Facilitate change that promotes the care and welfare of those unable to live with their birth parents, and their families.    

• Ensure the charity remains true to its purpose and adheres to its regulatory responsibilities.   

The Board of trustees meets four times a year – these meetings are a mix of virtual and in-person meetings. The annual time commitment is 5 days, plus preparation and reading time, with opportunities for deeper involvement in relevant areas of the charity’s work. You will be invited to Adoption UK events. The role is not remunerated but travel and expenses are paid.

Harris Hill is delighted to be supporting Tullie to recruit up to four new Trustees to its Board including a successor to the Chair.

Tullie is one of the UK’s leading independent museums. It has been a vital community asset since 1893. The museum welcomes over 200,000 visitors through its doors every year and is recognised for its first-class visitor service and has a national reputation for the quality of its award-winning exhibitions and learning programmes.

It is one of the most significant museums in the north-west and has been run as an independent charitable trust since May 2011. Tullie has embarked on an ambitious, phased capital development programme - Project Tullie. It has now completed the first two phases and will be commencing the third phase in Autumn 2025. The Project is planned to continue over the next 10-years and will transform the museum and surrounding buildings into a welcoming and contemporary space fit for the next 100 years.

Tullie is looking for four new trustees to provide strategic and inspirational leadership to the charity as it seeks further growth and delivery of its charitable objectives.

The museum is seeking applicants with experience and/or skills in the following areas:

1. Curatorial / Museum Leadership
2. Finance
3. Fundraising
4. Digital / Marketing
5. Education

What Tullie needs:

• A commitment to understanding and supporting the Museum’s mission.
• Strategic vision; good, independent judgment.
• Ability to think creatively and willingness to speak your mind.
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.
• Active role in fundraising (national and international opportunities) and sharing support for the charity through personal and professional networks.
• An interest and passion in environmental issues.
• Someone who can become Chair.
• Someone who has an interest in or connection to Cumbria would be desirable.

Time commitment:

• A minimum of four board meetings per annum in person (currently taking place on a Friday afternoon).
• Annual Board awayday in person.
• Attendance on at least one committee, which is likely to be four meetings per annum (depending on the committee, these maybe online).
• Attendance of at least one quarterly meeting of our Community Board (this may be online).

Remuneration: This is a voluntary position & as such does not pay a salary. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Term of office: an initial 3-year term.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled volunteer grant writer to help us increase our capacity to apply for funding from trusts and foundations.

You’ll work closely with the Income Generation staff in our Income and Partnerships team to research potential funders, write compelling proposals, and help us build long-term relationships that sustain our impact.

Key responsibilities include:

• Researching new funding opportunities aligned with nurtureuk’s mission and programmes

• Writing persuasive, high-quality funding applications and accompanying documents

• Maintaining a pipeline of opportunities and tracking application progress

• Helping to build a library of core fundraising materials and case studies

• Utilising our bank of supporting evidence, data and testimonials to strengthen proposals
   

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

• An excellent writer who enjoys crafting persuasive and engaging text, ideally with previous experience of writing successful grant or funding applications

• Organised, proactive and detail-oriented

• Confident researching and interpreting funders’ criteria

• Able to work collaboratively and independently

Desirable (but not essential):

• Familiarity with the UK charity funding landscape

• Experience in education, wellbeing, or social impact sectors
